Haven't seen any action from the game, but from what I hear Stoke also had a stonewall pen turned down in the first half. What a result though for Stoke, and us.

parking the bus is a great strategy, it's very complicated to pull off and when teams do it well it can be fantastic to watch (Atletico De Madrid) i'm not sure why people get so fussy about it. If you come up against a team with the talent and money City has, would you dare to attack them for 90 minutes? i'm one for tactical football, I appreciate the depth of the game as opposed to the flash. I don't blame Stoke for one second, I think they played pretty well defensively and that solo goal was stunning. Quite frankly City should take apart a team like this at home with ease but not today.

Stoke played really well there. Oh and screw anybody that criticizes the smaller teams for parking the bus. You do what you have to do to win, teams don't have to play fancy football. Plus, it's not like Stoke do it all the time under Hughes. He actually has them playing some good football. If people expect a team like Stoke to go up against City playing attacking football then you seriously need to re-think the match up of the two sides.

 

Everton v Chelsea coming up soon. Been looking forward to this match all week!

 

@Trevor Phillips Enterprise: Go look up van Gaal's history as a manager. Especially his time at Ajax. I understood people taking the piss out of Moyes as he has won f*ck all in his career but when people starting doubting van Gaal as a manager is really pathetic and clearly don't know the man or his history as a manager.

Costa will finish top scorer by a long shot. I can't believe people doubted him, absolutely class finisher and overall a beast of a player. Some of his goals and assists for Atleti over the last 2 seasons have been stunning. Costa & Falcao up front really was a sight to see.

Drunken poetry aside. As an Everton fan I'm in no way pleased with todays performance. Barry and McCarthy look slow and sloppy. Distin and Jagielka are having communication problems and Jagielka is sloppy.

 

Everton have always been slow starters. With Martinez they're not as slow, but still slow. Conceding 6 is too slow. I'm not at all worried. Work will be done in training and Everton will get back to their level. Arsenal and Chelsea at home and an eager newly promoted team away isn't a desirable start.

 

I predict a battle for 5th and 6th with Spurs and Man U, as well as reaching the semi-final of the europa league.

Oh my giddy eye that was some game. Great stuff from both teams. That f*cking linesman was blind though, Howard handled the ball about a yard outside his area. Ivanovic was offside for his goal, and Costa was onside when through 1v1 but Lino gave him offside. So that lino had an awful game. Howard should count his lucky stars he didn't get sent off though, for the hand ball and for his crazy behaviour after Coleman's own goal. Didn't headbutt Azpilicueta but he did everything but, and did put his head into his face like a psycho.

 

Glad with the 3 points though, Everton never give you an easy game and they certainly didn't today. Been a while since we've come away with 3 points at Goodison.

Costa now sitting with 4 goals and he's only made 3 apps. Definitely the best summer signing imo.

 

Other than that, best game of the season so far. Period. If there's a game better than today's later in the season I will punch myself in the face.

f*cking hell, what a game that was! I was watching it at my fiance's place and both she and her mother couldn't take their eyes off the TV either. I had an inkling that we would win but never in my dreams would I have imagined us putting 6 past Everton at Goodison Park. The second half was mind blowing.

 

And I so desperately wanted Costa to get a second goal and he did. That made my day. 4 goals in 3 matches. f*cking brilliant. Dear Torres, if you were watching, this is how you do it.

Well Stoke haven't done it nowhere near as much as they used to do when Pulis was in charge. Plus at the end of the day the aim is to win and win only. Doesn't matter how you do it just win, if Liverpool parked the bus every single game but we got three points everytime I could care less wheter people liked to watch us or not.

You can see Stoke are trying to get away from that but at some stadiums you simply do not attack. You do not attack at the Etihad without ending up getting raped (unless you're Barcelona etc) it's simple. I don't expect any team to attack at that stadium this season, the ones that do will get hammered. I think defensive football is the key, I also think Chelsea will play the same way and win again at the Etihad because City have no answer to it.
