I was at a cousin's house watching it smile.gif

Sad end to what could of been a really fantastic career, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as a decent pundit.

I would, seen him before on MoTD, awful. He's a Steady Eddie, saying all the basics.

Well that was when he was a guest and not a proper pundit, so I think we can chalk that up to being a rookie smile.gif

To say he's vanilla is an insult to vanilla. Last time he was o one of those BBC shows he mentioned something about getting his coaching badges... great so we're going to get a manager doing boring post match interviews then. turn.gif

Jesus, I'd feel for the players; last thing you need after a tiring 45 minutes, it to listen to him for another 15.

I must thank BBC for posting his stats - you forget how damn good Owen actually was.

Exactly.

If he gets into coaching I think he'd be great, a pretty uninspiring manager but he's got bags of experience he can pass on.

But then I'm biased, he's doing a wonderful job with my Under 18s on Football Manager.

He's got the enthusiasm, and that says a lot really. Look at Gary Neville, for example - expert job helping the under 21s.

Arsenal have to play United and Newcastle, plus Tottenham play Everton next, along City and Chelsea.

So we only have 1 hard team left?

WBA away, Everton home, Fulham away, Manchester United home and the time will speak if QPR away will be one more challenge. If you think those games are likely to be won, except Manchester United, you're probably too confident about your team. Arsenal are mistake prone and we'll see if they can overcome the deficit between them and Tottenham & Chelsea.

What I'm saying is that, on paper, there is only 1 team left, on paper arsenal should beat any of those teams, except for manu.

I'm aware that arsenal might mess it up, I just hope tottenham will colaps more than arsenal will mess up.

We were embarrassed by QPR at Loftus last year (I was there sad.gif) so nothing is over tip it's mathematically over.

So everything can happen. Meanwhile, West Ham will play on the Olympic Stadium.

I don't see what the fuss is about. It looks very temporary (the whole thing is like a posh looking bus stop up close) and you're nowhere near the pitch when in the stands.

using it as their stadium and leaving upton park is one thing, but to be playing upon the actual roof is a step too far

As a West Ham fan, I've got mixed emotions.

Obviously leaving Upton Park is sad, but if the club wants to grow its a neccessity. I don't know how many of you may have been there but its hemmed in on all sides and there's simply no room to expand.

If, and this is a big if, what the Davids and Karen say is the plan is actually the plan then it will be a fantastic move. They apparently want to take off the top tier completely, raise the current Bottom tier so its higher and then have retractable seating, across the running track and right up to the pitch. Supposedly not a single seat in the ground will be futher than any seat at Wembley so you'll still be close to the action which is one of the great things about Upton Park. Feels like you're on the Pitch from some seats.

If it all goes to plan we'll have a Stadium of around 54,000 seats which, I think I'm correct in saying would give us the 2nd biggest London ground after the Emirates. We'd have an increased profile by being in such an iconic stadium and greater revenue so in theory we'd be able to attract better players. There's a bunch of other little things they're promising too which will only mean anything to Hammers fans like naming a Stand after Sir Bobby Moore like we have now to make us all feel more at home. So overall, I've read the bits of the plan they've released and I'm convinced. But then I'm also sceptical about what will actually be delivered.

In terms of detractors: I honestly can't see what their problem with a football team using it is. It will still remain a viable Athletics venue as well as now being fit for a myriad of other sporting events. (Planning to have Rugby Games there during the 2015 World Cup). It's getting regular use and generating revenue via rent and naming rights so its not standing idle as a drain on taxpayer money and having a football team in Stratford is vital to continue the areas regeneration.

Also, again, if you've never been to a West Ham game, home or away you'll probably be wondering how a team like ours, that's been through 2 relegations in 10 years could possibly fill 54,000 seats. Well I promise you, and I hope if anyone else has seen us they can back me up on this, but we're genuinely one of the best supported teams in the country and that's not just a boast. West Ham has a massive following and a new stadium, and hopefully a turn up in fortunes (i.e. better footballing ethos and manager at the club) and you'll see that we will not be rattling around that stadium.

Well that was a narrow win by England tonight, glad we got the eighth goal as I was sweating at seven.

Meanwhile, in Zagreb... sad.gif

Well deserved to the Croats, since Serbia, like always, played like arse. Why do I even bother following international football? It's just perpetual frustration and disappointment.

WE!?

WTF Croke. It used to give me a hard time working out whether you were Scottish or American. Now there's a third nationality being thrown in there.

As for West Ham. I've been there (Upton Park) a couple of times. Once for the Bobby Moore cup, when they played Villareal and only 1 Villareal fan turned up. The other was a Prem game against Aston Villa, I think Villa won 3-2. I remember not wanting to speak on the way in to the ground to my West Ham supporting cousin, in case the other hammers fans mistook my northern accent as being Brummie and then stabbed me to death.

And West Ham are very well supported, especially in London. My cousin is always telling me how they're the most supported London club inside London, but then he also tries to tell me that West Ham won the World Cup so clearly he has a screw loose.

I'm half English, half Scottish, born in England, Welsh first name, Irish last name, have lived most of my adult life in Scotland as well as stints in Belize and Cyprus, but feel American and would love to live there.

What about starting league/ending it a bit earlier as to allow a month or so for international friendlies. Of course I'm not taking into account what effect this will have on the teams or players, because frankly I do not care in the slightest. cool.gif
