i simply dislike like they didn’t bother to add a feature that is in online already. in online you can even call for destroyed cars and get them in your location wtf. and i said above too it’s not like the car should dissappear or somerhing like that. it can just stay there like it does in online. this is just a broken gameplay mechanic, it basically says use your own car or piss off

I seriously don't get why they could put that mechanic in SP too. Saints Row beat GTA with that years ago.

I hope the next GTA puts it in at last and I would like a middle approach with the protagonist's car - rather than having one restricted to you by the story, you can pick your favorite car that accompanies you.

I guess this one is VERY unpopular:

- GTA IV has better graphics than GTA V. Yeah, even graphics can be subjective. I honestly prefer the sky colors and cloud shapes of GTA IV to the ones in GTA V, and even though I wish the game had cleaner color correction filters for some hours of certain weathers, I kinda like the cold atmosphere it tried to achieve with the somewhat muted colors, so adapting with it is not really a big deal. I also prefer the lighting and shadows of GTA IV.

GTA IV is a technical mess, but I find the art direction to be more important than more technology. That being said GTA V was still graphically impressive, but I do like some aesthetic choices in IV more - for instance the way the cars look there, they have that detailed metallic effect to them (not sure how to call it), in V they're just too bright and solid colored.

And it's a better solution to San Andreas. If you take a modified car to a mission and it vaults you into to using something else then you better hope you have an old save with said vehicle saved otherwise you're screwed.

I'm not sure, but I think the impound also works in GTA SA, though it's totally random and not reliable.

-driving in gta 4 is more fun than gta 5 and gta san andreas’ plane missions

-gta 4 has the best bike physics.they feel amazing to ride at high speeds with very detailed physics and animations. i don’t get this feeling in gta 5, bikes feel like toys in that game.

-jecpack in san andreas is overrated. if you don’t cheat to obtain it’s almost useless.

I don’t know exactly how unpopular of an opinion this is but I REALLY like the student-mentor relationship between Michael and Franklin, perhaps even more so than the average gamer. In fact, it is one of my absolute favorite aspects of the game’s storyline. When you really think about it, Michael is basically to Franklin how Plato was to Aristotle (and yes, Aristotle is my current avatar and my previous one was a Russian chemist named Dimitri Mendeleev for those who may have been curious to know who my current and preceding avatars were pictures of). All the way back in Ancient Greece, Plato was the mentor of Aristotle. Both were level headed philosophers who knew how to get stuff done. Sure enough, the same pretty much applies to Michael and Franklin, only they’re criminals instead of philosophers. I honestly think it would be somewhat cool if GTA VI had some ready for action type of protagonist who is a student of Franklin (but Franklin already had his fair share of being a protagonist so he won’t be here) akin to Alexander the Great as IRL, he was a student of Aristotle. Who knows? Perhaps Michael had a Socrates-like mentor as that’s who mentored Plato back in Ancient Greece.

Even if I love driving the Hunter to travel it's far to be as convenient as many persons say to play a vigilante submission. Many urban areas are filled with high billboards which make it difficult to destroy the targets even more since the rocket launcher is nearly useless. Everytime I play a vigilante job in 3, VC & SA I use my favorite road vehicle even if I have to make some long detours from time to time.

gta 5 and san andreas sometimes feel better than gta 4 to drive at high speeds due to long roads. i’ normally choose gta 4’s style but liberty city didn’t have countryside to speed up and keep it long enough.

Trevor is exactly what I want in a GTA protagonist. The game (beyond the main story) is about raising Hell, breaking the law and murdering copious amounts of police officers. Everyone has done more random rampages than they can count, I'm sure. Yet people always seem to want "depth" and "inner conflict" in their protagonists? No, I want an absolute psychopath, to reflect the behaviour that is rewarded in-game. Claude in GTA3 is the only other character I feel achieves this completely, but he's silent, so doesn't express any enjoyment in his actions, whereas Trevor enjoys doing the things I enjoy pressing buttons to make him do.

See to me Trevor does have more depth and inner conflict than most GTA protagonists. It's touched on a lot throughout the game although perhaps some of the more over the top/silly stuff distracts from it. He has a well fleshed out back story, a relatively complex personality and you can tell Steven Ogg tried to give his character a lot of depth. I agree that him being intense and violent and raising hell etc fits the game well, but to me what makes him a great protagonist is that he isn't only that, there's more nuance and interesting aspects to the character than just a generic crazy psycho.

