Der Süden
Today the final of the ESC is happening again. This year it is hold in Copenhagen, Denmark. Anyone here will watch it on tv, or even visit the event? What are your favorite songs? Or do you not care about the ESC at all? If so, why? Here you can see the participating countries and also listen to their songs: http://www.eurovision.tv/page/history/by-year/contest?event=1893 ____________ To say a few words of my own: Keep the non-European countries out or change the event's name. I just know my own country's song and think it's between good and bad. I will watch the event tonight and let myself be surprised what the other countries will compete with. Mr. Scratch
Is this crap still around? I swear every participant is picked from some random top 10 hitlist. And this belongs in the Music thread. Melech and Sunrise Driver
Doc Rikowski
Imho is bad quality pop music and that's why I avoid to watch it. But hey, taste in music is highly subjective so if people enjoy it then good for them.
Hodgey.
No, I defninetly wont be watching. It's one of the most pointless contests and holds absolutley no appeal to me. Detective Phelps, high91, Jimmy_Leppard and 1 other

RoadRunner71
What a dumb contest. My country is sending a girl that doesn't even sing in the official language of the country she represents. If this girl represents Spain, why the hell does she sing in English? Sing in Spanish, you f*cking moron... Also, why countries like Israel or Azerbaijan do participate if it's called Eurovision? This is pure politics, let's also invite the US and China! universetwisters
universetwisters
Also, why countries like Israel or Azerbaijan do participate if it's called Eurovision? This is pure politics, let's also invite the US and China! I'm thinking it's because of how politically correct Europe's trying to be. In Germany you can't buy model planes with swastikas on them, in England you're followed around everywhere with a camera, etc. I'm eager to see what the Netherlands has to offer, though. Didn't Mosselman make a video for it? That crazy sonofabitch has more talent than today's pop artists thrown together.
Mr. Scratch
Yes, because the US is such a liberal country without any cities that have mass surveillance like Chicago, Washington or Houston.
universetwisters
Yes, because the US is such a liberal country without any cities that have mass surveillance like Chicago, Washington or Houston. I lived in Alexandria (southern suburb of Washington) and the security was pretty lax. You only get your cameras around the government installations and the likes. Shah Sam
I'm probably gonna watch it, because it's a tradition. I'm aware that countries with relations often vote for each other, but those who deserve to win, often do. Tyla

I'm aware that countries with relations often vote for each other, but those who deserve to win, often do. I used to observe a similar traditon called 'watch Terry Wogan trash every performance with his ascerbic wit and pretend the whole thing isn't politically biased' but my ears could no longer take it and nor could my liver. I'm greatly curious to see how Europe and the wider former Soviet area respond to neighboring Australia's entry this year.

Am I missing something? ... Besides the regular voting habits (voting for neighbouring countries, voting for the weirdest performance, having a jury that decides on 50% of the points atleast in Germany) this year many people will vote against or for Russia/Ukraine as reaction to the crisis whcih makes the whole contest even more pointless Edited May 10, 2014 by Stephan90
