Why doesn't GTA V have a fun community like GTA IV did back in 200

Legendary IV players? I played on the PS3, and most(all the time) in free mode, I had no idea there were a strong community, all I know is I f*cking loved cruising around in the airport, making friends with extremely limited communication.

Good times, I love GTA because I'm... I'd like to say 4/5, am able to dominate the other player in 1on1 combat..

How do I find video content of the GoonSwarm? Is there videos on YouTube of them Griefing / GameSpiking/ Trolling other players in EVE Online or World of WarCraft?

I would most certainly LOVE to see this content.

Here, let me Google that for you.

Awww, how sweet of you.

Take your troll thread back to IV and stay there.

It doesn't take a genius to ruin stuff. It takes an asshole.

You're someone who would get molested, raped and passed around by all the REAL GTA IV Players.

Shut your face you ignorant poo. Legendary players? Oh noes, XxCOD4LYFxX is in my game! I'll get griefed!
Players you recognize from GTA IV is one thing, saying they're well-known and feared/loved by many is another. We have those as well. Hell, this forum has those as well. You haven't played enough missions with random people to ever meet a guy to run you over while you're on a motorcycle, have you? Or maybe let you in his car only to drive in somewhere where there's a ton of enemy AI's, kick you out of his vehicle and watch you die. You know why GTA IV griefers were popular? As you said, you had to be creative and news about new glitches and trolling methods went around fast. GTA V has those, you're just not staying up to date. You think GTA IV trolling was the best? R* apparently removed the firetruck hose as it would kill players in passive mode. Turns out it was a bug (sure....) and they're going to add it soon/they have added it (have not been on GTA V for a few days). How much of a troll can one be for R* to see something used to kill innocent players and remove said tool? Pretty rad, if you ask me.

While GTA IV is my favorite game of all time and I had tons of good laughs at griefing people and got griefed, it was the modders that made you into the guy from Fantastic Four that bursts into flames that ruined the online for it. I won't talk about them but if you want to type a book about it, just tell me where your next topic is. Seriously, are you telling us you miss the griefers? I see your point of view and I also love a good laugh by seeing a dickhead in my lobby but the less, the better. Then again, you could always try and go into Bad Sport lobbies to see the type of player you're looking for. Maybe there's a legendary player in there and you can get double XP for killing him or something.

Also, you're from '09 but have like 30 posts. I guess you didn't post much in the GTA IV topics back in the day.
Just wondering why you're bitching about GTA V's community when you didn't add to the GTA IV's community. To be fair, you're probably talking about the online aspect and not this forum but...what the hell are you doing here, anyway?

Oh, I only have 30 posts from 09....Well sorry for actually having a life and not being able to get on much.....And yes, The GTA IV community was amazing, not the forums community, but the actual Xbox Live GTA IV community on the Xbox 360......Some of the best times of gaming were spent on that game.

Anyone with over 30 posts must have no life, then...

I agree, GTA IV MP was amazing and I've had my best gaming moments on it. I was a beast at racing with the Comet, how people would steal buses and try to block the way, spawn on a scooter and you basically gave up on racing and try to kill anyone you could. Freeroam, Airport, Friendly Fire off, Rockets only = the best kind of game ever. GTA IV MP was amazing but it's no use to waste time on the past and think back how good it was. It only ruins your current memories for this GTA.

Interesting point....I guess I never thought about it like that.....I certainly am living in the past, remembering the glory days of GTA IV.....But can you blame me....And to be honest, I haven't felt the need to play GTA V lately or recently because I have still been playing GTA IV, but it's just not the same....Nowhere near the amount of traffic that it had back in 08 and 09 all the way until the beginning of 2011.

Maybe I should put it down and start playing GTA V.

But agree or disagree with my views, I certainly know how to start a hot topic of debate. Less than 24 hours this thread have been up and active and already has 126 replies.

I guess this was a GREAT conversation starter.....Something that was just ripe for a debate and a view of other peoples opinions!!

I haven't had Xbox LIVE Gold since 4/20 (easy to remember that date) and I've been playing Red Dead Redemption single player ever since (hence my member title). For a guy that's been playing GTA V for many months, all day, every day, it's a huge thing to ignore GTA V as I am right now. I know all trivia, backstory and info about GTA IV that I could probably write a book about it. I finished the story 4 times and had the pigeons left on Bohan to get for 100% before I lost my save (long story short my hard drive caught fire...I know, sounds weird) so I don't have any reason to live in the past. My Xbox LIVE profile and my forum profile says GTA IV is the best game ever made but it's pure opinion. That's probably why your topic is so popular, especially if you post it in the GTA V section where, I'd say, close to half of the members here haven't played GTA IV (MP or even the game itself!). There's a lot of them. Post this topic in the GTA IV section and it wouldn't be as popular as there's many threads praising GTA IV. You're not alone to think GTA IV is amazing but GTA V had such a rough start compared to GTA IV that it's interesting to see what will become of GTA:O. R* may have forgotten about the single player aspect of GTA V but if they drop DLC that is on the same level or higher than the DLC GTA IV got, it would erase all bad thoughts from GTA V.

