As has been pointed out, Moyes was far more successful in his first year than Fergie was and yes the game has moved on but I felt he should have been given this summer and the start of next season to see if he could put it right. You sign a man on a 6 year contract, sack him after 10 months and leak the details of the sacking to the press before telling him directly. That is really poor form in my opinion. I know SAF was there for twenty something years, but other clubs have changed managers in the past and found success in their first year in charge. There is no excuse for how United is playing. Not achieving success wasn't Moyes' fault, I don't think many Utd fans or anyone were expecting him to actually win the title or any trophy. But to fail so badly is definitely his fault. For them to not get CL football next season isn't something you can excuse him from or blame on poor upper management and bad transfer policy. He had the squad to get top 4, easily. 6th or 7th place finish is Moyes' own doing. It's not like he even failed but with a good philosophy, if he'd have at least tried to play an expansive positive style of football I might have some sympathy for him. The United fans I know wanted Moyes out after the Liverpool game. You may of stood by him and a few other United fans but some United fans certainly didn't stick by him. I do think next season would have been better but I can understand the club not being able to afford another season out of CL is too big a risk. Beanee Posted April 22, 2014 Share Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) I do feel sorry for Moyes, and it shows the impatience that teams and owners have towards those running the club; I think the face is Louis van Gaal to take over, especially as Hiddink is leaving Holland after the WC. He knows his football, plays good attacking football and knows his sh*t, so he'd be a great appointment. I think he'd fair better than Giggsy, even though Giggs has practically babysitted that club since the 90's. Are there many fans of the Championship here? Any supporters of those teams?
