RJX74
The phone calls make the story add up better, on my first few playthroughs Same here. For me its all the phonecalls to Devin Weston, really expand the rift between him and the trio. CarlitoDorito
After did somebody say yoga you can call Tracey twice, you can call Jimmy as Franklin and Trevor too. After minor turbulence I had 5 calls to Tracey and 3 to Jimmy with Michael. Trevor can call Jimmy too, he says Michael has abandoned the family and is living with him now. Trevor can also call wade. gtaguy95
The chronological mission order thread reminded me of this thread. Somebody really should post an updated list here, or the op/moderator should edit the first post. Just sayin'
cp1dell
Yeah, I've been hanging out with characters and calling them after every mission - usually just the ones that were involved in the mission - but from looking at the OP that isn't the case for all of them. Considering restarting my playthrough. gtaguy95
Hugo_Agante
Yeah but it sucks that the calls sometimes work and sometimes don't, or only work later. This should be fixed by R* and calls should have a specific time we could hear them so that we don't miss them (e.g. right after mission results for 100%), although sometimes our characters call automatically someone. I know you can also call Martin Madrazo (as Michael) after receiving a text message from him after Daddy's Little Girl or something. By the way, is the list updated to it's fully calls or not? Even if it is, it seems to be it's pretty pointless to be always trying to make these calls and making new playthroughs if the calls aren't available. Better not do any calls at all
cp1dell
Yeah, it does suck that they just don't work sometimes. It's odd too, because it seems completely random. I haven't had any luck with calling Simeon after Complications, or Madrazo after Friend Request or Casing the Jewel Store, in any of my playthroughs - so I don't know what's up with that. Same goes for calling Lamar after Repossession.

Better just imagine our character calls whoever we would call when we are not playing with him. I think I'll not call anyone at all in my next playthrough. I also hope R* releases the SP DLC soon (possibly fixing this call issue) as more missions and possibly more Heists for SP would be welcome lol
cp1dell
I figured out why some people can call Lamar after "Franklin and Lamar" but not after "Repossession" and vice-versa. They are the same conversation. You can either call him after F&L or after Repossession, and Franklin will ask when they're going to move on to better things, and that they're just errand boys. Depending on which mission you call after and have this conversation, you won't have it for the other one. EDIT: Since this is the closest appropriate thread, I'm going to give a little detail on the conversations the characters have throughout the game when hanging out with each other after missions. I don't know which ones are actually unique to the post-missions. So I'm just going to list whatever I hear. Any unlisted missions or hangout couples means the character was unavailable because of the story or other reasons. Repossession Franklin/Lamar - Franklin mentions they need to start pushing the Forum Drive Gang. Lamar mentions he has a cool sign for it, to which Franklin argues that they made the Forum Drive Gang to get away from all that stereotypical gang stuff like throwing up gang signs, wearing certain colors, attack anybody just because of their colors etc. Complications Franklin/Lamar - Lamar talks about how he is disappointed what people are doing to "his country." The two argue about his "Apache heritage," and how Lamar is excusing his psychotic tendencies and violence as "protests" against the people trying to put "his native people down." Father/Son Michael/Franklin - Michael and Franklin mention that it's nice to hang out socially. Michael goes on to say he appreciates them hanging out since he's been kind of lonely and doesn't have many friends since he moved to LS, but still likes the city. Franklin will say he doesn't "get" Michael, but Michael says he will understand when he gets to his age, and has made mistakes, and will grow to anticipate mistakes he will make in his life; saying his life is just full of mistakes. He will mention he was with some maniacs, met Amanda, had two kids, and had to get out of it. When asked what he did, Michael simply states he did exactly that - "just got out of it," and came to LS. Michael/Amanda - Amanda will say it's good they're spending time together, but Michael needs to cut back on his drinking. Michael claims he doesn't drink that much, to which Amanda retorts with: "Only on the days ending with y." She'll say she wants the slim guy she met years ago, not the fat drunk she's married to now. Michael will argue that he doesn't want "that Michael" to watch her bang the pool-boy, and that he only drinks to dull the pain. Michael/Jimmy - Jimmy will ask Michael if he's back to "being a hoodlum" again. Michael denies he's doing anything, but Jimmy says everyone knows that he's up to no good now since he's always gone at night, hanging out with "the gangster," and he's got "that look" in his eye. Michael says he's not doing anything, but feels like he's just escaping from some "bubble" - to which Jimmy angrily claims that the "bubble" is his family. Franklin/Lamar - Lamar says he worries about Franklin sometimes, and that if there's anything he needs to know about, it's loyalty. Lamar clarifies that he doesn't mean "Tanisha" type loyalty, he means remembering where you come from, and who your friends are, and mentions Tanisha isn't loyal since she can't accept Franklin for who he is - a thief. Maybe in the chronological order of the missions, we should also add when exactly we should call a character to hear unique conversation or to hangout to hear unique conversation as well! And those hangout conversations are pretty cool in the story, I've heard the Michael/Franklin and the Michael/Amanda after "Father/Son".
