For me V all day. Funny I've played MOST Rockstar games including table tennis. Obviously all the Max Paynes' too! I need to FINALLY play RDR though. I'm slacking. To my credit though I've played every GTA, and the demo of RDR, and gotta say RDR seems MASSIVELY overrated. But a change of scenery can do that. Look at Bully. Bully was good, but not GREAT.

I would say Max Payne 3. Second best R* game imo (the first being VCS.)

I've played every GTA, and the demo of RDR

The demo for RDR does not exist.

I like both Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV really the same.

John Marston is a man who's trying to make up for his mistakes in life, while Niko is trying to leave the past behind while bringing justice to all of his friends in the war.

I cant relate to T and F unfortunately, but Michael is Rockstar's 3rd best protag of this gen, its just ashame they didnt focus on him more.

To answer yout question, no pal.

For me, heck no! I actually find GTA V to be the worst R* game I've played for this gen, and it's my least favorite R* game I've played.... Period. But at the end of the day, I still think it's a good game despite the huge disappointment it was.

I've played MP3 (still need to finish), Midnight Club LA, GTA IV, LA Noire, RDR. All of them are great, so it's pretty hard to choose which is my favorite.

Although to me its hard to say that a game that has had 5 years of work is not the best in this gen, IMO, its actually not... Well, most of us know that the 5 years they took was to make San andreas look accurate to California in real life, and not about the storyline, and/or side activities and stuff like that. And they took their precious time on GTA Online too.

In my opinion, Max Payne 3, and RDR takes that title, as the game of this gen by R*.

And don't even get me started on GTA IV, that game was one of the greatest experiences I ever had in gaming.

Got to say I enjoyed Red Dead more, it had more replay value. GTA Online has taken that away because it's sh*t. Grand Theft Auto V singleplayer = Masterpiece. They just need to add more to SP, they should be making the story DLC their number one priority but they're not. Instead they're stretching out GTA Online and it's pointless updates.

The only game that came close to V is RDR.

The rest are OK games but nothing amazing.

V has the better gameplay while RDR has the better story.

I find it hard to choose between them but if I were to lose my copies of these games the first one I'd buy again would be V so...there you go.

I would choose V if the single player side was treated with a little more respect. As the game stands, it feels like a very much stripped down version of what the game should have been. It did have fantastic game play though, I will grant it that.

Max Payne 3 was very good (I finished it just yesterday), however the levels felt way too short and Rockstar clearly added so many cut scenes to hide the shortness of each level, GTA IV was great in many things, but I, for one, hated the mission design- go to point a, execute someone, travel back to starting point, repeat 100 times, no thanks, no variety there.

So my vote goes to Red Dead. It feels the more complete game of the last gen. I didn't find the shooting mechanics as fun as GTA but it was better in most other areas.

LA Noire was my favorite Rockstar game of the gen. GTA V is a close second. Followed by GTA IV and Manhunt 2.

For me, gameplay wise I found it the best. The story was half assed half way through the game during working for the FIB and stuff.

Probably tied with RDR in my opinion in first place.

RDR takes it for me, I don't know what it is, but the world just felt so much better crafted, had a real feeling and is the ONLY Rockstar Multiplayer Game I actually got to Rank 50 and reset because it was just interesting, sure you had dicks, but the weapons and tech of that era left them with little to exploit, plus the Marshall's seemed more intelligent to actually go after those who started the fight first instead of just going after everyone within the area. The online helped the game stick around much longer because overall, it was just better, you had no trolls just killing for no reason, no chrome adders, no tanks parked outside LS Customs waiting to blow up players cars for lulz, etc, it was just the players, thrown into the world and doing things how they wanted, you could ride around on the plains, pick flowers, go hunting, take over bars and fight against the Marshall's, rob stores, fight against gangs, join in with other people fighting against gangs, etc, the game rewarded you for being in posses, doing things together, encouraging people to take over Gang Hideouts with proper planning to blast through in the quickest time possible to get maximum XP and Cash.

A lot of people only focus on the SP with RDR which was amazing, but I'd just like to highlight the MP side of it to because Rockstar really hit it out of the park with that and it's such a shame GTAV doesn't even come close to it.

