On other forums, as well as the general chat of this forum, there are threads titled 'Unpopular Opinion Threads', so I thought I would make one about GTA.

So enough explanation, what are your unpopular opinions about GTA:

• GTA V is the Rockstar GTA
• GTA V is the best game ever made
• GTA San Andreas had a bad Infernus
• The government corruption theme is better than the gangsta theme
• The lack of vehicle variety is the biggest problem with GTA IV
• GTA V had a great story
• GTA San Andreas had a bad story.
• GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony is better than GTA The Lost and Dammed
• Dancing and Hydralics were much worse minigames than Yoga and Bowling.
• The gym should never return in a future GTA
• Liberty City (+ countryside) should be the setting for GTA VI, as overused as New York is, it has never reached full potential
• 'GTA Clone' is one of the, if not the most ignorant terminology ever.
• GTA V Plane Physics > GTA SA Plane Physics

Taxi missions are one of the worst features in the GTA series.

Yoga isn't that bad.

I would rather kill Derrick over Francis.

CJ was a pussy.

Michael Townley could beat Tommy Vercetti in a fight.

I liked GTA V's story

GTA VC's map wasn't small.

Claude Speed is one of the worst protagonists to date.

I would rather have Bernie Crane be a protagonist over Luis.

I think Johnny's death and transformation was a realistic, gritty moment that was perfectly portrayed in V.

- The driving in GTA IV is the most fun and engaging in the series

- IV's missions are neither boring or repetitive

- CJ isn't whiny

- Vice City needs to be revisited in the next iteration

- Vice City can be done without being set the 80's

- The jetpack isn't fun

- Vigilante missions are the best side missions in the series

- RC missions are the worst side missions in the series

- GTA VCS is the least crime related in the series

- It's Toni Sip-riani not Toni Kip-riani

- The voice acting in V was largely hit and miss

- The pigeons in IV are an enjoyable collectible

- The friend calls in IV are a nice touch

- Locked islands are better than having the whole map available from the start

- GTA Advance wasn't that bad

- The driving in V is borderline boring

- Denise is the worst girlfriend in the entire series

- Liberty City is the best city

- V's musical score is better than it's radio soundtrack

- SA is the only 3D era GTA that hasn't aged well

- GTA Online is good

- Claude killed Maria at the end of GTA III

- Catalina (or someone similar) would not make a good protagonist

- The switching mechanic in V was executed poorly

- A large majority of the vehicles should be purchasable instead of banking on car spawns

- Boats need more love in the series

-Contrary to belief there are things to do after GTA IV's story (although this is more of a fact than an opinion).

 

That is a fact and it is a fact for every open world game.

GTA V's side activities and customization are boring.

 

Vice City is the worst 3D era setting.

 

San Fierro is the best SA city.

 

GTA lacks another title like Chinatown Wars.

 

Both Liberty Cities are the best cities in both eras.

 

SA's so-called 'character development elements' (gyms, eating, becoming fat etc.) and gang wars are boring.

 

Side activities aren't really important.

 

The property thing from VC and V isn't needed.

SA's story was a bit all over the place.

V's story sucked.

Jerkov from GTA2 is creepier than Trevor.

-I don't get all the love for Johnny, I've never found him that interesting. However, he's still better than Luis.

 

-The hydrolics minigame in SA is terrible, as is the dancing minigame in TBOGT.

 

- I like hanging out with friends in IV, and in V but to a lesser extent.

 

-Lazlow Jones is an unfunny douche. I always flip the station when he comes on.

 

-RC missions are terrible.

 

-Timed missions also lean on the bad side (not sure if this is really an unpopular opinion though).

 

-Ron is one of my favorite NPCs in V.

 

-The cars in III suck, because they're too weak. All it takes is about three hits for the engine to burst into flames, which can be annoying in certain missions.

 

-Most of the male character in IV have sexy accents, especially Niko.

I'll shoot.

 

- San Andreas was too big for its time. (Except I didn't realize this when I played it. It's not too big now though. Confusing, yeah.)

- GTA IV's story wasn't good, it wasn't the pulp drivel you usually see with games, but it wasn't good either.

- Most of the commercials are really unfunny.

- The Serrated Edge from IV was the only good TV show in IV, the rest were only worth watching once. I have really weird tastes for shows irl too though.

- Trevor was a great idea, but he didn't at all come off as what he was supposed to be. Trevor was a really awkward character in the game.

- The III era mafia was the best antagonistic element in any of the games.

- That especially includes Dimitiri Rascalov. I have no idea why so many people think he was a good, or even decent, villain. Where was he for like 90% of the game?

- All of the DLCs for GTA: Online so far have sucked really hard. High Life will probably suck really hard too. (It's nice that they're all free though.)

- Stats in San Andreas were a good feature. It's the need to grind them up for some opportunities and missions that should be blamed for being annoying.