cp1dell
I'll definitely keep at it. It's just going to take a while. I'll compile them into one post at some point. I kind of look forward to certain parts of the game where you can't hang out with certain people. It's just so tedious sometimes, haha. Chop Franklin/Jimmy 1. Jimmy says it's nice they are properly hanging out, and despite Franklin stealing his car, he feels a "real connection." The comment on stealing the car angers Franklin, to which he denies doing so. He goes on to explain that they're just hanging out, not trying to "adopt each other." This upsets Jimmy, to which he compares Franklin and Michael saying it's no wonder why they are friends, since they are both angry assholes, before Franklin calms him down. 2. There was a second one, where Jimmy asks if this counts towards his gang initiation, but Franklin laughs and says it doesn't work like that. Though I'm pretty sure this isn't mission specific, since I've heard this post-story. Michael/Jimmy - Michael asks how the job hunt is going, and Jimmy accuses him of taunting him. Jimmy says Michael is constantly bothering him with: "Get a job, get a girlfriend, stop smoking weed, stop playing video games etc." and being mean to him makes Michael an enabler, and continues to blame Michael for his problems. Michael again asks how the job hunt is going, to which Jimmy asks why he even had kids. Michael says he doesn't know, and that there are better things to spend money on. Franklin/Lamar - Franklin asks if there has been any fallout, Lamar doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Franklin reminds him of the events of "Chop" and Lamar says there's no trouble, that they let D go, they didn't hurt him, etc. and there is no reason for anything bad to happen - then again, Lamar states he hasn't been home in a while. Franklin says he can't keep getting into gangbanging sh*t like this, and Lamar mocks him, asking him if it's because of his new position, or because they're supposed to be "legitimate repo dudes." (I actually think this help place Pulling Favors and Chop before Complications, chronologically, considering Lamar references them still being repo guys. But it's easy to brush this off as hangouts are entirely optional, and break the pacing of the story - so it's easier to just consider the dialogue in "Pulling Favors" as a clue that it takes place after Father/Son.) As mentioned in my previous post, if the character isn't available to hang out than it won't be included. Michael/Franklin is unavailable since they both mention they have work to do, since Franklin is supposed to be on his way back to Michael's house after "Pulling Favors" and "Chop." Obviously Amanda is unavailable to hang out with Michael since she is busy sleeping with the tennis coach. Other times the characters just never answer your phone no matter what, making it impossible to hang out unless you do another mission. Marriage Counseling Michael/Franklin 1. Michael explains to Franklin that he has to be careful. This confuses Franklin since he was under the assumption that "being careful" is what Michael was teaching him. Michael clarifies that he is, but that he still has to be careful, that things can get out of control really fast - that it has happened before. He goes on to explain that his life before was crazy, and things kept getting crazier - and now it's happening again. Michael becomes upset with himself saying he's "screwing everything up again." Michael says that before he had to start all over, get a fresh start once things got too crazy. Franklin says that's good and that he should try to find a middle ground between crazy, and normal. 2. Second conversation on the way to dropping Franklin off; I've heard this in other play-throughs after other missions, so this isn't post-mission exclusive - just story exclusive. Michael says if there is anything he can teach Franklin, it's learning to not regret mistakes. That not just in this lifestyle, but in any life, you're going to make mistakes and you have to learn not to regret them and dwell on them. You have to learn to move on. Franklin asks Michael if he's moved on. Michael laughs and says he doesn't know. Michael/Amanda - Amanda asks Michael to at least try to act normal for the next hour or so. Michael is confused and upset, Amanda says he can just get out of control. Michael grows increasingly angry and says he's trying his best, and that he's in therapy. Amanda tells him that he is in therapy, but he isn't "in" therapy. "What is this? f*cking riddles? Do I get a blowjob if I answer it right?" Amanda says he can have as many BJs as he wants, from his "working girls" because she