I really, really hope that playing in Europe will bring how his level of diving. It pisses me off so much. And Felipao pisses me off for never playing Lucas. I mean, Fred? Seriously? That's our reference now?

I felt that way about Fred at first... but his job is to be positioned correctly and score... and he's been doing it pretty damn well. So I'm happy. And besides, I don't know what you're talking about... subbing Fred for Lucas doesn't make sense since they don't have the same roles on the field...

I feel he should sub Hulk off, changing his 4-3-3 formation to a 4-4-2. Hulk hasn't been doing sh*t, and with Lucas' speed, he could cover the right attacking side, running the wings and diving into the center when necessary. But I trust Scolari, just like I did in 2002. It's his team, and his tactics have been working.

 

As for Neymar, I don't give a f*ck if he dives in a situation like the one on the .gif. You really don't understand football if you criticize that move... If my team were winning I'd dive at any play and stay down... faking an injury or something. Sure, it does get annoying when he does it in the middle of matches for no reason... that pisses me off. But with one minute to go, you want to stop the f*cking game.

And I'm not just singling out that particular dive, Neymar is a dive queen. Every little touch, even the absence of it, causes him to fall down like he'd been shot. What an intense match between Spain and Italy. Both of them played equally and dangerously but in the end Spain won. I do like Italian team and am a fan but i wish this game was played like this in Euro 2012.

Ok, good. I thought you wanted to sub Fred for Lucas which would be ridiculous. Can you at least agree with me that a Lucas-Hulk sub is effective? And as for Damiao... I'm an S.C. Internacional supporter, but I'd much rather have Fred since his positioning is impeccable and he also serves the purpose of an attacker to come in the second-post from behind the defense and head the ball in... essentially what Paulinho did last match.

Catimba is a necessary evil in football. I don't like it, but I see its purpose and its necessity to cool a game. I'm sure you know how this gets to the psychological side as well as the physical side of the players. You see that even Buffon did it (and a lot!) today to slow the game and have it go to Penalties.

As for Neymar, 9/10 times I'd agree with you that his diving is an insult to the Beautiful Game, but not this time. Yes, it's obviously ugly to see this, however, if it were me, I wouldn't care. He's there to do his job and win, and he did well in stopping the game for a finish.

As for the Spain-Italy game... I knew Italy would tire from the first-half, but they played really well down that right wing with Maggio. Quick switches from left-to-right forced the Spanish defense to get messed up. Spain couldn't reach the gap between the Italian midfield-line and their defensive-line. I don't see why El Sharaawy wasn't put in. I also liked how Italy upped their man-marking towards the Spanish half and managed to back off when they thought it was unnecessary, hence, not allowing for a quick counter-attack.

Definitely, the Hulk-Lucas sub is a no brainer to me. With the speed of Lucas down the wing, it would free Neymar up from some defenders so he can stop diving at every touch and focus on his skills. I completely understand the purpose of the catimba, but I still despise it

 

I too can't understand why El-Sharaawy was not brought in. He has a lot of quality and speed, could have been at least a super sub on the second half, when the teams were getting worn. Still, feel bad for Italy, going down in the penalties. Great game regardless.

Well I'm glad that the worst team Italy ever had in the past 50 years managed to force to penalties the best team Spain ever had in its history.

That says a lot on the poor quality of Spain.

You know, with me it's funny... I always support Italy as my solid second int'l team after Brazil, however today, although cheering for Italy, deep down I wanted Spain to win. The Brazil-Italy confrontation has already happened and many people expected a Brazil-Spain final this Confederations Cup.

Although we have the best team in football to beat on Sunday, I feel it is a lot better than playing Italy because we can actually have a head-to-head against Spain with both full squads and see how we compare against their 11.

Speaking of which, has anyone followed the latest "leaks" from Spanish media? The Spanish team had a little party after the Nigeria game where a band supposedly came to the hotel and played at their dinner; well, this band brought over 5 girls, who later joined 5 unnamed players for a round of strip poker. After that, the players took the ladies to their rooms and next morning they woke up missing an estimated one-thousand Euros. They did not want to report anything to the police because it would be too shameful and against the professionalism usually displayed by the Spanish team.

 

Next day, this is leaked by a player to the Spanish press, they travel to another city, spend the night out and come back to the hotel at like 4AM with some girls... the hotel knows about what had happened in the previous night at their previous hotel and asks the women to leave. In protest, the (probably drunk) Spanish players throw out TV remotes, water bottles and soap out the hotel's window.