To be fair, some hated the Lost & Damned DLC and I remember a few people got offended by protecting Gay Tony instead of shooting him (heavy stuff) and it's that stuff that sticks in my mind the most. GTA V hasn't had the chance to have that. So far the only "memorable" troll-ish thing we got is chrome adders and the tank. That, I'm sure, we'll remember well into GTA 6.

Anyway, hope you bring your GTA IV knowledge to GTA V. I see GTA IV players a bit higher than the GTA V player as we're used to this online stuff. Well, some of it.

GTA IV Players = True Skill competitive and innovative Players.

GTA V Players = No Skill Players who are not competitive and only want to take "Crew Selfies" while they are standing out in the wilderness or on top of a building and they have ZERO innovation....

There, that about sums it up....GTA V Players idea of fun is Standing in front of their pimped out ride while using the snap shot button to post photos on the Social Club....My my my...What have we as a community come to.

These are the same kids who would get trolled on in GTA IV. They would get stripped, robbed, killed and then laughed at in GTA IV.

Hah. Hahaha. Hahahahaha.

GTA IV true skill? Innovative players?

Someone needs to slap the nostalgia out of you, because this is just silly.

PS: The GTA V community has Scubadave, our lord and saviour. Legitimately better than all your weaksauce not-actually-innovative trolls from IV.

Z96npiW.png1Jhb37G.png

tbh IV was good at the time, but really needs to be grouped in with the 2d games now because of the lack of extensibility. CNC had 5 spawn points?

V innovation: glitching cargo containers on the front door of eclipse towers for two tanks to hold a meet-and-greet.

It's possible people from IV didn't purchase V. It's even more possible some that did purchase IV, purchased V, and never went online, or stuck with it. If GTA IV was so GREAT, people would still play it today. Last time I played Socom Confrontation like a little over a year ago, it was still easy to find players that spoke english that were enthusiastic about the game. MORE people on there last spring that IV had online around December!!! I actually went back to play cops, and crooks.... Guess what? It's not easy to find players there. Or for a GTA race either. I miss IV's bike physics.

The rockstar social site, helps meeting cool players easier, in that sense it strengthens the community. I can find people that actually wanna race CLEAN! I can find people to DM that aren't gunna be sore losers! Quite a few times online I'm a turd, but most of the time I'm around to help, and progress. Just to clue you in on the type of guy you are, you are blinded by your ignorance. If V was so bad compared to the FIRST GTA, or the last I WOULD NOT BE ON THIS SITE!!!!

I haven't stuck with an un entertaining game, or poorly designed game for more than an hour or two since Bubsy 3d!

This right here proves that people are still up for the task of creating some heinous scenarios. You wanna think IV was a much better world to TROLL in? Maybe you're right. Maybe that game was so NEW and diff at the time, it seemed greater than it was. And you're OBVIOUSLY not open minded enough to attempt something different. Even if only SLIGHTLY. LOL. This pic above I've never seen anything like it yet online, so I can't believe this can be done. But all the stuff you, TC mentioned in your first post. I saw that stuff. It was probably played out by the time I saw it too. It wasn't an everyday thing until '11 where you couldn't enter a game without someone doing some variation of.

You're one of those dudes who would try to change the rules of football, without taking into account fairness and safety, for more cheap thrills. Instead of finding a past time or sport that gives you those thrills. Really dude you're the uncreative one, and it's going to be a while before you realize you're wrong, and you could have posted this in the IV forums, and not many would have cared. Most of us on this board are "White Knights" about V, and have never played any other games, and we're ALL buying shark cards too, and adding each other to play golf and tennis... :orly:

Only in your own mind idiot...

All your cases are possible but I'm sure it's a very, tiny, microscopic amount of people that didn't buy GTA V that know the series and an even smaller amount of those that don't and haven't played online. R* gave us a full two weeks to play GTA V SP and it took those two full weeks for me to get 100% (a decision I'm unsure of as I forgot most of the story due to that but I never went back to play SP, while GTA IV I went back loads of times). I went back to GTA IV non-DLC and I went between two lobbies, changed a few options (auto-aim, cops, friendly fire) and was mostly in an empty lobby. Many people still play GTA IV but it's hard to find them.

