, I played every THPS from THPS2 through the THUG and Wasteland series... THPS-3 is by far my absolute, hands-down favorite. That soundtrack, alone, was so amazing that I ended up purchasing every song on iTunes at one point, along with the tracks from THPS-4, etc... I keep them in an album called THPS: Game On and listen regularly.

Am I the only one that thought the video was retarded? I think its stupid you can do stunts like that. Its just over the top unrealistic

 

Call me old fashion but I prefer jumps that are somewhat real. You know with a ramp and landing ramp...Not just wheel at a ledge to boost 200ft+ in the air...

Here's a video (not mine) of some simpler jumps to work your way up to the Uber Tricky jumps. There's no words, so if the music hurts, feel free to mute. I would love to try out some bigger jumps, but I can't ever get as much air as the guy in the OP video. Is there some trick to it? Google isn't helping.

THUG had some great tracks too, if you're into hip-hop and punk.

 

Not that this is relevant. But I grew up on punk. First 3d skate game I played was top skater, and that featured many bands I was already into... Then cue Street Skater by EA (sucked) But great soundtrack. Got me into Less than Jake more than I was, and a few others.

 

By the time THPS came out I was already enthralled into punk, and hardcore acts like hatebreed, so it's sound track, and Dave Mirra and all those related games, like Crazy Taxi were just plugging hits from the skatepark, or my mixtapes/cd's mp3's... It is great.

 

Now that Channel X is in V it's the same thing. My favorite bands making a game appearance once again.

 

I grew up skating, and skated most of the parks or areas featured in THPS, like Skaters Island, Skatopia (I went there for a punk show...lol) Kona, skate street, love, burnside... A few of them before they were in subsequent games. Growing up in the late 90's and seeing that counter culture, and being a part of it really opened my eyes to quite a bit. Without punk, I would have never ordered the Anarchist Cookbook as a wee lad in the 90's and would have never cared for Grand Theft Auto. Todays GTA fan is the same as the run of the mill tap out dorito eating dude. I'm glad more got into it, but skateboarding got watered down like that too... And everyone remembers bands like Blink 182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte.... Watered down.

I really wish they'd put skateboards in this game. I know it's unnecessary, but stunting about in the BMX's really makes me want to skate in the skate parks and around the city. a huge open world skateboarding game would be amazing...
