Do you look forward to Non-contact races?

Non contact races? Sooooo you mean time trials...

Exactly what I've been saying since the start. I guess it doesn't really matter to me, but still.

All I really want is a "Phone Services: On/Off" for DM.

I'm looking forward to it. Players will have to rely on skills. Though I'm guessing everyone will have different traffic, otherwise you can still effect other players by smashing traffic.

How in the world would everyone have different traffic? Come on man use your noggin. Racing will be exactly the same as it has been just that you cant touch the other player cars.

Why not? No less realistic than everybody going right through each other.

I'm not going to race again until they ghost out everything that prevents me from winning. That includes trees, telephone poles, guardrails, NPC cars, and checkpoints.

I'd also like an option to turn off custom vehicles. Not ALL the custom vehicles - just every one but mine.

Oh what the heck - just let me enter my wins and losses myself.

Sounds absolutely f*cking stupid but I'm sure I'll be doing a good amount of them, especially within the first week of their release, since I mainly only do Quick Join Races.

I can see it now: Long Haul 2 > Supers > Customs On > Catchup On > Slipstream Off > Traffic Off > Contact Off = 16 racers finishing within 5 seconds of each other

Wow, seems to be a lot of people getting worried that pit manouvers are no longer going to win them races.

More like the same people who use slipstream and catch up to win races are now getting another pair of lacey pink panties from Uncle Rockstar.

Yes I do look forward to this, Then it will actually be based on skill and who is actually a better driver. instead of jackasses trying to spin you out to win.

I'm looking forward to it cuz I think it's a great idea that'll get rid of the demolition derby mentality of nearly every race you enter... but I predict that finding a race where the host is actually using this option will be as rare as one where catchup and slipstream are turned off. Of course, you could host your own and set the options however you want... but good luck getting more than 1 or 2 people to join...

If people would just turn catch up off the whole ramming issue would not be nearly as big of a problem.

You can't ram into what you can't catch.

I leave Catch-Up on because turning it off favors racers with custom cars... which it should.... but it keeps the playing field level for my friends who don't have custom cars in the class we're racing in.

It also encourages people to race in different vehicles. I hate muscle car races where everyone is in a Gauntlet and supers where everyone has a damn Entity XF.

Catchup is a BS mechanic that should be off by default.

Uh, yeah. Everyone knows that.

Even with Catch-Up turned on, it is really hard to gain ground against a driver with a fully modded vehicle but if you also turn off Custom Cars, everyone goes with stats and all drivers end up picking the same damn car..

I usually turn off everyting except for slipstream. Knowing when to draft and when to make your move is a part of racing.

I do. Can't wait to jump back in public racing again. I didn't try it since around last November.

Why? 'Cause I prefer racing more than demolition derby. And please, don't even get started with the "it's not racing it's time trials" argument bullsh*t.

I've raced somewhere in the realm of 800 races or so. Out of those, really only like 25 of them have been all out demolition derbies.

It's pretty easy from the start to see who is going to be the douche of the race. They are generally pretty easy to counter in a variety of ways because they lack any real driving skill.

Ghosting is just going to be a stupid bore fest. Is slipstream going to work? So now I can slipstream straight through the car in front of me instead of needing any skill whatsoever in using it to pass at the correct time and in the correct fashion?

As always, people will bitch and moan over having options.

Non Contact Racing is actually the only thing I like about The High Life Update. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a challenge every now and then but the amount of pitting in the game is just too damn high. I'll probably use both.

Well, do you?

I sure look forward to see my winrate become even higher!

Do you think you will win more, or less when it's

enabled?

What makes you think your "winrate" (not a real word btw) will become higher??????

Everyone else was in the same boat as you and now everyone is in the same boat as you still. It's not like you're the only one getting smashed before and it's not like you're the only one who is going to be able to ghost race.

Everyone's win/loss ratio is stay about the same.... it's just that races will be less frustrating.

Because I'm the best racer there is, and just unbeatable if no one are able to block or pit me.

I'm the frikkin undisputable racing champion, period.

Yes, that way I can see which race it it and decide how I'll play , if I join a contact race, I'm just going to forget the race and ram everyone I can to vent my frustrations from when I got pitted , if it's a no contact race I might actually try to get first.

So....when you (and others) still don't win races because you're not as good as you think you are, what exactly are you going to bitch and complain about until Rockstar adds more pansy options?

Not looking forward to it as I mostly race with my crew and you lose something when you don't have to account for the other vehicles on the course.

It's a great idea to include it in the game. And it's just an option. Those who like it will host their lobbies with it on. Those who don't won't.

I'm a time trial racer. Contact races can be entertaining but that's a different ball game. I'm more interested in the question of whether or not car (x) can beat a certain time on a certain track. Where does car (x) gain over car (y) on a certain track? Hot lappers will be able to race against each other in order to show which person has a better line around a certain corner, what works better and what doesn't work as good...all to get to the goal of getting the closest to the theoretical best racing line possible. Which cars are really the best around a specific track? Where is the Entity faster through a corner compared to the Turismo? We can test all of these things at the same time with other great hot lappers and see immediate feedback, it just brings another element that was missing from the racing platform.

Miss Malevolent

Not really. Seems quite lame to me, how can it be called racing if they remove the possibilities of making mistakes and crashing?

I agree...Turn Traffic off, Catchup off, Slipstream off, no Contact on, have a track that has minimal turns...and whomever is out in front, will stay out in front, even if they suck at driving.

It should be that if you turn no Contact on...one of the others should be kept on for default.

I'll finally be able to win when I deserve to. So sick of little losers making me crash and screwing me out of my race.

Ill just leave this here.

"No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'."

GTA online racing is demo derby. I'm fine with trading paint, but not when the loser comes across the whole road out of his way to hit me.

I see both sides of this. Some people fear it will be the mostly lobbies with no contact. These people enjoy the challenge and skill required to race clean while sharing lines through the course.

The other side is the people who don't enjoy being either rammed or accidentally being knocked out of a race. These people are super stoked on this addition because they can lay down their best lap times and know that if they mess up it's their own fault.

It will be hit and miss for both crowds. I am guessing most lobbies will be no contact but there will be a large contingent of hardcore racers who will only race with contact on.

I highly doubt that non contact races will have slipstream ability but coup possibly see them allowing catch up. I can see myself switching it up based on the group I'm playing with.

The only people disappointed with this are those who must hit the others and cause them to crash in order to win.

I'll be playing with non-contact ON. If you losers cannot control your vehicle and dodge traffic, then you're not very good at racing anyways. You should not be rewarded the win because of your inability to drive.

Yes I do, because I will win every single race I take part in.

You must hold the lap record for every single track. Are you Michael Schumaker?

I cannot wait for contact off. I am decent enough at racing to get in the top 5 in random lobbies filled with 18 racers. I do NOT rely on wrecking other racers to win because I don't need to. Crappy racers may still wreck, but they won't wreck into me. I do join quick-play races frequently.

I might actually race now. I don't mind smashing into people in tight corners, but when they do nothing else but try to ram you, ugh. Keep demolition derby where it belongs. that said they should bring back the bloodring from san andreas, with the cars too.
