Why doesn't GTA V have a fun community like GTA IV did back in 200

At the very beginning GTA 4 Multiplayer was fun. As soon as the modders came up and the kids convinced their parents to buy them the game it went really bad.

Anyone here got spawn exploded / Burned / Flung into the air by a godmode guy driving the usual invincible flying Sultan RS here?

Back in 200 everybody was just so nice. Oh the colosseum. How I miss the days of being torn apart by lions. We as a gta community were much friendlier in those days... :panic:

Times have changed dramatically since IV..

Times have changed even more dramatically since year 200.

Didn't realise R* was such a long-established enterprise. Imagine the vehicle choice back then though. Now we have Adders, Entities, choppers, muscle boats - back then gamers had to with a slave-powered galley and a horse and cart.

Took feken ages to get back to Ceaser Madrazo's temple back in the hills. And those sentries chasing you shooting arrows - apart from Mendoza who always gets mangled under the cartwheel.

That happened to you to? Blowing up the entire airport... messing up GTA races... He's probably the MAIN reason I got a decent rank in SKATE 3, and was on the road to EVO with SFxTekken. So I kinda thank that guy for ruining my fun in a game I would NEVER really be competitive at.

Before I ran into him, all I played was just vanilla IV online, the expansions were lacking online. Thanks to him I was also able to platinum some other games I had in my collection. Thanks to that guy I have a great career, and played video games less. Before he came around IV online was LIFE!

GTA IV's community was going strong up until the middle of 2012, it still have an active community, but obviously, with the release of GTA IV, it's not as large as it once was.

Fast forward to 2013, October 1st......Since GTA V has came online, there has not been a significant community as there was on GTA IV.....

Meaning, back in 2008 and 2009 on GTA IV, there were crews going for Leaderboards, crews going for the best time in Hangmans Noose....Anybody that played GTA IV on the Xbox back in 2008 through 2010 knows what it was like.....

We had legendary players that came from GTA IV....Where, as soon as you saw certain people in a Hangmans Noose lobby, you knew you weren't going to get the money. (Yes, I do kind of miss the GameSpikers that I once complained about, back in 2008 and 2009 up until GTA V's release, I despised these players.)

Game Spikers, Griefers, or Team Killers..Or just plain assholes...We had them all in GTA IV....GTA V, not so much. Bring back the Trolls from GTA IV!!!

Where are all the gamespikers and TeamKillers in GTA V? Where are all the players trying to ruin Rooftop Rumble and Violent Duct? In GTA IV, gamespiking was sort of like it's own cult.....

Instead of saving petrovic and flying to the safe zone, these guys would kill petrovic or trick some other player into thinking that there actually is a "Money Glitch"......These are the fun moments on GTA IV which I certainly miss, and wish to recreate in GTA V.

You see, GTA IV was pretty basic, regarding it's multiplayer....So players had to actually "create" their own fun and their own experiences.....I find GTA V to be quite boring, when comparing the players of GTA V to some of the more innovative players of GTA IV.

What happened to the Xbox player who used to sit in GTA IV NOOSE lobbies all day long and wait until everybody leaves, or what about sitting on the south side building while everybody in the noose game is waiting at the baseball field, just waiting there, for hours, until they finally gave up and left. The original founder of Game Spiking, what happened to him? And his crew for that matter.

What about the original Team Killing crews on GTA IV, the founder of the modern-day team killer.....What happened to him, does he not wish to be as creative as he was in GTA IV in GTA V? Or maybe, since rockstar took team killing out of the equation, these inventive and creative players can no longer be as innovative as they were in GTA IV, and hence, they got bored very easy.

As unusual as the way these guys played (They played GTA IV the way nobody else played GTA IV at the time. They played the game the way the game WAS NOT meant to be played.....ie, shooting petrovic, making people jump out far into the ocean and swim back, killing their team). These guys were so creative, it was ingenious. It really was a form of genius the way these guys played.

This is the main reason why I think GTA V is an EPIC fail....Rockstar took out all the creativity and imagination it takes to have fun in an open-world setting....in GTA IV, we had only each other and ourselves for entertainment...it was up to us.