I'm a bit confused why you're telling me I'm blinded by my ignorance when I've simply said GTA IV and GTA V are amazing games. :dontgetit:

*edit*

Probably the line of good DLC would erase all bad thoughts I have about GTA V made you say that.

To be fair, compared to GTA IV's DLC, GTA V's DLC is a bit sh*t. The game itself is amazing. I don't classify it as a masterpiece such as GTA IV and RDR. But that's opinion...

^ That's gtaforums for you

Anyways, it's because you have a larger 12 and under group playing gta now. Before back in the IV day's you wouldn't have that much 12 year olds playing it as they'll be busy playing pokemon or w.e. But now that parents could careless about what they're buying there kids, your just going to see a growing number of those kids. I can imagine when GTA VI drops, 90% of the online users are going to be 7 or under.

^That's happened since SA... Hell, most teens today remember SA as their 1st GTA. (pfft)

I'd blame the widespread of online gaming as the culprit for more <14 year olds.

Well who else is going to play online games ? Obviously not the older people as they got lives, so it all comes down to the kids that doesn't have anything better to do in life.

I was saying the TC and anyone who doesn't see that these games both had backlash at launch, is plain ignorant. Same with people that assumed MOST on HERE this board specifically didn't play IV or IV online. You actually believe we think V is SOO sick we had to join a board? I had to join this board because there is soo much going on (more than IV did at this early in it's cycle!) and events to take part in, I finally joined the site to keep up, and mingle with like minded players. I used to come here back during IV.... But I figured out most of that game without the help of this board. I say to those that don't like baseball, don't post in baseball forums.

Then again common sense is lacking. And not to bring race into it (even though I admit I am!) I have never met a troll online that sounded black. Funny true story about that.

Well who else is going to play online games ? Obviously not the older people as they got lives, so it all comes down to the kids that doesn't have anything better to do in life.

I wouldn't say that is lucky. The fortunate ones have been around since day one. And those are the ones that are impressed each game. The guys that started around III, don't have a full perspective on GTA. Same with those that didn't watch heat, and such before playing IV. It is completely possible to love GTA without ever seeing the top view games.

You're not gunna understand this comparison, but it's like punk rock. Those who know it's roots, and where it's cornerstone lie, hold it close to the vest, and understand, like everything it's not meant for everyone. I can enjoy most roots style punk rock, where as those that got into Blink, and Sum 41, can't deal with Black Flag, or Suicidal tendencies. SAME THING. I wasn't around for Crass, and Ramones, but as soon as I got into the Warped tour scene (I was at the FIRST one) I went back and did my homework.

Most kids nowadays don't do that. The information is there, but some are too cool to reference and check it out. Which is fine because I get to come across as a know it all. Suits me.

GTA IV's community was going strong up until the middle of 2012, it still have an active community, but obviously, with the release of GTA IV, it's not as large as it once was.

Fast forward to 2013, October 1st......Since GTA V has came online, there has not been a significant community as there was on GTA IV.....

Meaning, back in 2008 and 2009 on GTA IV, there were crews going for Leaderboards, crews going for the best time in Hangmans Noose....Anybody that played GTA IV on the Xbox back in 2008 through 2010 knows what it was like.....

We had legendary players that came from GTA IV....Where, as soon as you saw certain people in a Hangmans Noose lobby, you knew you weren't going to get the money. (Yes, I do kind of miss the GameSpikers that I once complained about, back in 2008 and 2009 up until GTA V's release, I despised these players.)

Game Spikers, Griefers, or Team Killers..Or just plain assholes...We had them all in GTA IV....GTA V, not so much. Bring back the Trolls from GTA IV!!!

Where are all the gamespikers and TeamKillers in GTA V? Where are all the players trying to ruin Rooftop Rumble and Violent Duct? In GTA IV, gamespiking was sort of like it's own cult.....

Instead of saving petrovic and flying to the safe zone, these guys would kill petrovic or trick some other player into thinking that there actually is a "Money Glitch"......These are the fun moments on GTA IV which I certainly miss, and wish to recreate in GTA V.

You see, GTA IV was pretty basic, regarding it's multiplayer....So players had to actually "create" their own fun and their own experiences.....I find GTA V to be quite boring, when comparing the players of GTA V to some of the more innovative players of GTA IV.

What happened to the Xbox player who used to sit in GTA IV NOOSE lobbies all day long and wait until everybody leaves, or what about sitting on the south side building while everybody in the noose game is waiting at the baseball field, just waiting there, for hours, until they finally gave up and left. The original founder of Game Spiking, what happened to him? And his crew for that matter.

