Tommy-Vercetti19
It's really f*cked up. I hate FIFA. They just continue to disappoint me. Can we have sideline/goal cameras so we don't have another handball fiasco and give away a place in the WC. I was shocked with Qatar, never really heard of them before. Just on the Sky News weather ads. Seeing a report on Russia too, they were saying the location for the WC 2018 is very remote aswell, with only 6 stadiums with hi-speed transport out of a supposed 13, when England could of had that for all. I'm just bewildered by it. Some parts of England could of had a major lift if they would of won the bid.
Attorney General
I also don't want to have to walk 10 feet behind my husband. Or risk setting off a social uproar for not shrouding yourself from head to toe in black cloaks in 130 degree heat. Yea...good call. See you in Brazil? They'll string you up for that. I'm sure one of the biggest sponsors of the WC, Budweiser, are happy about the 2022 winners.
dills
It is a punishable offence to drink alcohol or be drunk in public. Offenders may incur a prison sentence or deportation. Alcohol is, however, available at licensed hotel restaurants and bars, and expatriates living in Qatar can obtain alcohol on a permit system. You should not carry alcohol with you, including in your car (except to take it on the day of collection from the warehouse to your home You should dress modestly when in public, including whilst driving. Women should cover their shoulders and avoid wearing short skirts. You should behave courteously at all times. Any intimacy in public between men and women (including between teenagers) can lead to arrest. Homosexual behaviour is illegal in Qatar. Sounds like anyone going to the 2022 WC is going to have a whale of a time.

Ari Gold
As bewildered and shocked as I am, Qatar will host a better world cup than South Africa. It's a better country, too; it's a US ally, their living standards are just as good as those in the United Arab Emirates (if not better), and their GDP per capita is nearly twice as large as that of the US. Although, the vote shrieks of corruption, calling Qatar a sh*t-hole is just baseless, really. My Maths teacher (who's an Anglo-Saxon White woman) worked as a teacher there for a year, and she said it's basically like any other conservative state, and although there was a bit of a culture clash, the people there respected her fully, as Westerners (usually) do to foreigners coming to our country. A quarter of the population are ex-pats from other countries, anyway, so it's hardly a "terrorist hell-hole". Besides, if you want to celebrate with alcohol, you can drink in licenced premises. And why would you want a group of people to be rowdy and obscene, anyway? While I find it excessive to arrest people and make it illegal for people to be obscene, I certainly prefer that than to have people running around like idiots pissed off their faces, even if their country did win the World Cup. I'd probably go a bit crazy if my country won the World Cup, but not to the point of being "obscene". Celebrating your team win doesn't mean you have to be obscene. Besides, if you want to be obscene, then that's what hotel rooms catering for Western tourists are for. I'm happy for Russia, though. That'll actually be a great tournament. I don't think FIFA is caring about attendances... They're caring more about the stadiums that will have to be built, and how some of that money can end up in their pockets. Just look at the WC in Brazil. The head of the Brazilian FA made a deal between the FA and himself, whereby giving him absolute power in deciding how the profits from the competition will be distributed, including a share to himself... LanceVanceDance07
Thinking about this whole bid announcement for the day, I came to this conclusion... We should have seen this coming. Because it is FIFA. Now I have no beef with Russia and Qatar, they have every right to make their bids, and i'm sure that they can host a fantastic tournament, but this is all FIFA's fault. Sepp Blatter and Jack Warner are the cancers, the scum. And about England not getting the World Cup, the English media is largely to blame (as Waddy pointed out), from the Lord Triesman scandal to the BBC Panorama broadcast. To see that England only got two votes for the first round of voting says two things... 1: FIFA is truly a corrupt organization, and the people in power need to be removed. 2: The English media negatively influenced their chances of hosting a World Cup in 2018. If the World Cup was in England for 2018, FIFA would've been under the microscope for corruption from the English media regardless. FIFA doesn't want to be accused for that, they want to be out of the negative limelight. Also, while I was watching the FIFA broadcast, Sepp Blatter referred to England as "the motherland of football". If I was an Englishman after hearing that, and not get past the first round of voting, I would be enraged and insulted. Sepp Blatter has basically insulted English football. FIFA is not a government, it is merely a business. Unfortunately they can do whatever the f*ck they want. I honestly cannot believe that this is the world that we live in. Where money rules, and that there is no real soul or passion. Its the decisions made by FIFA that question why I even watch football in the first place. Ari Gold
As corrupt as they are, I'm still inherently happy for the Russians. Finally, they'll have a chance to show to the world that they're capable of hosting a major sporting event, and considering that they're yet to host anything significant since the Moscow Olympics (back when it was still the Soviet Union), it'll be a good chance for them to prove that they have the infrastructure and capability to host huge, global events. Russia's one of the most interesting and culturally-rich countries on the planet, and even though they're not capable of hosting a World Cup right this second, they will be prepared by 2018. I'd drag on a bit more, but considering that the footy regulars are largely English, I'll spare you any more pain. But, as annoying as it is, we've got to put the negatives aside since we're unable to change it; both Qatar and Russia will be capable of hosting the World Cup, they wouldn't have put in bids if they weren't, so it's perhaps better to look forward to some quality tournaments in countries relatively unknown to a lot of people, instead of moping about because your country didn't get to host the World Cup. I mean, a lot of people were complaining about South Africa receiving the World Cup, but can anyone say that it was a poor World Cup? So yeah, FIFA are corrupt, but they've got a sh*t-load of money, and they're not silly enough to let their tournaments turn into failures.

Waddy
Russia is a really cool place. Moscow is awesome. Shame the venues will be too far apart and it will of course be a bit cold...I dont know much about the internal transport system but I am sure by 2018 the place will be perfect and ready to go, 8 years is a very long time! Its only 4 hours from here too so its not like South Africa or Asia. I am only disappointed its not in the UK because of the regeneration to certain area's such as Moss side in Manchester or Toxteth in Liverpool would have been totally re-developed. Russia however I imagine has places far worse than these that need the injection of funds.