In GTA V...Rockstar TRIES, I emphasize that word tries because they fail at it...They try to give us everything we want at our fingertips and in turn, the GTA V community isn't really a community at all.

How many times have you actually jumped into a GTA V lobby and actually recognized any of the random noobs that are in there with you....I'll tell ya how many....NONE, Zero!

Whereas in GTA IV, I was guaranteed to see some Legendary and distinguished players....Almost every other lobby I would get in would be someone well-known of popular in the GTA IV community, and you either knew to STAY AWAY from them, or you knew that they were just ranking up on the leaderboards...

But either way, their names "rang out" in the GTA community because these players were very popular, so of course, when you see their gamertag on the screen, their names ring a bell, you remember them. And you remember who they are and what they did in the match before.

GTA V is severely lacking in this aspect, as in, there are no esteemed or infamous players. No celebrated players on GTA V, no world-renowned players, like there were on GTA IV.....Just random noods, who you probably don't give a sh*t about and is not doing anything special or productive with his time on GTA V.

To sum it up, GTA IV players were a lot more productive and resourceful, and definitely more creative than their GTA V counterpart players.

ones EVERYBODY KNEW....I am especially interested in hearing from you guys who knew some of the famous players of GTA IV.

These gamespikers, team killers and rebels made significant contributions to the GTA community on the Xbox, and even though, it was frustrating playing with them sometimes...It was still a lot funner than playing GTA V

RIP, FAMED GTA IV PLAYERS!!!

I think the main problem is money as it makes people more focused on getting a sh*t tonne of online cash rather than playing the game OP, it makes the game more like single player. Its sad because everytime you go online, you see most of the people doing their own thing in their apartments or clothes shops, LS customs etc.

I used to love the missions in IV. I remember getting the helicopter to transport everyone over (on the petrovic mission) and just as theyre approaching the heli to get in, I'd tip my rotor blades to send them flying ahahaha. Either that or I'd let someone get us a truck or car to transport everyone to the base. During it I'd hold a grenade in the car and wait fort he car to blow up. So much fun.

I just loved how involved the game was. And the fact that the airport was always bustling. You'd have so many players in such a small area. I'd love how you'd get mini enemies in the game for a duration of your time in there that you'd end up in little missions to kill over and over. I miss the helicopter battles and trying to get one over on your opponent. Hell I even think the team deathmatches on the game may of been better. It was such an awesome game f*ck. Money has ruined V and its completely different in its own way. V is great, but IV was something special if you enjoyed creativity.

This is brilliant......Absolutely brilliant.....I knew there were some more people who felt the same way I do.....If you read most of the comments, you will see a lot of people degrading me for opinion......But I knew there were still some sensible people on the GTA Forums......

But at the same time, a lot of game spiking, griefing, trolling, team killing, whatever you wanna call it....A lot of it happened in missions meant to rank you up, for instance Hangmans Noose or Bomb Da Base....So you would think that with SOOO many missions to boost your RP and give you a lot of money, that there would be players out there with their mouths watering, just waiting to ruin the game for someone else....Where is that innovation?

Cliff notes version:

1) OP says GTA4 trolls are geniuses

2) OP says if you don't agree or dislike trolls you can't "hang" because you're a pansy/wuss/etc

3) OP is wrong on every level

Not everybody wants to be trolled all the time, regardless of what you think is the "right" way to play a game that offers choices other than your supposed "right" way to play.

How is he wrong? I think you're missing the point. People actually mingled on IV is what he is saying. I don't know what kind of sad, takes him self seriously dope can't laugh at a bit of trolling. It shows that people would interact and would try to get on eachothers nerves. What happens if you do get trolled? Well even if you don't laugh and think "What a pr!ck, ill get him back" (Like a regular person) you will still feel a sense of revenge, and that is fun to get.

IV offered a unique experience - as OP said, and I think very few but enough of us realise how special that game was. It hit the balance between putting the game in the players hands and not making all the fun obvious, and not doing too little. It made the players the dictators of fun, not showing them "how" to have fun with ranges of cars to buy and customize. Man if i think of the games I made up in IV. I'd act like a suicide bomber by coaxing someone into my car as friends and driving off and detonating. I'd get someone into my heli and fly off to somewhere to trap them as a hostage. I'd get a crew and go to one of the many interiors. The game was legendary and sadly, I don't think we will see its like again. No game online would risk doing that little again as all the mainstream noobs will be unhappy with it, which was what made it awesome.

