Was Gta V the best R* Game This Gen?

i think if you Would of asked people if V Was going to be R* Finest game of the 7th Generation before September 17th most people would of said yes but does that still Remain The Same ?

 

As Much as i liked V I would have to say No for Me it goes To Grand Theft Auto IV With Max Payne 3 A Close 2nd.

For me personally? No. IV takes that title by far, with Max Payne 3 behind it.

No. Of course not. Red Dead Redemption was easily Rockstar's best game of the last gen.

 

GTA V is not even among the best GTAs, let alone the best Rockstar game of anything. Even the once much criticized GTA IV is considered by a significant amount of people to be better than V, including myself.

IV will always be special to me, more than any other game/GTA. I don't really know why, but I enjoyed every second of it, including EFLC, great story, great characters, great writting. Niko, Johnny and Luis were part of my inspirations back in 2010, the year I first played IV and EFLC on the Xbox.

 

I still remember that the same night or week I played V for the first time after putting the disk back to it's box, I looked at IV's box thinking how much it meant to me before, something that V -as cool as it is- will never replace.

 

So, was V Rockstar's best game in this gen for me? No.

GTA V is great but its not the best for me...

GTAIV had a way better story it was the only story ever in a game where i got attached to a character. You really get into the immigrant life of Niko and Roman. It had better car crashing physics as well. Still play GTAIV to this day along with V.

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar's gem last gen.

 

You could basically call it a new IP since it was their first time developing it instead of using Capcom's version. It won the MOST GOTY awards that year and had a mixture of great gameplay and story.

 

GTA V: All about gameplay while Story got left behind. Then it turns out that SP was second to MP.

GTA IV: All about Story while gameplay was left out.

LA Noire: All about Story

MP3: A game about story with a huge repetitive gameplay.

 

What also make RDR > GTA V is there isn't nearly as many open world cowboy games as there are open world modern days.

Certainly, I won't say that, but looking at the record breaking sales, and to the percentage of people who have some right genuine things in favor of the game, GTA V isn't that bad AT ALL.

 

For me, at this point, when the game is still open for SP DLC, and even more, if there are other things planned for the game, unless there is a line drawn for single player, just like GTA IV with all the updates, it won't be possible to pick any one, for now, and strictly talking about GTA Series.

RDR is my absolute favorite game this gen, above all else. GTA V is a great game, but not as good. The story, the character, the dialogue, it just can't compete with John Marston.

I would say that RDR is their masterpiece of this gen of consoles with GTA IV right behind that. Then Max Payne 3 and then GTA V

L.A Noire is joint second with GTA IV, and GTA V gets 3rd place.

 

Why? Because GTA V's story was disappointing, and MP is R*'s focus, not SP.

Sure, the gameplay was good, but it doesn't have a good story (GTA V's story is 6/10 for me. I rate the overall game is 8/10, but only because of the good gameplay elements such as character switching and shooting).

 

RDR had both - a good story and good gameplay. That's why RDR is #1 for me.
