I find crouching helps me be more accurate while shooting targets, and i seem to take less fire from enemies while crouching, particularly in San Andreas. In GTA IV though I prefer cover to crouch, it's much better in protecting you and makes the shootouts feel more immersive to me for some reason. Perhaps some may prefer the challenge of shootouts without taking cover

I've just been playing SA for the first time in years and I've been finding this is true! I've never really used crouch in any GTA games but I noticed it one mission where it put me in crouch position it seemed to help me take less fire, so I've been doing it more. I agree it makes it feel more immersive by adding that extra element/variation to the shootout, I'll have to try it more in other games.

Channel X is just a bad version of IV's LCHC. It's missing everything that made LCHC great: the energy, the aggression, the epic guitar solos. It's just boring low tier punk.

I think it's mostly just an east coast/west coast thing. LCHC is east coast hardcore punk but Channel X is more melodic west coast punk. I prefer Channel X tbh

Just watched GTA2: The Movie and I gotta say it really had the potential to be a whole and huge movie of it's own rather than just an 8-minute promotional shortfilm. Hell, it could've been the gateway to R* entering Hollywood and making up something like a Rockstar Hollywood movie studio that makes both live-action movies and in-game machinimas about the GTA series.

What I didn't like, though, was only Scott Maslen being credited for Claude's role in the movie (could've credited Ian McQue for the Zaibatsu assassin role atleast) but that's fine.

^ Agreed 100%. Perhaps I could at least try to write GTA 2 as a whole movie. And yes, I’m not gonna lie. The GTA 2 movie was very entertaining in deed. And yes, I know gangs like the Leone crime family, Forelli crime family, Triad, and Colombian Cartel as well as characters such as Donald Love really didn’t appear until GTA 3 but I thought I might put them in there alongside the already existing Yakuza (in both games) and Russian Mafia.

Speaking of which...

Another unpopular opinion of mine is simply that the Russian Mafia made no appearance in GTA 3 like they did in 2. I honestly would’ve liked to see Claude go on missions for them in GTA 3 as well.

I think GTA: SA was most scary rockstar game, because these supposed myths were just myths. They did more questions than answers and that how it works in real life.

On the other is RDR2 when you are bumping into literally ghosts almost every night.

RDR 2 can really scare the living sh*t out of you sometimes. There are literal cannibals on the North-east part of the map and a faction of deranged devil worshipers gruesomly killing people around the swamp area. I've had my fair share of ''wholesome' moments with both of those groups.

I stopped playing RDR2, mostly because of these weird thing. I love wandering across map, but when I am afraid of ingame night in game supposed to be realistic is creepy. Graphic and details is sure icing on cake...

Another weird thing is that Arthur says nothing. Like Im the biggest pussy in this world, Arthur says nothing and Im sh*tless behind monitor.

I dunno mate, I had a kickass time exploring the countryside for the first time in SA, it was really refreshing to be able to go into rural areas after years of playing GTA3 and VC where you're constantly stuck in urban landscape. I even used to roleplay as a camping guy real often (I'm sure many of you have done that).

Although after reading all those Bigfoot, Leatherface and what-not myths on the internet, I felt very, very slightly (like 0.001%) hesitant to stay at one place for too long in the forest areas, maybe I should've have read so much dumb creepypasta together in one sitting lol.

Later on, I modded the hell out of the game and discovered that there was no such crap as all these "myths". And besides, it was 2004, how in Sam Hill would've R* implemented all that into SA with such limited technology lmao:kekw:

I also feel that sometimes when playing San Andreas, especially when entering interiors like Big Smoke's Crack Palace, the expensive safehouses in Las Venturas, or Area 69 with the anti-police cheat. It just feels odd to be alone, liminal space effect.

In addition, I think Rockstar is literally exploring the possibility of creating literal horror game right now ever since GTA V was released. GTA V have UFO, infinity killer, Alturist cult, and others... but RDR2 takes it to the next level with ghosts everywhere, UFO again, vampire of Saint Denis, Skinner Brother, and many others.

I don't know what they gonna bring for GTA VI, giant alligator in Florida everglades?

San Andreas' countryside just can't be compared to RDR2's world. SA never felt creepy to me, well, maybe just a little bit. But those myths were mostly just making me laugh instead of making me feel scared because I knew it's all bullcrap, besides, what's a bigfoot gonna do to me, lol. On the other hand, in RDR2 you literally see people being mutilated and whatnot. RDR2 should be considered a bit of a horror game because of those things. I can only imagine what R* would do in an actual horror game.

I swear one of the early game tips tells you that. I've known it for years, though I've never really bothered to crouch when shooting :D

I think horror game will not work, I dont like these games because I know that Im playing horror games so I get weird creepy stuff.

RDR2 works great as it this, these things are really scary because you are not expecting these kind of things in game with realistic approach.

Tldr- Horror games feels like haunted house rides. RDR2 feels like you experienced paranormal phenomena in real life...

Yeah liminal spaces, probably backrooms(If this was thing back in days) in some interior map. Its not called ghost world by no means. I used to have teleport mod and I get teleported even to Liberty City. I get tip to actually rise water level to made LC fully exporable. Biggest mistake Ive ever made in game, it was something really scary for me when I get this things working.

Well according to RDR2 most weird things happen in swamps. GTA VI if set in Florida will probably have some eerie sh*t for sure. But Im not sure if it will be on par with RDR2 lore. Im having big doubts according to latest wrongdoings in Rockstar games.

It's not something GTA-related, but hear me out on this...

Leo Kasper from Manhunt 2 is the only R* antagonist that fully qualifies for the role of a protagonist.

