Could have sworn there was a thread a few days ago about this. Just cause 2 has far less detail and is SP only, map is insanely big though.

GTA5 has more content. GTA5 has more details. GTA5 in general is just a larger game, minus the map. Console hardware limit the amount of content they can cram in there, like weapons, vehicles, vehicle customization, weapon customization, clothing.

It's mostly probably due to memory constraints, but I'm not exactly sure how it works.

Just Cause 2 has less things in the game that can happen at once.

What you have to understand, is that GTA5 has to be able to load, at once, and at random since it is all player controller, everything I mentioned above at any time.

This is why I want GTA5 on XboxOne/PS4. It will help with that. It will let R* put more things in the game that they maybe had to cut before due to those console limitations. And it will help with the STUPID draw distance when sniping.

You know, I LOVED Just Cause 2, but you have to admit, many islands were just empty with nothing to do on them.

What I thought was the funniest thing about JC2 is the game challenged you to get 100% of collectibles and buildings destroyed, but it was not possible to get 100% as there was one glitched water tower that never spawned. Players found out the coords to the water tower, but the building had no geometry.... The last 00.05% couldn't be collected!

GTA V has a manually created map, Just Cause 2 has a randomly generated map.

I haven't played the game tbh, but people claim that the world is bigger but emptier, I'd rather have a smaller map with more to do rather than a huge world that sucks up more of your console's memory for nothing. Just look at Sleeping Dogs, teeny tiny map but there's so much detail in there.

JC2 is big with piss poor detail.

you can't unsee trees always facing you.

JC2 mp mod feels like gta4, bigass map, everyone is in the main airport.

Apple's vs a fine wine. Quantity is not equal to quality. Who played JC2 over a half year later?

It takes 20 minutes to fly from one side of the Just Cause 2 map, to the other.

Damn, that's big.

Has anyone played The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall?

I'd like to see how it compares to GTA V's map. :p

One game world is far more detailed than the other.

One game world is handcrafted, whilst the other was procedurally generated.

Who really cares?

Does anyone actually still praise the size of L.A. Noire's map? No, because that sh*t got old fast and most sane people just quick traveled when they had the opportunity.

Damn, that's big.

GTA V's map would be about 0.02% the size of Daggerfall's. Maybe a little more lol

JC2 mainly just copy/pasted almost everything. Spawn locations are VERY small in size.

I goofed around in Just Cause 2 at a friend's house for about 30 minutes before getting bored.

Honestly they made the map for GTA V the perfect size. It allows you to fly and still take a while from airport to airport, however small enough to where you don't dread driving too damn far. That being said, GTA V has a map allowing you to do different things in different scenerios. People just forget that there's an open map outside the city of Los Santos

Yeah, I remember Daggerfall. It was huge but definitely most places felt pretty generic. The same old looking dungeon/city every time. Still, for it's time it was pretty epic. JC2 suffers from the same problem, everywhere you go it's all kind of samey. Gets boring after a while. GTA V, smaller map, way more detailed. Each area has it's own interesting vibe, compelling you to check it out more closely.
