That's excellent too actually. That way Mata can play through the centre which he's better at. I reckon Di Maria should be swapped with Herrera purely because his left foot is f*cking amazing. While Herrera is obviously right footed so it should be more comfortable for him to pass and dribble.

Mata isn't great out on the side, I'd rather have Januzaj play than put Mata out there.

This is probably our strongest formation/line-up right now.

Exactly the formation and team I would play :^:

Actually Jones is still injured isn't he? Switch him with Evans.

Yeah he is. I meant that would be my starting 11 when everybody is fit.

Just watched some best of videos of players like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho on youtube. It's a shame that there are (almost) no players left who can play with such an arrogance (I meant it in a positive way) and who perform such amazing long dribblings and tricks with their whole body like chest or shoulders. It seems to me that today only short solo performances by single players are supported and most of the time the players try to get through by passing and finding the few free spaces. It looks more like "work" than like a "show". Even the Brazilian team played so "European" during the last word cup. Will we ever see more of the old stuff again? Or has it become ineficient?

Then again I am only a football noob, but I hope you know what I mean.

Some of the pundits here in Ireland brought up the same point and put it down to players being "over coached" to the point of any self expression being tutored out of their game. It's certainly something to think about.

I think this is one reason. I also read an article that many players with incredible individual skills like Messi or C. Ronaldo played "Futsal" as child. This is an officially recognised varaint of indor football on a much smaller pitch, with five players per team and handball goals. This game helps the players to control the ball in the smallest spaces and outplay the opponent players. This game is very popular in South America and Portugal but for example in Germany it is only a small trend sport and most football players in the Bundesliga have probably never played it.

Futsal is very popular in Italy too. Also in Portugal and Spain. But really it's not just about Futsal, it's more about playing in the street or everywhere else when you are a kid.

When I was a kid we'd play in the street every weekend if not every day. In front of a supermarket's tight boardwalk, inside a closed gas station, in the classroom, in the park (rarely though) and when it rained even in the living room!

We'd play sometimes with a proper football ball but if we had not one available even a tennis one would serve. I used to make a ball with paper and duct tape at school.

This way you learn to play with so many physical obstacles and difficulties that you get to improve your skill very quickly.

Nowadays I don't see much of this in Italy but I see still a lot of this in Portugal.

Then you grow up and you start to play Futsal with friends just to enjoy a proper field.

Futsal instead of football cause it's easier to gather 10 friend with short notice rather than 22.

Quite surprised it's not played in Germany.

Maybe cause you have more access to 11 players football fields.

Looking forward to a good weekend of football again. A couple of good games. The City v Chelsea game is definitely the game of the weekend.

Yaya Toure needs to fix up big time. He wasn't even interested in the game against Munich, regardless if it's CL or not. I know he's getting old, but last season he was a force to be reckoned with. This season, he looks like an outsider that's struggling to fit in.

You missed the joke, I'll forgive you since you are as you say a newbie at football. Maradona was a famous footballer famous for a handball goal, he was Argentine, so I took what you said about futsal beign popular in south america and it including handball goals and came up with Maradona.

Sorry, I didn't mean goals scored with hands but the goals that are used in the sport handball.

@ Doc Rikowski, I remember in elementary school we had several sitting benches on the schoolyard that stood almiost in line and we used them as goals and played with a tennis ball every day before school and during the breaks. After school we played on the big field but that is still smaller than a real football field. Those were really good times.

1860 Munich's kit for their games during the two Oktoberfest-weeks

That looks even uglier than the 2013/14 Bayern München Bundesliga away kit

haha, Guardian's MBM reads "I think that's Oxelade-Chamberlain with the mis-hit cross.." leading to Cissokho's own goal. Not sure if they meant that on purpose.

West Ham deserved that, tried harder all over the pitch, Gerrard should have been subbed off.

Gerrard was turd today and Rodgers really should have took him off. Not impressed with the Liverpool defense or midfield, they just don't have that bite in the middle of the park. Vidal type of player would do them good. They are also not as fierce going forward without Sturridge and Suarez. Great stuff from West Ham though, big Sam got it spot on!

Suarez was a striker.

West Ham played well though, not sure if Sakho intended to chip the keeper but it was a great goal.

Liverpool were atrocious. The only guy I saw that was putting major effort was Sterling, everyone else was complete dog sh*t. Brendan needs to get rid of the sh*tbags of defence like Lovren, Moreno and Sakho. Worst defence I've seen so far, after what United have been through before. Also, Gerrard should just straight up retire in case he ends up slipping in every match and cause he is a giant turd now, did not put any effort in that match lmao, Lallana was definitely a wrong signing (props to the genius southampton), and Henderson is another sh*t midfielder. Liverpool have made the worst transfers of the season.