doesn't want to catch any throat STDs. Amanda explains that he may be in therapy, but it means nothing if he isn't honest with his therapist. Franklin/Jimmy - Jimmy asks Franklin if he's angry. Franklin is confused and asks what he's supposed to be angry about. Jimmy explains that he's just talking in general, if he's angry at life, with the cards he's been dealt. Franklin agrees that it has been sh*t, but there's also good things. He tells Jimmy his parents were idiots, and that they threw everything away, but his grandma was a good person and always looked out for Franklin, and even gave him the house he has now. Jimmy mentions the things Franklin does, and if he does them because he's angry. Franklin says he might boost cars, steal, and all that stuff because he is angry, or maybe he's just lazy, or it's because it's the only thing he's good at. Jimmy says he's angry, and wishes he was black so it would make sense he was angry - because black people "are always angry." Franklin says you don't have to be black to be angry. Jimmy says he wishes he was at least good at something. Franklin/Lamar - Franklin asks how Chop is doing, Lamar tells him he's doing good - he just bit the sh*t out of the mailman the other day. Lamar says he (Chop) can handle himself, and that people need to worry about getting in trouble with Chop, instead of Chop worrying about getting in trouble with other people - that Chop's a gangsta. Franklin says maybe Chop shouldn't be in situations like that, that instead he should be playing fetch, or chewing on a ball, or getting his stomach rubbed - not getting into crazy situations around the hood. He says pets shouldn't be put into situations like that. "Poor motherf*cker." Friend Request Michael/Amanda - Michael sarcastically asks Amanda if she has taken up any new hobbies, she has. "Inventory." She explains that it's very health, and Michael responds with very heavy sarcasm about how "f*cking wonderful" it is, and she should sign him up right away. Amanda notes how incredibly negative he is, and doesn't understand why she married him, which Michael claims is because she was pregnant and he was naive. Michael/Franklin - Franklin tells Michael it's good to hang out, to which Michael asks him if it really is. Michael talks about how he is glad he's getting to spend time with someone else, since for years he's been dealing with his family's craziness, and spending so much time inside his head. He's upset that he's made such a mess of things, that he's always screwing something up. Michael describes his whole life as "Chase 'em, get 'em, hate 'em," and that growing old just sucks. Franklin tells him that he really does need help. Franklin/Jimmy - Jimmy asks Franklin what his dad was like. Franklin says he never knew him, but from what he heard, he was a pretty cool guy - which Franklin admits it a lie that he just tells everyone. His father was an "asshole who would beat his wife, and then ran off when she was pregnant." Jimmy says he can relate to Franklin, but Franklin says the worst thing Michael ever did to him was not buy him a car. They both agree that Michael is not a good role model though. (Most of these aren't mission specific it seems, but from what I can tell they are only available during the story. You won't hear these after finishing the game, so they're still pretty interesting.) Daddy's Little Girl Michael/Franklin - Michael says it's nice he's getting to hang out with someone, since he doesn't have many friends left. Franklin jokes that saying since he's a stick-up artist they must all be dead or in jail, which Michael says is actually the reason. Michael says he just sort of lost touch with them, and he mostly just sits around watching movies, forgets to call, and friends just sort of fade away over time. Michael/Amanda - Amanda asks if Michael is having fun. "Bitter, sarcastic, mean" - Michael's response has it all. He says he is having a lot of fun, and that being with her is a constant reminder that spur of the moment, lifelong decisions can have terrible consequences. Amanda notes how awful it is that they can't get along anymore, and wonders what happened. Michael says that their sex didn't stop, it "sort of migrated." Amanda says she knows exactly what the problem is. Again, Michael sarcastically asks if she knows because of "one of her past lives," or "the color of his aura," or if it is because "they're not eating enough seaweed." No, it's Michael, and Amanda feels sorry for him. Michael says not to. Michael/Jimmy 1. Jimmy says it's nice to see Michael, and Michael asks if he really means that or if he's just being sarcastic. Jimmy claims that Michael just hates him, and is ashamed of him because he isn't good at anything, and all he does is try to make him happy but Michael throws it in his face. Michael tells Jimmy to cut the bullsh*t, that he's just trying to guilt trip him, and he's going to start crying, and hugging, and then ask for money. 