What about the original Team Killing crews on GTA IV, the founder of the modern-day team killer.....What happened to him, does he not wish to be as creative as he was in GTA IV in GTA V? Or maybe, since rockstar took team killing out of the equation, these inventive and creative players can no longer be as innovative as they were in GTA IV, and hence, they got bored very easy.

As unusual as the way these guys played (They played GTA IV the way nobody else played GTA IV at the time. They played the game the way the game WAS NOT meant to be played.....ie, shooting petrovic, making people jump out far into the ocean and swim back, killing their team). These guys were so creative, it was ingenious. It really was a form of genius the way these guys played.

This is the main reason why I think GTA V is an EPIC fail....Rockstar took out all the creativity and imagination it takes to have fun in an open-world setting....in GTA IV, we had only each other and ourselves for entertainment...it was up to us.

In GTA V...Rockstar TRIES, I emphasize that word tries because they fail at it...They try to give us everything we want at our fingertips and in turn, the GTA V community isn't really a community at all.

How many times have you actually jumped into a GTA V lobby and actually recognized any of the random noobs that are in there with you....I'll tell ya how many....NONE, Zero!

Whereas in GTA IV, I was guaranteed to see some Legendary and distinguished players....Almost every other lobby I would get in would be someone well-known of popular in the GTA IV community, and you either knew to STAY AWAY from them, or you knew that they were just ranking up on the leaderboards...

But either way, their names "rang out" in the GTA community because these players were very popular, so of course, when you see their gamertag on the screen, their names ring a bell, you remember them. And you remember who they are and what they did in the match before.

GTA V is severely lacking in this aspect, as in, there are no esteemed or infamous players. No celebrated players on GTA V, no world-renowned players, like there were on GTA IV.....Just random noods, who you probably don't give a sh*t about and is not doing anything special or productive with his time on GTA V.

To sum it up, GTA IV players were a lot more productive and resourceful, and definitely more creative than their GTA V counterpart players.

Anybody want to weigh in on the discussion and give some feedback.....Most notably, if you played GTA IV back in 2008-2012 and actually remember playing with some High Profile players, the ones EVERYBODY KNEW....I am especially interested in hearing from you guys who knew some of the famous players of GTA IV.

These gamespikers, team killers and rebels made significant contributions to the GTA community on the Xbox, and even though, it was frustrating playing with them sometimes...It was still a lot funner than playing GTA V

RIP, FAMED GTA IV PLAYERS!!!

No community? HEELLLOOOOO!!?? Arent you on the BEST forum for GTA PLAYERS?? we have an amazing community here! Look in the find a group and meetups! WE ARE MAKING OUR OWN FUN!! in much more creative ways then what Your talking about...

Yeah, THANK GOD theres no "gamespikers" to ruin the game for people.. as funny as it may be... this is the 21st century... we have fcken tanks and buzzard helicopters!! WE HAVE SURPRISE ATTACKS ON THE MEEK OF THE LOBBIES!!

Sounds like your having a GTA Mid Life Crisis.

If yoy miss it so much. then GTFO of GTAO and go back to your precious Russian hero.

DID YOU SERIOUSLY WRITE THAT MUCH JUST FOR YOYR STUPID OPINION!!??

See? We have a community of ALL TYPES up in here.

What I meant was that I was lucky that I'm not one of those people who's first GTA San Andreas and not sure what's up with the sarcastic remark about GTA London.

GTA San Andreas is as good a point as any to have started the franchise at.

Nothing is up. Just stating you were lucky to have started with III, because GTA London is pretty much the worst game in the franchise :^:

Nah... London was good at it's time. I mean I LOVED the original more, but I loved the humor in that game at the time. I was pretty young too! "You're nicked!"... I wish that would come back. And the Shaguar? Blowing up big ben? GTA has always been relevant to my interests, and I loved each title. Sorry some of ya'll don't feel the same. Maybe there is another series more aligned with your intellect.

the JBL was a throw back to GTA2's car modding. So it took a few steps back in some ways. The gang approval and what not was different. Futuristic setting... Yeah I'm positive now I'm one of the few that PLAYED these games through during their release.

In my humble opinion Liberty City Stories was... I like how it connected the universe, and the Bike ban wasn't in place, and LC survivor.... But everything else for me was too much. I had to MAKE myself finish the game. VC stories wasn't great either, but playing as one of my favorite musicians was something I never though would happen in a video game. I did love Funk in time from LC stories... but that is it. Maybe the Manchez too... LOL!

Who could possibly hate the Manchez? And yeah, the "Stories" of Liberty City and Vice City are probably good shouts for worst.
