Not an overaly convincing game from United's point of view, but some of those youngsters look promising. That Vermiji looked fantastic and so did that Wootton. Glad to see Fletcher play a full game, missed that guy. Also some good play from Rooney and two great goals by Anderson and Cleverley.  icon14.gif

That Buttner looks some player!

He does indeed. He has a fair bit of strength, pace and great vision to pick out a cross. He sure isn't afraid of attacking either.

Decent enough. Hopefully our youngsters will get some more games and gobble up this COC.

Will be a tricky game at Stamford Bridge, but I would rather play Chelsea away than win like 6-0 against f*cking Swindon or something...

Some Man Utd. fan, on an article that I was reading, commented that there should be a good, unbiased referee for the Chelsea match. Then he went ahead and suggested Howard Webb. I almost fell off my chair laughing.

No matter who the ref will be, there will always be complaints from certain individuals...

COC attendences:

Arsenal : 58,000

man united : 46,000

Congrats on winning this weeks attendance cup tounge.gif.

What was Fletcher out with for this long? some sort of stomach problem?

Sahin the beast, improved a lot since that Arsenal game and looks to be getting to full fitness. Thought Assaidi was class and could be a proper bargain at 2.6M. Made up for the young lads as well.

Could be a tricky draw against Swansea but at least we're at home for a change. Chelsea-United could be a cracker but i expect Chelsea to put a stronger side out.

Severe bowel condition. Same thing that affected Sir Steve Redgrave at one point if my memory serves.

Also, weren't Arsenal selling tickets for a tenner? I'm sure that helped fill up the stadium.

Smart that, good way to get the numbers up for competitions like the COC.

Nope, only when Webb officiates a Man United match. BTW, there was no need to completely edit your original post.

Also,

John Terry found guilty of racial abuse and handed 4 match ban

The only thing surprising there is that the ban isn't longer, given how the FA are total dickwads. He won't be missing the Arsenal match though. I don't think Terry should appeal though. Just serve out the ban and put this sh*t to rest once and for all.

A lot of folk in here loving the COC.

Arsenal love COC, United love COC, we're surrounded by COC lovers, in fact haven't see this much COC loving since my last visit to the Blue Oyster Bar.

haha good one

anyway, I heard a good question from a mate of mine, one that 2 people here will probably get in like 10 seconds but here goes.

Can you name 6 players, who have played for manchester city whose surnames's begin and end with the same letter?

I have 4.

OT:

Hasn't JT already been charged with racism??  monocle.gif

by a court of law, this was an FA hearing.

Some people have said they should not charge him given the court case but they need to take into account there are different rules at play here, someone actually explained it very well I'll see if i can find it for you

edit: could not find it but this kinda covers it in a half decent way, edit 2: found one saying the same thing but clearer and better imo

Everyone complaining how the law courts found him not guilty and now the FA find him guilty need to understand what "burden of proof" means. Criminal law needs it to be "beyond reasonable doubt", any other civil hearing requires only to be on "balance of probabilities". Therefore there wasn't enough evidence for the criminal courts but was for the civil court. Quite simple really

also mentioned in the thing I intended to post (but could not find) was something about how the charges were slightly different - it is basicly legal mumbo jumbo, which does not really make sense to people outside/unfamiliar with the legal system and the law, someone who knows more about this kind of stuff will know more, like a lawyer or maybe a simple bureaucrat, I am neither. One thing i fail to comprehend at all is why tez got 4 when swez got 8

Uwe Rosler

Dennis Tueart

Kit Symons

Nicolas Anelka

George Hannah

Harry Dowd

Admittedly the last two are the hardest to get, especially George Hannah, wasn't that spectacular if reputation is correct.

There is a 7th... Dennis Wonderful-backheel-there-son-Law... granted it's a quintuple barreled surname but still counts.

As for the Terry thing, can't work out how the Legal Law threw the case out yet the FA find him guilty dontgetit.gif

premier league, as in last 20 years, barring that unfortunate spell where you were in lower leagues, if you have all players in history you would have like 25 players that would fit.

3 of them were in the premier league, Tueart, Dowd and Hannah were way way before, i did find the other 2 as well, one of them is a tricky bastard as he only played 1 game for youse in the prem, and as a bonus clue because I am nice, he has the same birthday as me (but several years older, the birthday on my profile is legit)

as for terry - slightly different charge, fa were accusing him of simply doing the deed, crown court had slightly different acusations as simply being racist or saying a racist comment is not illegal, if it were the EDL and BNP would have been locked up long ago, better this way cos i can kill those crunts (EDL and BNP, not terry, terry gets to live) myself, instead o some guy called mad ralph shanking one of them in the showers

aaaaanyway, can anyone name to other 3? premier league, the 6 played in the premier league, so players that played in division one but retired in 1960s don't count smile.gif can't make it too easy now

oops sorry, thought I did. smile.gif yep well done, I actally got a 7th, well a different 6th i did not get Tarnat so my mate may have got the question wrong or forgot about Nielsen as he made it seem like there were only 6 confused.gif, the goalie you released in 2012 after getting wright, played 1 game (Gunnar Nielsen) smile.gif knew either you or dommy would get that

Georgios Samaras

Wrong, his actual surname is Christ.

Well it's actually one of the following Sam Harris or Σαμαρασ

As for Nielsen, I always forget him probably cause I always thought he had a different first name and his surname was a double barrel affair as in Gunnar-Nielsen.

oh i thought it may be cos he played 1 motherloving game for you. nice to see you remember the fringe players too smile.gif I try to but fringe goalies are harder cos you pretty much never see em, I only know of sammy johnstone for us cos of football manager.

it's funny, I remember back in 1999, afther Schmeichel left our keeper who was number 2 to The great Dane Schmeichel, a man by the name of Raimond van der Gouw I think, spoke out about the signing of Taibi, saying that having 3 keepers is a bit much, look at now, most teams have 4, spurs have 4 keepers that could possibly get into other premier league starting XIs or a top championship starting XI at least. funny how fast that came about

Nope, just Howard Webb. No other referee has been so consistently biased as him. Everyone knows that he has some sort of a hard-on for Fergie/ManUtd.

You're missing my point. Yeah, Howard Webb comes across as being biased towards United, even I'll admit that, but you will always get people that complain about the choice of ref. For example, if Phil Dowd was the referee, I would be swearing and cursing because I can't stand the f*cking sight of him and he makes some pretty poor decisions imo. bored.gif