Demo of RDR ? What demo bro ? There was no demo for RDR that I knew of, and I followed all it's pre-release news. And even if you only played a 'demo' of RDR then you will never truly know for sure just how great that game was. You will never get a full experience of a game by just playing a demo. I don't know how you can say RDR is overrated by only playing a demo of it (that probably never existed anyway).

Something tells me you are talking bullsh*t.

There was no RDR demo. Plus not all demo's are like that. I played Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon the demo version which I downloaded from the PSN store and that was one of the best things I've ever played. So much nostalgia coming from that game for some reason. It was just fun, like the full game.

No.

GTA IV is the king.

But GTA V is holding 2nd place definitely.

For me it's GTA 4>GTA EFLC>GTA 5>MCLA>LA Noire>GTACW>Max Payne 3> Beaterator>Table Tennis>RDR2.

I know Far Cry 3 is not a Rockstar game, but I even enjoyed that game far more than I did V.

I would say that RDR is their masterpiece of this gen of consoles with GTA IV right behind that. Then Max Payne 3 and then GTA V

I think exactly the same as you.

1.RDR = GTA IV

2.Max Payne 3

3.GTA V

GTA V is without a shadow of doubt R*'s best GTA, it is 27,000 times the game IV was, but of course this forum is stuck full of nostalgia, went to play GTA IV the other day it is without doubt shockingly bad in comparison to V.

RDR is a close second to V but GTA V's fun missions swing the title its way..

It's very close between V and Max Payne 3 for me, but if I was pushed, V probably slightly just edges MP3, with RDR and IV tied in 3rd place.

GTA V is the most fun game I've played on the last gen consoles, and possibly of all time. There's just so much content- so much to see, do and uncover- which is exactly what an action/adventure game should be about. The vast variety of gameplay...the huge diversity of the protags and map...the hilarious/tense/gripping dialogue and cutscenes...the beautiful graphics...and on and on. The game truely is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned, and when considering the vast amount of content - both in visual and audio terms - with the protag switch implementation in an open world with these graphics, all to run as smoothly as it did on 8 year old hardware, is undeniably technical wizardry.

But the whiners and trolls will keep claiming it's a yoga simulator - nothing we can do about them unfortunately.

I agree with you 100%.

GTA V took some of the best elements of GTA SA, RDR, MC:LA, GTA IV and MP3 and combined it into a nearly perfect game. The City and the countryside are so detailed and beautiful like no other Open World Game in this Gen except RDR, in my view. I started a 2nd playthrough a few weeks ago, played already over 100 hours (still haven't finished story yet) and it is even more fun than the first playthrough!

GTA V is truly a masterpiece and the best game Rockstar Games has ever created. In my opinion, of course. Those who don't agree shouldn't feel offended. :p

Agreed. Unfortunately, there are some people around here who were such huge fans of these games, that they are bitching and whining about V not having every last damn feature from them. I'm a huge fan of MP3, so I might start logging in to this board everyday to complain because Michael can't cure himself with pills......seriously, that's how ridiculous it sounds with some of them. But glad you can at least understand that R* were trying to be innovative while bringing back a lot of the features from previous games.

I started a 2nd playthrough a few weeks ago, played already over 100 hours (still haven't finished story yet) and it is even more fun than the first playthrough!

While I already loved the game during my first playthrough, it wasn't until my 2nd and 3rd playthroughs that I begun to truely appreciate what R* had done with game. A lot of people complain about the story being too short, but when you mix up the heist options or choose to approach mission blips with different protags, you get:

a) new cutscenes

b) new dialogue

c) most importantly, new gameplay

This even gives the impression you're playing an entirely new game to an extent! And gives the game massive replay value.

GTA V is truly a masterpiece and the best game Rockstar Games has ever created. In my opinion, of course.

It is indeed my friend :^:

Those who don't agree shouldn't feel offended.

But they will. Some members will refuse to accept the game was a critical success from the overwhelming majority of the fanbase, and some even claim there's some sort of revolt and uprising going on. Stupid, i know.

By far. I hated everything they put out this gen, though midnight club was decent ( not as good has midnight club 3 dub edition remix). Gta IV was pure garbage. RDR was boring and as repetitive as gta IV, althought it had an interesting story. Max Payne was just boring.

Definitely not. If we consider only Rockstar North games then it was easily one of the worst games made in this generation. If we're consider it as game published by Rockstar Games it still will be pretty low. I can't say if I would actually find a R* game that would bore me so easily in so short period.