I'm happy that you actually read the article and actually comprehended what it was I was trying to put forth in this article....Instead of just hateful bashing and name calling.....But you are entirely correct.....There aren't enough people who really appreciated IV, me personally, I'm sure you know, that judging by the tone of the article, that I absolutely love IV and still play it to this day.

I can't sit and play GTA V Online for hours on end, not like GTA IV where I was on for hours and hours a day for months and months at a time. GTA V is just wayy too boring for me to be playing it and spending even a small fraction of the time I spent with GTA IV when it came out.

.....Not sure if you were an Xbox player or PS3 Player, but do you remember just HOW MANY people lost their wives and their kids and their jobs because they were on GTA IV Online literally 18 hours a day, sometimes even 20 hours a day.....

Do you remember those good old days, back in 2008 all the way until the end of 2010.....It was just incredible how many people would LIVE on GTA IV, and I admit, I was ONE of those people...Didn't have a job at the time anyways.

But you're right, I don't think we are ever going to get a game with that much freedom and that much fun again.......GTA V just seems like a watered down version of what GTA IV is.....It's so fake and materialistic, no real competition, no real game spikers.....Just a bunch of random noobs, who you will likely, never see in the GTA V lobby again. Nobody worth remembering, let alone mentioning.

As a die hard GTA fan l agree with OP.

Well, I'm glad you agree......GTA IV was THE BEST ONLINE EXPERIENCE EVER IN GAMING, HANDS DOWN!!! BAR NONE.

The answer to this thread is simple, gta V is a child game. Because of that, you'll never get the same level of competitive gameplay or creativity, at least not with new players.

You are so right....Simple answer couldn't be more right.....This game is like Barney's Playground with weapons.....The entire game was for kids in Middle School and Grade school.....It really is sad and pathetic that GTA has come to this....I had such hopes for GTA V.....But, luckily, I still have GTA IV to play, which is much more satisfying.....As I said earlier, I can't play GTA V for hours on end like I played GTA IV. It's just not possible.....Too damn boring.

GTA IV Players = True Skill competitive and innovative Players.

GTA V Players = No Skill Players who are not competitive and only want to take "Crew Selfies" while they are standing out in the wilderness or on top of a building and they have ZERO innovation....

There, that about sums it up....GTA V Players idea of fun is Standing in front of their pimped out ride while using the snap shot button to post photos on the Social Club....My my my...What have we as a community come to.

From my experience the GTAIV community was terrible. Just a bunch of people that roamed the city for 10 mins and then when 1 person was at the airport everyone flocked over to the airport.

Without reading many replies, I would like too say that players have been doing this stuff way before GTA IV. Any online racing game before it had players that would go the wrong way too mess up your lap times. Since I play on ps3 the only decent racing game I had was GTA IV. Anybody who would lose would almost always try too mess up lap times. Even if it was just two people there. That was in no way fun at all. The collisions were lame. At least now my lowered car might make you glide right over me.

As for team killing. I invested my 90 hours every two weeks into Counterstrike Source. Obviously you did not. Most games would like too be competitive, disabling those kind of features for annoying players. GTA is learning.

Have fun with IV.

These are the same kids who would get trolled on in GTA IV. They would get stripped, robbed, killed and then laughed at in GTA IV.

Hah. Hahaha. Hahahahaha.

GTA IV true skill? Innovative players?

Someone needs to slap the nostalgia out of you, because this is just silly.

PS: The GTA V community has Scubadave, our lord and saviour. Legitimately better than all your weaksauce not-actually-innovative trolls from IV.

I have to ask......Who the hell is Scuba Dave? I never heard of such a person ever....Maybe it's because I never get on GTA V.....But regardless, you go on and tell Scuba Dave to come onto IV so he can be laughed at and made fun of for being a noob.....I'll eat him for breakfast myself, he'll be doing the hand jive when I get done with him.

Be warned, he is such a troll that he makes the worst trolls cry to their mama.
