So when big Sam plays this sh*te against Chelsea it's '19th century football', but when Mourinho does it against Athletico it's 'tactics'? f*cking bullsh*t, it's all sh*t and Pulis could have this Chelsea side playing like this.

 

@Beanee: good man. I've got a lot of time for The Tricky Trees, one of my best mates at Uni is a big forest fan and he's basically a wreck at the moment because you're so close to the play-offs. I want to you guys back in the prem.

 

Our season has had ups and downs but we're still in a pretty strong position. If we can beat Brighton, we stand more of a chance, as they are above us by 1 point, and we have them last game of the season. Forest are a great club, everybody just looks on them, even though we have a rich history and are pretty decent! Does your friend go to Trent uni?

 

And thanks Max, It'd be great to be back in the prem! Even if we don't stay up, knowing that we got there (plus those handy parachute payments ) will be enough - obviously, I'd like us to stay up there and be just like the olden days, when only Blackburn could beat us!

One of the best games I ever watched was a game between us and Forest. It would've been about 2006 or 2007 and we were 2nd and you were 3rd. I think it was a draw but I just remember there being some great football for League One, and the sun was out. And there was a Forest fan on the train on the way up and we got a pie with him outside the ground. I just remember being almost as devastated when you collapsed against Yeovil in the playoffs as I was whenever we lost in the playoffs.

 

There are certain teams that belong at certain levels. Forest are definitely a lower mid-table Premier League club on the basis of support and certainly history. Although maybe I'm a little biased as I've always been a massive fan of the football that you played before my time. And I would have given my right arm for just one season of Premier League football while I was young enough to go and see all of the games, regardless of whether we stayed up or not.

 

@Max: Of course it's tactics, but it's these kind of awful tactics that ruin spectacles for the neutral. I'm definitely an idealist when it comes to football tactics -- the kind of guy who would always set a team up to outscore rather than contain -- so it's always a little bit galling when I see managers setting out to just spoil (although I'd give Big Sam more rope in that respect because he's not managing a team which is in the Champions League semi-finals)...

There worst part is Chelsea spends millions of dollars on transfers but still puts ten men in the box. The least you could do is play attractive football.

I do reckon Mourinho deserves praise for his tactical awareness, I'm not saying he is absolutely amazing but he has an effective formula and it works. But it seems bizarre to me that they have players like Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian yet are rarely prepared to play the type of football which fits their talent best.

Yeah you have played good football I agree, but I'd hardly describe you as a team with deep and consistent attacking flair, which is odd considering the players you have. I don't think you park the bus every game you play at all, but it has always been a huge part of Mourinho's philosophy to play disciplined defensive football especially against bigger threats, and that hasn't changed since he's taken back over at Chelsea. *shrug*

To be honest I'm glad Bayern are losing, other than that dive from Muller at the end. Bayern were actually fun to watch for those last five minutes. To see 90 minutes of that at the Allianz arena would be spectacular since Real would now be in the defensive (I presume).