Oh, absolutely. My main point was the enjoyment he gets from carnage, which perfectly reflects my experience in the game. :)

I don’t know how unpopular of an opinion this is either but sort of in regards to my previous “unpopular opinion”, I find it to be quite cool how Michael, Trevor, and Franklin all met and got to know each other (as much as I dislike Trevor though I’ve been toning it down on him, much like my boss, SonOfLiberty). Trevor is Canadian, from Calgary in Alberta to be exact (at least I’m assuming that’s where he’s from in Canada considering that’s where Steven Ogg is from) while Michael is a North Dakota boy (referred to as North Yankton in the game) and Franklin is from the hood streets in Los Angeles, or should I say, Los Santos. Three very different parts of the North American continent. Plus, where Michael and Trevor grew up, it was probably just about all white whereas Franklin is black himself and from a very ethnically diverse part of the United States. Michael and Trevor are also obviously MUCH more used to cold weather than Franklin. The prologue and where the characters are from kinda prove just that. Also, as I previously talked about in regards to the mentor-student relationship between Michael and Franklin, neither one of them grew up that wealthy I bet, either with Franklin being from a ghetto neighborhood and Michael probably being from some podunk small town in the Midwest. Both of them have a rags to riches background. Michael and his original gang, consisting of Trevor, Lester, Brad, and the nameless getaway driver also sorta puts a more modernized version of Bonnie and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, the Dillinger Gang, and the Barker-Karpis Gang into consideration. Not entirely a bad thing.

Since you brought up the weather, here's an opinion that mightn't be popular:

- Regardless of being gritty or not, I prefer the cold weathers of winter and late autumn to the sunny settings in GTA titles.

Me too actually. Although VC was great and it was set in sunny Florida, I actually think the northeast and Midwest are FANTASTIC settings for GTA titles. I also wholeheartedly believe that a GTA title set in Europe or Canada would breathe a lot of fresh air into the series, as I’ve stated before.

Hmmm, I'm not sure where I stand on this. In the 3D universe, I prefer III's setting to Vice City or San Andreas, but in HD, I prefer V to IV. Although that might be my bias against IV in general showing through...

The 3D era vs HD era arguments are worse than the GTA IV vs GTA V arguments. As someone whose been a fan of the series since the 90s it's kind of embarrassing actually. Yes I know I have to be careful with my words since I sledge San Andreas routinely and I'm not a big fan of LCS or VCS either, but two of my top three GTAs are from the 3D era so it evens out.

It's one thing to prefer one game over another, but the "gangsta" mentality of "us" and "them" really doesn't make much sense to me. Some people really seem to struggle that the series has moved on and have difficulty accepting it too. I still play the 3D era GTAs from time to time, but I'd be lying if I said I play them with the same amount of enthusiasm as I did in 2001-2004.

Both eras have their pros and cons, but often I feel the HD era is seen as "evil" and the 3D era can do no wrong and it's f*cking stupid.

GTA V & Online made old Rockstar dreams come true which is amazing

- R* wanted to make GTA Online since GTA2 (GTA: Online Crime World), but then made GTAIII

- First Person View is something they wanted in GTAIII & VC

- Multiple character and the ability to seemingly switch between them, which is something they wanted to do in SA, but couldn't

GTAIV was a good game and one I thoroughly enjoyed, but it is also overrated as hell, esp on these forums.

The Starfish Island mansion in GTA Vice City is totally overrated. This place is nothing but an empty nutshell filled with hallways and some rooms here and there. To make things even worse when you take control of it the entry hall looks like a junkyard.

Especially later in the story when Pizza boxes and trash start laying around. With the money Tommy is making, you think he'd hire a cleaner or something..

That would be boring though. Vice City was the first GTA to have interiors on a significant level and these kind of details really just make them fell like they're being "lived" in. Besides Tommy doesn't come across like an uptight yuppie only interested in keeping up appearances.

I really could imagine him having no problem with his boys getting pizza, drinking beer, maybe getting some strippers over just to have a good time and not give the slightest f*ck whether anyone cleans it up or not.
