A) What specifically makes Claude stupid? I could never gauge how smart he was.

B) I never knew Worldwide FM had dubstep, I always thought that was flylo.

A. Claude is stupid for certain reasons, lets say, during Cutting the Grass, or Grand Theft Aero, he had a great chance to kill Catalina, but he didn't do it.

B. Mala - Ghost is Dubstep. FlyLo plays Deep House, Trap, IDM, Rap and Glitch Hop. So no Dubstep.

Lamar is a terrible character that is only good for momentary comedy relief and is one of the most incompetent characters in GTA V's story.

 

All of the characters may be pretty poor, but at least M, T, and F actually do stuff. All Lamar does is make you get him out of trouble.

So you never tried Three Leaf Clover, Bull in a china shop, Wrong is right, Paper trail, Hostile Negotiation, The Snow storm, Street Sweeper...etc? I don't know about you but IV has a lot more memorable missions.

Did you even understand IV's story? Technically Niko was never a criminal, he was a war veteran on a revenge mission. Sure he did bad things but that doesn't technically make him a criminal because he wanted revenge. He wanted to kill someone. He had to do bad things. He never wanted to be a good guy at all, more like get revenge for whatever even wanted and then settle down.

So Niko (in your opinion) is conufusing because he wants to be a good guy when GTA is the complete opposite while Tommy is the best protagonist in a video game when he can build an empire but not swim? Amazing logic.

Not for me though. If anything IV and VC feel more complete to me even if they have lesser features. Don't get me wrong, SA is brilliant but some of it's features were really mediocre. Quality > Quantity any day.

 

If I'm honest, I really feel that arguing with some III Era fans feels like talking to a wall. I'm getting sick of repeating all these points. I've said these so much in the past weeks that it makes me look like a bit of an idiot yet 3 fans still go on and repeat the same things over and over again.

Tbh Niko never whined or complained. He just did what he had to do to get to his target. The guy has a much stronger backstory than any other protagonist. He was an amazing protagonist and I'd say he's in the top 3 if not the best GTA protagonist.

I feel GTA III should get more recognition, more than San Andreas. People always seem to cream their pants over SA and call it the most revolutionary when in reality III is the reason GTA is so popular these days. Same goes for GTA 1 and 2.

This is quite an unpopular opinion I'm sure, but I feel Tommy is slowly reaching overrated status. Not because he's a bad character, but I feel his character gets more credit than it actually deserves.

 

It's sort of the way I feel about Tenpenny as well. Most people seem to cream in their pants over Ray Liotta being the voice actor more than anything so IMO Tommy wouldn't be as highly regarded if he was voiced by someone else.

 

When you think about it he's not that much more in depth than Claude is. Honestly I loved Tommy when I was 16, but as I've grown older his character appears more and more 1 dimensional to me.

 

Niko will always be the greatest protagonist in the series. It'll be impossible to top him.

GTA V doesn't need to look as fancy as it does, and the map doesn't need to be as big as it is.

 

They were clearly trying to go for the "ultra-realistic scenery porn" angle in terms of graphics, but between the constant texture pop-in and how perfectly serviceable I found IV's graphics when I got it less than 2 years ago, I really don't see why they needed to, especially when it seems like that's where a good portion of the budget ended up going. A good portion that could have been spent on other things, like writing.

 

As for the map, driving across it is just tedious, and so much of it is just open space. It feels unnecessary to me.

I often find when someone seem to defend Niko with laughable justifications of how he had to do bad things with total absence to make any *sense* in understanding the whiny idiot always wanted to bring a change but never made a proper decision to keep himself from happening bad things to him everytime he wanted to *CHANGE*

The whole part meeting different people, then become suddenly a drama queen and again get back to killing business and again become start complaining of how he wished to be something and what not makes me feel just quit playing the game.

CJ by far was still better than Niko, at least he didn't whine that much that I completely get annoyed to the point I need a BREAK from his sad boring adventure.

Again, GTA SA managed to add a lot of fun and humour in portions that made it far more tolerable to enjoy the story all through the end!!

Vercetti gets lauded because his story is not written to allow him any contradictions. He isn't perceived as weak here because the story does not allow him to be.

 

He's not faced with being burnt out of his home or watching his childhood friends being executed one by one at the side of a shallow grave. There's no higher power to sh*t all over him like there is with CJ. He's an avatar of badassery in a city inspired by fantasy. We were never intended to see him wrestle with his feelings or display any kind of conflicting morals.

 

He's got a great backstory - the game never expands on it. There's about two or three lines in the game that refer to why he was in prison and for how long. Another line that we know his old man used to be in the print business. There's a blink-and-miss newspaper clipping in Marco's Bistro cutscene that tells us that he was on death row for Harwood. Everything else you had to read pre release previews to find out.

 

Vercetti has flaws - we don't percieve them as such because they're mostly devices to extend his badassery. There's no substance to them. He has a problem he deals with it. Niko meanwhile has ten years of problems it takes him a story to resolve. Why that comes across to people as weakness though I'll never know.

Simply because there are glaring disconnections between himself being before and acting after reaching LC. His past also doesn't leave him on a lot of instances and several other faults in his character portrayal. I strongly disagree to consider him a better protagonist as, IMO! terribly to play a *video game*. I see his character has more deeper qualities unlike past characters *but* quite a flawed one, kind of Rockstar forgot to remove all the annoyances and other pointless parts from his story.

That's all and I'm not hating on him. No, just can't play being a Niko than Tommy, CJ, or even Michael.