Think about it, he's strong and intelligent, the government gave him such harsh training that he went insane. And he kept working towards his former employees even after dying and then existing as a small figment of someone else's mind.

Hell, he probably had his entire family wiped out considering how little there is to known about him and there's an unused player model of him in pyjamas on the PSP version of the game which somewhat hints to involve Leo's past.

While Daniel Lamb was a really well-fleshed out character, he kinda looks like a "lame"-ish nerd compared to Leo.

I refuse to acknowledge that this crap of a map in Grand Theft Auto V is Southern San Andreas.

More like, 10% - or less - of Southern San Andreas.

He's based on the Zodiac Killer sketch so looks can be deceiving.

Also it's a big shame that no one really talks about Manhunt 2. The first one had a great story and atmosphere but the second one was just as good. I think I felt more for Danny and Leo than I did Cash. I also liked how they opted out the VHS slasher horror feel of the first game for a more Fight Club/Silent Hill-inspired form of psychological horror mixed in with a lot of Hostel/Irreversible for good measure. Seemed to be a big trend back in the mid-late 2000s.

This is probably one of my favorite cutscenes in any Rockstar game period.

My unpopular opinion is GTA VC while is the most overrated game, I can still appreciate and enjoy it. But for those who feel GTA VC has anything even close to a "good story", those people need to be put in a mental penitentiary and get a lobotomy to see how their brain can possibly function with such radical and objectively wrong beliefs.

Yeah, the music in that cutscene is kickass.

But there's two things I've always found jarring about the Manhunt franchise is that the base of both games' storylines are nearly unexplained.

Like, Cash has literally zero personal information about himself (e.g: who or what was he and what did he do to get a death sentence) or Leo's only motivation for going against The Project being revenge for a completely unknown event that feels entirely... "missing" or cut from Manhunt 2 (although the therapy session recordings on the now-down MH2 website do imply he was trained a tad too roughly which made him go crazy).

Manhunt 2 itself is a complete mess in terms of story-telling and layout of the scenes. The game was probably meant to be a lot more elaborate and complicated and was put together prematurely before it was finalised. Playing it leaves me a sour taste in my mouth, not gonna lie.

Also the retarded feature of enemies' heads exploding upon touching... like Jesus lol, that's too over the top even for 3D universe standards. Imagine tapping a guy's head and it breaks into mush. Ridiculous.

Oh yeah, even the TCRF article says that at least a dozen levels were axed out from the game and based on the numbering on the levels' files, it seems like the order of the game's storyline was originally going to be very vastly different. I believe the development of the game being shifted from R* Vienna to R* London\Leeds\Toronto following the closure of the original developers' offices must've caused this.

IDK why, but video game sequels almost always tend to be kinda... "disappointing"-ish despite running on a massively upgraded engine compared to the first game. Max Payne 2 is kinda the same with an epically modifiable game engine and very stubby storyline. I wonder why we don't get to see a combination of both a good story and an awesome game engine SMH...

BTW for me, the most interesting sounding scrapped MH2 levels are "History Museum", "Sorority House", "New House" (unknown level placed after "Personality Clash" and "Release Therapy") and the five bonus levels, the first two could've served as an explanation to Leo's past at the very least.

Yeah, TBH Manhunt's level of violence does seem a tad too far-fetched in some scenes, but I gotta say the gunfights feel a lot more raw and cooler than in any Max Payne game.

AFAIK if R* were to ever dare and make Manhunt 3 on the RAGE engine, they'd have to keep the violence within the bounds of reality but then that would break stuff with old fans sooo...

I never cared for the III, VC, and SA perennials. The LCS and VCS ones looked much better.

Speaking of which, I really liked the car redesigns in LCS. Shame they didn’t carry over to VCS but at least it was something new

Unironically I prefer the (OG) Trilogy design of the Perennial over the Stories one, the former had gotten so iconic for me that the latter just always felt kinda... "disaster"-ish.

But I do agree with the other thing you said, however.

This place reminded me about something...

- IN GRANDY THEFTY AUTOMOBILY #3 (original, mainly), err HOW DOES ONE (read: quite MANY actually) MANAGE TO FLIP THE AMBULANCE SO DAMN EASILY? Or at the very least make it sound like it's so damng easy? I haven't managed this according to me recollections while playing Paramedic. HAVE I BEEN PLAYING A DIFFERENT GAME? How do peoples play? I drive recklessly, brake using SQUARE mostly, when stopping then SQUARE + R1. I avoid certain bumpy areas though with it, but even with those I usually manage it. OR IS IT BECAUSE I TRY TO PREVENT IT THROUGH VARIOUS MEANS SUCH AS: 1 - being cautious in certain areas + 2 - steering, accelerating, braking, counter-steering, turning, stopping, younameit.

(Herd this is still in that fukken DE, but I dunno crap about it.)

Now I can hear ye asking "Do ye think you're so great game god then?" and I would say, well I'd say that somewhat, plus if I fail that sub-machine gun sub-missionez, it's moar liek because I manage to run over a patient somehow at ze wrong time.

Just gotta say one thing to OP, Liberty City + countryside is something I'd like to see, even upstate or mainland Liberty, as long as the island style concept will be gone in future GTAs.

That Lionel Richie song that got cut from Vice City after the original PS2 release, "Running with the Night", wasn't any real loss. Not only I don't remember it all and I listened to FLASH FM p often as a kid playing the original PS2 version but also it just doesn't really fit the rest of that station.

Running with the Night isn't really that much bad TBH, it kinda fits Flash FM well IMO and in fact, it sounds a bit better than most of the other songs present on the station.
