semantics mate, after gta 2, lets be honest, GTA wasnt really factored around the idea of car theft, yeh, ill give it to you that 1/2 was really about cars and getting them to where they needed to be, but from gta 2, its not really so much about cars as it is completing missions that primarily involve killing people

GTA, since GTA 3 has always been about working your way up by killing anyone in your way, just look at GTA Vice City, Tommy Vercetti was based on Tony Montana and it began when you got out of prison for committing 13 murders, he was nicknamed the Harwood Butcher if I remember correctly and that's before the player got hold of him, there were chainsaws and katana's and when you chopped someones head off it would spray a fountain of blood.

In my opinion, Free Roam is just that. Free to roam the streets to go to a mission, find or customize a car, meet up with friends.......it shouldn't be a warzone of twankers and trolls.

 

It's simple. People like to play the game with a certain amount of decorum, myself included. Don't tell us to p!$$ off and play Sims or insult us for being a 'sissy' or a 'fag'.......accept that some people don't like to play the game like it's a non stop, free for all deathmatch.

then you picked the wrong game...you can get killed... mugged..run over...a bounty placed on you by npcs...and you expect to go into that world immune. You need another game to play...they didn't design freemode with you in mind.

The fact remains that your attempt at countering the suggestion that you try deathmatch, so you could get paid for killing players, was pretty damn weak. Weaker than the Disney Jr cartoon your identity is based on.... I can only assume you're one of those that can't handle PvP on as level playing field. How many kills did you farm 'training' your wife for free roam? Before you 'allowed' her to play? So pathetic.

Exactly. That's one thing that annoys me about GTAO. Sometimes (read MOST of the time) when I am in public lobbies, i just want to do my own thing and enjoy the online world without getting constantly griefed. That usually involves cruising around in a car which makes passive useless. The last thing i want is some jackass trying to force me to PvP.

 

I've lost track of how many times i've left a session via the character wheel because some douche started attacking me unprovoked and i refused to give him the satisfaction of getting a kill.

it's fun to get into vehicular highjinks in LS. it's where the game got it's name. but even then, there's other sh*t you can do besides try to turn a sandbox game into a boring military shooter, there's other things you can toy with besides what you see on the weapons wheel and there's other places you can buy things from besides ammunation. and it's even funner when you find someone who's somewhat like-minded and wants to join in on whatever you're doing, instead of just limiting yourself to the same people you play with constantly. not trying to dictate how people should play, but invite only is a lazy&half-assed suggestion(especially when it seems more like these types of players should just f*ck off and go play deathmatch) and it does get irritating sometimes when you're doing something actually fun and some doofus tries to shove his playstyle down your throat after getting murdered in Battlefield/CoD. especially when the motherf*cker keeps coming back.

Why would you randomly shoot someone going about their business anyway. Little dicks do it do me all the time. Last night after we all legit level 130-200) players had spent hours going around the map with sub's and cargobobs. Some level 80 knob showed up in a buzzard and tried to blow up our gear. He took out one of the cargobob before we could shot him down.

 

Once he was down we moved to another part of the map and he came at us again... I ended up rampaging him and chasing him all over the map, while my friends continued having stress free fun until he made it to his apartment and wouldn't come out anymore.

 

Little freaks, so annoying.

The fact remains...if you go into free mode you can be killed...its designed that way. Complaining here accomplishes nothing. Wishing it wasnt so accomplishes nothing. What you feel free mode should be means nothing. Kill or don't enter at your own risk.

Yeah, I think the next GTA (Griefing Trolling Assholes) Online should get rid of the cars altogether, and give everyone more guns, rockets and tanks. That's where it's headed, clearly.

Sure in that story the world they live in is dog eat dog and very violent...but there are "rules" that they follow and a sort of honor that would be awesome in GTAO. As it is right now it is just...blah most of the time. I do admit that mindless killing among friends can be a blast (such as trying to shoot the wing flaps off planes as they fly around and whatnot but 'accidentally" shooting them in the face.)

 

Free roam needs, in my opinion, more co op events, and even factions of some sort. RP for killing gang members and cops, and "gang" events like RDR where they are stongholds. make these strongholds super hard to complete solo to promote team work, and make it to where there are special items that the player can get for completing these strongholds that cannot be gained any other way. Just something, anything at this point besides more suits and cars (though I do admit some of the vehicles have been fun.)

To me people don't like being killed is because they want to enjoy the game, roam around the island/city, mainly enjoy the experience. If they keep getting killed then they will either quit playing or end up having their K/D rate go way down the drain. In my definition if you get a thrill just random killing people for no reason at all than you are just a jerk that obviously has issues in your life. I don't kill anyone unless the come at me and try to kill me. Passive Mode has been a handicap method since it's introduction. If someone is in Passive Mode, i won't run them over simple because they can't defend themselves and won't have to pay for their hospital bills.