2. On the way to dropping Jimmy off, Michael asks how he's doing. Jimmy sarcastically replies that he is doing great, and that they should go grab a soda-pop. Michael asks if Jimmy is being sarcastic, as with Jimmy, he never knows. Franklin/Jimmy - This was actually interesting, Jimmy told Franklin to wait where he was - that he is on his way. I had to go to a spot and actually wait a couple seconds for him, and then he f*cking drives up in Tracey's car and says Franklin can drive. Anyways, Jimmy asks what Franklin was doing before he hooked up with Michael. Franklin tells him how he did repo jobs with his friend Lamar - his best friend - "kind of a f*cked up guy, but has been there since the beginning with Franklin." Jimmy apologizes if showing up at Michael's messed up his repo job, but Franklin admits it was alright since it wasn't going anywhere anyways, he was just making money for some other guy. Franklin mentions he used to gangbang with Lamar, but he isn't into that anymore. And after dropping him off, he drives away in his sister's car. Homicidal Hipster
I like what've you've been doing cp1dell. This actually reminds me of a topic I created awhile back called " hidden conversations in missions" http://gtaforums.com/topic/766253-hidden-conversations-in-missions/ where I list all the extra bits of dialogue that you can hear during missions if you do certain things, like drive to fast, wear certain clothing, drive past certain places etc. Edited May 6, 2015 by Thelema93 cp1dell
cp1dell
I remember that thread. And man, someone in it mentioned having the three person hangouts. That's going to be tedious when I get to that point in the story. Anyone know what all the hangout combinations are?
Homicidal Hipster
You can also hang out Trevor, Franklin and Lamar. There conversations are some of the funniest.
cp1dell
The Long Stretch Franklin/Jimmy - Jimmy asks Franklin what his childhood was like, then apologizes for "doing it again." Franklin asks what he was doing, and Jimmy stumbles over his words, yells at Franklin to stop laughing at him, and says he's over-sharing and trying to be too personal. Jimmy gets upset and sobs a bit, and says he isn't cry, and Franklin tries to calm him down and tells him it's alright and they're going to have a fun time. Franklin/Lamar - Franklin asks if he's seen any Ballas acting shady lately, "coming for your ass shady." Lamar tells him there isn't any OCB beef, but Franklin says there is considering he tried to kidnap D. Lamar argues that he's dead now and isn't a problem, Franklin says he still got all those people together to jump them and Stretch, but Lamar mentions they're all dead too now. Franklin says Lamar and Stretch should just be careful, "That is if Stretch is really with this sh*t." Franklin/Michael - Two two ask each other how they've been. Michael says he's doing okay, trying to complain less. Franklin says he's doing good, and says he was going to complain but realized he would be turning into Michael. Michael agrees that the last thing Franklin should do is turn into him, but Franklin says that Michael isn't that bad of a guy, that he never had a father, and older guys usually freaked him out. That he was raised by people on the streets, some good some bad, but none of them really knew anything. Michael says he never knew his father either, who skipped town, or got hit by a train, or joined the navy, or something. He doesn't really know since the stories always changed. His father not being around is why he wanted to have a normal family, but he's an angry asshole, and the two don't mix. Franklin says that on the brighter side at least his kids turned out okay, which Michael is unsure of. Michael/Amanda - Amanda asks what Michael has been up to, but quickly retracts he question saying she's better of not knowing. Michael agrees, and says he feels the same about her. Amanda sarcastically says how funny it is, but Michael mentions it isn't - it's tragic. Amanda says she is the one living the tragedy, and that Michael is the tragedy. She says that once the kids move out, that hopefully Michael's friend in the FIB will let them drop the marriage act, to which Michael hopes as well. Michael/Jimmy - Jimmy asks when Michael is going to retire again and stop being a criminal, and Michael tells him he will when Jimmy stops doing drugs. Jimmy claims he