SIKKS66
Russia?! Seriously who wants to go to that Lenin loving hell hole? Give me old unified Communist USSR anyday over modern Russia! Yeah atleast they got sh*t done. And if they didn't people would bleed in the Gulag. Tbh I've been thinking all day Russia would get it. It's a new land for them to build on and how amazing was the Moscow Champions League Final? Not as a game (which United won hurray) but as a spectacle with the pre and post match fanfare. f*ck it, it should be a great spectacle. But they can't buy the soul which our fans would have brought. SilentSeas
Shocking result, why choose a nation that lacks the stadiums and infrastructure? It should have gone to either us or Spain/Portugal. I'm just hoping that the USA don't win as its not that long since they last hosted. EDIT - Qatar have won, two suprise results.
JoeyLeone25
Absolutely gutted. To have gone out in the first round of voting (allegedly) is ridiculous. To be fair, Football is probably the most corrupt sport in the world, we just choose (due to our love of the game) to keep ourselves in the dark. We'll probably bribe somebody for the 2030 World Cup anyway, what comes around, goes around... Anomalous Material.com <--> AMF Multiplayer Topic Join Quidco and get Cashback for buying things online! SIKKS66
Qatar and Russia? Damn, a bit of money really does speak. So that's 23 new stadia that will be need to be built around the world in the next 12 years. Have fun. We have it all already. Edit: Anyone else annoyed at these Russian delegates holding the World Cup aloft? I'm quite certain our guys would have had a bit more respect for what that trophy means. Beckham, Charlton, Lineker etc wouldn't have. Winning players get to hold the trophy, nobody else. c*nts. Edit 2: Apparently we came fourth of the four. Imagine the backlash if Jack Warner and his CONCACAF chums switched their vote because of the BBC? Wouldn't surprise me. These old bastards, why do they get to decide anyway? So gutted Edited December 2, 2010 by SIKKS66
Mand'alor
The smug look on Roman's face, I bet his pockets are a bit lighter. As an Irishman I'm gutted, was genuinely looking forward to gong to a World Cup which would have been an hour away.

LanceVanceDance07
I'm more than shocked right now... F*ck Sepp Blatter, he's more interested in building "his legacy" then anything else. Absolute f*cking farce I say. I would go into detail about the bids but i'm still trying to take it all in.

SIKKS66
England need to win the 2018 World Cup, it would be a huge kick the teeth to FIFA. Russian weather might suit our lads too. @ gta3kuruma: Ah let me be bitter for today at least. Like I say, Russia 2018 should be a great spectacle just like SA 2010 (hopefully the football will be better). Not sure if Qatar will be any good though. USA and Australia have some immense stadia and are mad sporting nations, I'd have much prefered it to be there. Strange times. Hope I'm wrong, Qatar have deep pockets, hopefully that will be a spectacle too. Let's take a little joy in the fact that if Russia or Qatar f*ck it up and their venues/infastructure are not up to scratch, England can jump in to the rescue at a moments notice. And tell them to get f*cked. Edited December 2, 2010 by SIKKS66

I'm shocked that FIFA would rather choose a nation which is known by most (ask your friends whats they "think of Russia") as a dangerous, racist, cold nation, over that of two countries with a footballing dynasty and the infrastructure's easily handle an event of this magnitude and thensome. Just my opinion, anyway. Anomalous Material.com <--> AMF Multiplayer Topic Join Quidco and get Cashback for buying things online!
JoeyLeone25
Quatar? REALLY? What the f*ck, FIFA? It has a population of around 1.8 million, 2million less than Uruguay which WAS the nation with the smallest population to hold a World Cup. It's three times smaller in area than Holland (or Switzerland), again making it the nation with the smallest area to host a World Cup, but... They can, or will, build this... gta_player5
The nice red hue to the sky is from the oil well fires that are raging in the background... Qatar is smaller than Connecticut and has a population less than Houston... They may have a few stadiums from the Asian Games and the funds to build more venues, but it makes no sense to send it there as opposed to the U.S., IMHO. Given, I am biased because I'm American, however, the U.S. has a ton of relatively new and outrageously priced stadiums that could host matches. Had Australia won the 2022 bid I wouldn't be miffed, because that would be their first time hosting the World Cup and it would be pretty cool (except for the timezone difference ). But, Qatar? Really? Ugh, FIFA, FIFA, FIFA, what are we gonna do with you?
SIKKS66
I love the stadia in the US which made me a bit bias to wanting it to go there. I mean, all their stadia range from 60,000 to the 95,000 Rose Bowl. Whether you guys would fill them is another thing (soccer not even being one of the three biggest sports over there). But still, Cowboys Stadium leaves me breathless when I see pics on the web, let alone being there. Linky Apparently, other than the English chap on the board, we got THREE votes in total. What the actual f*ck. Edit: Make it two. Damn. Edited December 2, 2010 by SIKKS66

SIKKS66
Not too bothered about Qatar. THAT should have been Blatter's little expand FIFA project. How Russia got 2018 ahead of England and Spain/Portugal (even Holland/Belgium; Holland have given football so much) I'll never know. Their club football is historically corrupt and even now they are hardly world beaters. CSKA, Spartak et al. are all CL group stage fodder. Oh and: Maybe I'm just immensely bitter and generalising all Russian fans. But I just can't see how the WC will stamp out all their problems. Edit: Full vote for 2018: Round 1: England 2 votes, Netherlands/Belgium 4 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 9 votes. Round 2: Netherlands/Belgium 2 votes, Spain/Portugal 7 votes and Russia 13 votes (Russia obtain absolute majority) And Qatar beat USA in the final round of the 2022 vote. Waddy
To be fair to Russia, they have been favourites from day 1, we were not even 2nd favourites. Its our own stupid fault, we allow a program to be broadcast on a country paid for TV station which calls FIFA corrupt, it attacks members with accusations of fraud and wrong doing which I am not saying didnt happen, it probably did and the other members will also be worried about what else could be dug up. I know people will say its an excuse but seriously...why would they vote for us? What a great excuse the BBC gave them not to vote for us. Its a huge shame, would have brought vital money into the UK but hey ho. Russia is a very vibrant place these days, a lot more people visiting. I cant wait to go.
