Melee DMs

If I come across a glitcher in a dm I just leave...I just do the one running punch after I spawn.

I'd join if I ever saw one. I hardly even see competitive modes at all. But I think melee is quite fun. Though I think it is very inconsistent and random, it usually makes for a nice laugh. If anything, just to watch my character mindlessly swing at the air, only to get lunged at by another player from 10 feet away while facing the opposite direction.

the running attacks can be countered, you either run off enough to do it yourself, or if you do it too both characters will mostly just shove each other.

 

it's not a glitch, it's a cheap tactic, but it's not like the melee sys is accurate to begin with.

 

excuse me if running attacks are the only way you can feel in control of a lagfest.

 

melee PVP is broken, but it's still fun.

 

let's just not talk about anyone being more skilled because there's no skill involved.

just button mashing hoping it connects.

If you want to make a thread where all the people who enjoy melee fights for some reason can converse, then you should learn to f*cking write proper sentences to convey your thoughts.

I'd enjoy them if the melee system in this game wasn't so atrocious.

 

The only ones I enjoy are when you're all on like a pipe or something and you knock each other off. When its just an open area they suck.

I like them. Only if they are fair though. I played one not too long ago with the crew that I actually liked. It had lawnmowers, but those things are so slow, you're only able to push a person with it, not run them over.

I like them a lot, but there's almost always someone who glitch punches so that just ruins them for me.

What is a glitch punch?

It's where people do the running punch to you multiple times (one after another), so you can't get a hit in and you can't block either. It's really annoying.

 

 

You could move out of the way when you see one coming

 

anyway, I like these. nobody ever wants to box for long though

Melee is f*cked up in this game. It was better in GTA 4. We didn't get machine gun fists.

Auto-invite is awful. You have to find a group that's into a little of everything so that when you suggest melee dms, they'll be into it. I think melee are the best dms I've played, but I'd really like to see a workable demolition derby dm too.

I would like to say it requires a bit more thought than your average 'melee' battle, environmental challenges (cars) and psychotic elements (people who can't do without guns) are thrown together for what I hope is an enjoyable diversion,

which just happens to pay $21K+ as a regular deathmatch, $15K+ (for each team member) as a team DM, if you have at least 8+ people in the game.

I have two you can try, if you're on PS3. I still don't know how it determines a winner, but somehow it actually seems to choose the person who dealt the most vehicle damage - again, i have no idea how. Maybe there's some other factor playing a part in it.

 

First one is a smaller, standard style derby. Pick a car, drive into the arena, go to town. People seem to really like it, but there's always some idiot who can't read the description and bitches about there not being any weapons, then down votes it.

Second one takes place on the pier. Bigger arena, so more room to get speed for big hits. Hidden vehicles scattered around. This one is a ton of fun.

Edit: unless the creator is smart enough to actually make the play field big enough so its not a cluster f*ck. But nobody does that.