- Zero's missions in San Andreas were actually pretty fun.

- Chop was a bad feature.

- It's good fun to set Chop on fire.

- GTA: Advanced was a good game in regard to to other GBA games.

- GTA: Chinatown Wars was a good game period. It's a shame it doesn't get more attention.

- Most of III's Liberty City was boring. (Portland was the nice part, and the consistently best borough/city in any GTA game.)

- The ability to customize cars makes the game less fun. An optional color chooser at Pay 'n Spray would be nice, but anything else makes the cars too much different from any other in-game car, and it's kinda distracting.

- (It also takes away the appeal of collecting special cars from mission-giving NPCs, which was a fun accidental feature.)

- V's wilderness/countryside was a lot better than San Andreas'.

 

I'll edit in more if I think of them. (Or see any that I want to expand on.)

 

- Wrong Side of The Tracks is not a hard mission at all. All you have to do is roll up beside the gangster that Big Smoke is shooting at, move over a little if he's not playing the "I got shot" animation, and look a couple hundred feet ahead of the motorcycle to see oncoming danger.

- Algonquin was a bad representation of Manhattan. (But it's nice that they tried, and it's nice that they did it better than a lot of games have.)

- Roaming animals didn't improve the series.

- Rockstar should quit with the Faggio jokes.

- Packie was the dullest of the five McReary siblings.

- The Patriot vehicle was at its best in San Andreas when it was exclusively a beige military Humvee.

- The smaller planes, such as the Mallard, or the Cuban 800 are the best aircraft. TBoGT's Buzzard is the next best. Almost every other aircraft is incredibly boring or pointless to use in-game.

No it's not. This is like saying England is bigger than Russia.

 

SA's map is physically smaller. That is a fact . Although like I said above I believe its design is better.

A few more unpopular opinions:

• GTA III and GTA Liberty City Stories have the worst licensed soundtracks in the series
• 3D Era Liberty City is the worst map out of all the 3D/HD Universe maps
• Planes were not removed from GTA IV due to map size, they were removed because of 9/11
• Map design is a feature that has only gotten better since GTA III
• Gameplay > Story (although this is more of a fact as games simply wouldn't exist is there was no gameplay)
• The Serrated Edge in GTA IV was a horrible TV show
• I don't want nightclubs added to GTA V due to the inevitable dancing minigame that would be added
• The GTA IV fanbase is the worst GTA fanbase (apologies to the respectable IV fans)

These are some of my opinions:

 

- I Loved GTA IV's soundtrack

- San Andreas had the most uninteresting storyline.

- Toni Cipriani and Vic Vance were decent protagonists

- Yusuf Amir is my favorite character

- Claude was the most selfish careless protagonist with no remorse or regret

- The highway system in |SA was horrible

- Stranger and Freaks missions are somewhat fun

- vehicles side missions are the worst

- GTA IV had fun missions

- GTA V has boring shooting mechanics to the point where most guns have no recoil

- Driving mechanics in the 3D era were horrendous

- Vice City didn't have a great story but wasn't terrible

- "wrong side of the tracks" is not the hardest mission in San Andreas

- GTA IV needed a extra hospital in South Algonquin

- Ryder was a Busta

- Big Smoke and Gerald look alike

I realise this is the unpopular opinions thread, but why would you take a swipe at a whole fanbase then try to "apologise" to the respectable fans? I find some SA and even GTA V fans can be very irritating, but I don't believe it's enough to write off either fanbase as being the "worst".

 

You get your good and bad in every group. I don't think it's fair to say one group is the worst. If IV fans like Stingrayx said this about the GTA V fanbase how would you react? Honestly this is why some IV fans don't like or respect you to be blunt.

 

Like I've said to you over pm I don't think you're a bad guy, but I really don't know how you can try to convince people you're not a IV hater yet at the same time say things like this.

-GTA III had sh*t radio. Chatterbox and Flashback was good. Except one song on Head Radio, everything else sucked.

-Vice City is terribly overrated. Before people throw a tantrum at me, I do like the game (Great soundtrack, vibe and map), but I still don´t get why people think Tommy was such a good protagonist, or why people praise the story so much.

-The death of Johnny K wasn´t such a big deal.

-FlyLo FM is the greatest station in GTA V
-The original score for GTA V is one of the greatest soundtracks in a videogame.

-The cops in GTA V are great.

-In GTA V's missions, I'd rather have no checkpoints at all than checkpoints every section of a mission.

I have to say I agree. Personally I find missions like Pegorino's Pride harder to be honest.

• The Palomino Highlands is the best rural destination in V
• Mount Gordo is the best mountain in V
• The phonecalls in IV were not annoying
• IV's gloomy environment is great and deep whilst V's shiny environment is shallow and not that mesmerizing
• The Vibe was a good station and so was IF99

-SA on PC had poor graphics compared to iOS/ Android.