only does just to get attention from Michael, but Michael tells him it's not good attention. Jimmy says that before Michael used to ignore him, but at least now they actually spend time together. Michael says he only spends time yelling at Jimmy, he asks if getting a car from the "credit frauds" was for attention, or getting his boat stolen was for attention. Jimmy admits they were, but because it makes him feel like Michael actually cares. Michael tells him he does care, but if Jimmy keeps f*cking up like this, he's not going to want attention anymore. Casing the Jewel Store At this point I'm just going to hang out with the characters, listen to the conversation, and abandon them. Taking them and dropping them off just takes too long and it's boring as hell. Anyways: Michael/Amanda - Amanda says she has good news, that she's going to start doing good things to bring "karmic balance into the world," especially since Michael is such a dark and negative presence in the world. Michael as usual responds sarcastically, saying that it's wonderful that he can kill people, steal, blow things up etc., but at least his wife is providing "karmic balance" to the world for all his misdeeds. Michael/Franklin - Michael asks Franklin if he was good at sports. Being humble, Franklin says he was just "okay." Michael doesn't believe him, he thinks Franklin was "better than okay." Franklin admits he could have been, but it was between hustling on the streets or doing sports, hoping for money somewhere down the line - obviously Franklin chose the streets. Michael tells how he was good and trained back in the day. Front page of the newspaper, people stopping him on the street - "high school good." But he injured himself at one point, and along with his temper issues things never panned out for him. Michael/Jimmy - Jimmy says he wants another tattoo, one to go with "Entitled" on his neck. Michael can't believe he needs another tattoo, and asks if he wants to just have "asshole" put on his face to "seal the deal" - stating that is something he would pay for. Jimmy tells him he just knows nothing about "post-ironic body art," Michael tells him that in this case, ignorance is bliss. Franklin/Jimmy - Jimmy brings up that it's hard out there on the streets, and hard for him to keep up with "his grind." Franklin tells him he's never had a grind to work in his life, but Jimmy brings up his "weed business, e-sports tips, jokes, and game ideas," saying he would have a girlfriend too if he wasn't so busy. Franklin pokes fun at his excuse, and Jimmy asks him why he doesn't have a girlfriend. Franklin says he does, that they're just not together. Franklin/Lamar - I usually don't list the hangout here if the character is unavailable, but in this case they were able to hang out, but there was no conversation. Jewel Store Heist N/A Friends Reunited N/A Fame or Shame Michael/Amanda - Amanda comments on how nice it is for a husband and wife to be "spending quality time with each other." Michael agrees that it is a nice change of pace for her from "banging some stranger, then weeping about it." Amanda says she wanted the marriage to work, and Michael as usual, sarcastically tells her that "Nothing like boning the help to really give those old marriage vows that extra kick." The two bicker back and forth, and Amanda wonders how this happened to them. Michael says it's either because they are a pair of assholes, or a pair of idiots, but he can't remember which. Michael/Franklin - Franklin asks how Michael has been. At first he says he's been doing good, corrects himself saying he's doing fine, then admits he's really doing sh*tty. Michael says he's worried about his kids, that's he really messed up. He gives them everything, and they think they deserve everything now for free, he says they're morons. Franklin asks what that makes him and Michael, which Michael says they're hypocrites, but didn't have the opportunities they had. Franklin says where he grew up there were opportunities, not a lot, but some. That some kids got out of the hood, and some got dragged down. He says they all made a choice, and he chose to be an idiot, and the one person he was trying to impress - wasn't impressed. She valued education, and he got kicked out of school for beating up a teacher. Michael agrees they're both idiots for their paths in life. Michael/Jimmy - Jimmy says he has an idea. That his and Michael's problem, is that Michael keeps giving him money. Michael says he can stop doing that whenever he wants, and will even kick him out of the house if he thinks that will help. Jimmy explains that he should lend him money - and Michael offers him $20. Jimmy further explains he wants Michael to lend half a million dollars. Michael tells him he's insane, but Jimmy says he would be lended the money, learn some important economic lesson, and pay it back. Michael tells him to just get a job. Michael/Trevor - "So? Well...this is fun." - Trevor Michael tells him it's good seeing him, but Trevor asks if it really is. Michael confirms it is, and tells him he would say he thought he was dead - but realized it wouldn't be funny. Michael tells him how important he has always been to him, and - I don't know, sarcastically, or neutral-like? F*ck it, he tells him he can tell. Michael explains he had a family, and that he has to understand things got crazy, and heard Trevor had been killed. "Sure" - Trevor. Michael tells him it's true, and that if it wasn't - but he stops there and says they should just make up for lost time now. Franklin/Jimmy - "My F to the D.O.G." - Jimmy. Franklin tells Jimmy to cut it out - to stop with the "F-Dog sh*t, the 1992 rap video bullsh*t." Jimmy starts to choke up (for the third time) and asks what he means. Franklin tells him to stop with the crying sh*t as well. Jimmy gets defensive and asks if it's because Franklin thinks he's better than him, but Franklin tells him it's not, and to just take things easy and have fun. Jimmy mentions that he keeps saying that, and Franklin explains it's because he keeps crying - corrects himself - because he keeps "getting allergies." Jimmy insists it's because he thinks he's a joke, but Franklin tells him he is his friend, but he needs to calm down, because this [crying sh*t] is getting exhausting. Strangely, I was able to get Michael/Trevor/Franklin to hang out already. They act as if they already all know each other. I recognized the dialogue, as you can hear it at any point in the game.Just Franklin asking how they were when they were younger, and Michael mentioning how they always had to be on the move because Trevor was a psycho and would kill someone in broad daylight. Just a constant cycle of killing and skipping town. Trevor says Michael was always a pussy. Franklin sarcastically comments on how fun this is. EDIT: Damn, part of me wants to drop this. While I like the background this provides for the characters, I really want to get through the story and help order the missions in some other thread, and get on with 100-percenting on the PC. It doesn't help that this is incredibly boring and time consuming, haha. EDIT: I think I'll just hang out with characters after mission's they're involved in. cp1dell
So this isn't a phone call you can make, but you receive it. I just completed "Predator" and switched to Franklin, and got a call from an unrecognized number. Her tone of voice in the call is sort of mellow and worried. "Hello? Who this?" "It's Amanda. Amanda De Santa. We met at my house." "Oh yeah. Uhh, sh*t. Where you at?" "Look, I know that you and my husband, and Trevor Phillips... I don't know what the f*ck you're up to, but I can make a pretty good guess. There's some weird things going on. Is he okay?" "I don't think okay is the right word, but he's alive. You should call him. He'll appreciate that." "I don't want to speak to him. I just wanted to know he wasn't dead somewhere. Thanks. Don't tell him I called." "Alright. But look, he ain't doing too good without his family." Probably my fourth or fifth playthrough of this game, and it's the first time I've heard this. I've never bothered playing as Franklin during the Exile chapter, so I can see how I missed it. Makes me wonder what else I've missed. In my second playthrough I tried almost every possibility. Changed chars in all moments. In the last mission, option C, we have 2 that we can lose. Franklin to Lamar, trevor to Ron and I can't remember if Mike call someone, all these after we left the warehouse with F.

Thanks for documenting what you did there though. It's incredibly difficult to go through all of this because as you say it takes so long and isn't really all that interesting, but it is nice to hear the extra dialogue and delve a bit deeper into the story/characters. Like you, I've counted 6 different hang out conversations with Franklin and Lamar in the opening part of the game alone. It's really frustrating that the characters aren't always available for hangouts sometimes as well. I mean, it makes sense in terms of the story certain characters not being available but it seems to rush it on too quickly and makes going through all hangouts practically impossible, which I guess could've have been the point. Simeon calls franklin shortly after complications. Just wait a bit for the call and it should happen.

