@ OP Passive mode is screwed up......you can still be killed while in your vehicle and on foot by being ran over ect....

 

I hate random killing, but do enjoy some good gun fights in the city or other areas around the map....

there are times when i am not in the mood to fight in free roam and dont want to take part in it...during these times i start an invite only lobby and invite only friends who will have respect for each other

 

All of us play more than one game online....my other go genre is COD (now Ghost or BO 2) which is kill kill kill

 

But GTA5 offers more than just killing, exploring the map, finding those odd areas, searching for cars, racing, both in freeroam and as a job i like the freeroam inpromptu racing ....So respect should be something we practice

 

I enjoy freeroam and enjoy making new friends, but freeroam is a hard place to meet people because of the kill or be killed attitide...and it makes it hard to enjoy the free roam grind when it comes to robbing stores, exporting cas to simeon or just grabbing them and stealing them or doing gang attacks

 

but the thing that grips me is people who have the chat setting set to friends/crew only ....they seem to be the worst for greifing and random killing,

On the rare occassion in freeroam that it will happen with me hearing someone call my name out and say i am coming for you, your dead ect... I say bring it on and have a good time with the challenge of figuring out who the other person is and seeing if i can best them

Neither and sometimes both however I'd prefer not to be the alluring taste for every LS patron to hunt any moving thing down. Predator and prey leaves out an awful lot of middlemen so a bit of a pointless question on the subject overall.

Still don't understand how people get griefed.

 

I haven't been shot off my bmx, or any other bike. Not been blown up, not been killed in a shop, customs for about 3 months. I usually scan the map before I do anything, see who is close by every 10-15 seconds.

 

When a tank comes. I go passive. The map is so damn huge I can find numerous routes to safety. So I don't understand for example how that guy who ran out of ammo just simply couldn't go either passive mode or just quick job and transport somewhere else.

 

People's pride is usually a factor in getting griefed.

There's nothing beta about it. It's just that some people are tired of the kill kill KILL mentality of a lot of players. It's almost gotten to the point where you can't do anything in free roam without some douche in a tank or some trigger happy asshole killing you just because you are there. And don't give me the "you got too close to them" line because most times when you purposely go out of your way to avoid players, they chase you down. It gets old fast. I had a guy yesterday blow up my car from behind with a tank while a friend of mine and i were driving away from his dot and didn't even know he was in a tank. How were we a threat? Since he didn't pay my insurance i reported him for griefing, voted to kick him and gave him a few choice words over the mic. He said i was a hypocrite because i'd do the same with my tank. I told him he was wrong and the only time i get my tank out is for cop battles or to defend myself from assholes like him and i make it a point to not destroy PV's.

 

And the problem with private lobbies is no one is in them. there should be public lobbies where pvp is not the primary objective of free roam. Go watch the trailer again. Notice people cruising around, doing stuff together? R* didn't intend for freeroam to be "all PvP all the time." The immature players did that.

We know who´s beta when people enters a DM, capture, LTS... THEN we really know who´s beta.

I don't hunt players for fun unlike those stupid mofos who enjoy free roam deathmatches,I hunt only deserving prey who ask for it

Anyway, can someone please explain what's unreasonable about wanting to go onto freeroam and be able to go from A to B without being shot by a twat with an assault rifle? If I want to go and get some new clothes for the character or to see what I have unlocked, what's so bad about not wanting to be shot whilst inside the clothes store?

Random story from last night. Drove my Alpha out of my garage at weasel. Got shot at by an assault rifle before I was even out the door.. Managed to survive somehow, jumped out and saw three guys in the courtyard. One on passive and two not. Managed to kill the two guys. The passive guy was following me around telling the other guys where I was etc.

 

They started saying they need to get rid of me so they can glitch the car the guy wanted. Anyway I was annoyed for being shot at so I kept killing them until they went across the road to regroup.

 

Then I went back in my garage to get my voodoo, this time when I drove out everything was sweet and I was parked at the edge of the road when a French guy drove past and blew it up with as sticky..

 

Dude was pretty skilled and pretty skilled at annoying people it seemed because he ended up holed up in the under construction building with about 6 guys after him Lol.

 

I ended up making it to the top floor where he was but he took me out just as I was about to shotgun him. Then I observed the war from a distance. In the end I got him once from another roof with the heavy sniper while he was running across the top of the construction, was a lucky shot really.

 

Then he took out my parked buzzard and also sniped me when I was about to jump off. There was a lot of verbal anti French abuse over mic and he was abusing back in French although no one knew what he was saying Lol. Anyway, another typical freeroam session. I froze on the way back up the construction building while off radar so went back to invite.

 

Give the guy credit though, there were a lot of people after him and he was doing about six kills per death against them.

it's only the idiots that think GTA has to be PvP at all times and want to force some bullsh*t competitive dribble-drabble down everyone's throats. sooooooo...BASICALLY they want you to play GTA like it's a generic military shooter. can't honestly see how it's fun playing peek-a-boo with plastic peashooters.

 

plus i play "competitive" games enough as it is. I don't want to play a few sessions of Battlefield 4, put in GTA....and somehow only end up playing Battlefield 4 with retarded handicaps.

 

however, i wouldn't mind a good fist fight once in a while..hell, how come nobody ever beats the sh*t out of someone with a tire iron?

Also, i don't think anyone likes to get killed...but there's a difference between getting killed fairly & getting griefed. No one has a problem with getting killed if they f*cked up or deserved it, but I think everyone does have a problem with being the punch-line to someone else's fun unfairly.

Free roam is supposed to be a deathmatch in some sense, R* have made it that way. I'm not saying its right but but it was what it is, just embrace it and learn to keep up or continue to whine and be a victim.

To be honest I think things have a settled a lot, I remember the first few months of this game you couldn't drive for 2 minutes before the white dots were bearing down looking for trouble, now, even a carebear like myself is skipping sessions looking for a more active free roam lobby to have some fun in.

I would love nothing more than to be able to enter into some simple old school TDM all night but R* have made it their mission to completely destroy that game mode. Between line of sight, auto-aim, forced weapons and a million unplayable user created piles of sh*t, it's very hard to get into a decent deathmatch, so freemode becomes the natural battleground.

There's plenty of ways to interact. Having friends/ crew helps. Given the set up though it's hopeless idealism not expect hostility from about 90% of randoms.