(sry if already known) if you keep following michael he'll enventually get pissed and knock franklin out. you can also arrange M and T to meet on the street after there falling out and they'll have some hostile dialouge. cp1dell
Having completed my version of the GTA V Mission List Order, I'm now replaying through again and taking my time to do every activity, side-mission, etc. as they become available throughout the story. That way, upon completing the final mission - I should obtain, or be as close as possible to 100% completion. As I'm doing this, I'm going to redo the hangouts after each mission. The only difference is I will only hangout with characters that had some sort of involvement (if any) with the previous mission. That way the hangouts won't be so tedious. I'm going to record each of these hangout conversations, and I'll upload them in one video - by "chapter" (five chapters/videos in total). I'm going to do the same with the optional phone calls listed in this topic - those will be separate videos. From my last playthrough though, I noticed that sometimes not every call works - so a few might be missing. As far as I know, this is totally random and I have no control over it. A majority of them will be recorded though, there's only a few I never got to hear.
esato
I'm thinking about re start the game tomorrow. So, canonically, should I do the first Lamar call soon after Franklin and Lamar or after the second mission? Some guys said that if we call him after Franklin and Lamar, we can't call him after the second mission (I can't remember the name now) and if we don't call him after F & L, we can call him after the second mission, because the dialogue is the same don't matter the moment that we call Lamar, after Franklin and Lamar or after the second mission. cp1dell
Haha, that was me. I just had that phone call a few hours ago, and from what I can remember I don't think it really matters which mission you make the call. Like I mentioned before, if you don't get it after one - you'll hear it after the other. The call doesn't rely on any context, so it works for either mission. As far as I know, that is the only optional phone call in the game that this happens to. Every other one will happen after a specific mission. It's just that one Lamar call that can happen after Franklin and Lamar, or Repossession. It works for whatever mission you do it after. Kind of like how there are hangout conversations that don't rely on context of the story. They're just miscellaneous conversations that you can hear at any point in the game. It's just that in this case, it is a phone call that is only available after one mission or another - and one takes place right after the other so it doesn't even make a difference. esato
Homicidal Hipster
I tried to save that call to lamar until after repossession but it didn't work. another thing I noticed is that sometimes you have to be in a certain place for the call to work. for example I tried to call stretch after long stretch in franklins house but it didn't work for about 5 times in a row. so I ran down the street a bit and tried it again and it worked on the first try. it may be a coincidence, but its happened on several of my playthroughs so I'm not sure. cp1dell
Yeah I noticed that after completing a mission, you need to wait a moment or get a certain distance away from the "completion point" before calling. Concerning the calls, I've had no problems recording them with the in-game capture. I start recording before making the call, and stop after. Previewing the clips in the editor afterwards, the dialogue is all there. No issues. It's going to be a while until I get the videos out though. Like I said I'm doing everything as they become available, even if they don't count towards 100% - just covering everything on the checklist page. As of right now I am finishing up the Monkey Mosiacs. I'll probably do the available Hobbies and Pastimes, and Miscellaneous stuff, before moving on to Father/Son. cp1dell
Just finished rendering the Chapter I phone calls. Took a little under an hour. Uploading to YouTube right now - I'll link it when it's finished (done initial processing, waiting for HD options to become available). During my playthrough I noticed a couple calls were missing, but there isn't really anything I could do about that unless I wanted to replay the mission over and over again until I could get that call. Sometimes they just don't happen, it's totally random. Last time, when playing the missions in the same order, I got a couple extra calls. Not this time. If anyone else is up to try it themselves and see if you can get more, be my guest. I also have Chapter I Hangout Conversations ready to be rendered - but I'll do that and upload it later. The way I'm doing the hangouts is that whatever characters were involved with the previous mission, will hang out with each other. So for "Father/Son," Michael will hang out with Jimmy, and Franklin. And Franklin will hang out with Jimmy. That's three hangout combinations. EDIT: I should also mention, there are points in the video where it will sort of "jump" or "hiccup." This happens in the phone call videos, and will most likely happen in the hangout conversation ones too. This is because while the clip is recording, it runs out of space or whatever and starts recording a new one immediately. When the editor stitches them together it's not perfect. But whatever. At least those who don't want to bother doing this, will get to hear a majority of the optional phone calls.
