I think the original badge was the central shield only. Cristiano Ronaldo was signed by Sporting as a 12yo, so there's a United connection there, but I can't find when the design was changed.

Ah right, although having looked at United's old badges, they all have that same style, just upgraded each time. Maybe Nacional thought it would bring them better luck, publicity etc.

I usually don't watch football these days but at the moment I watch my own country face England. It's 1-1 right now. As far as I remember England is one of those good football nations that Sweden has been pretty good against. But I only remember some matches so it's hard to say. Anyway if Sweden doesn't score any points today they're out!

Beast of a header from Big Andy, another great ball in from Stevie as well.

 

Pretty much conceding from two set pieces was shocking, you just thought typical England but at least we showed some nice fighting spirit in the attack to grab ourselves another two goals. Great touch from Wellbeck and have no how idea Walcott scored, keeper just nowhere.

 

Not to keen with Young and Milner on the wings, thought both had poor games, i would like to see Ox and Walcott again.

I thought Milner was doing alright, the only thing is that the support dropped off for him so he became less effective as he went on.

Yeah i suppose poor is a bit harsh but Milner did get less and less effective and Young just didn't seem to click tonight, was much better in the centre the other night.

 

With Roy deploying his two deep banks of four it's quite hard to get forward quick enough at times so maybe if we had two fast wingers as an outlet it would be easier when on the counter to get in behind the fullbacks. We are quite slow in attacking build up and that lets defences and midfields get back and settle.

If Podolski plays against Denmark tomorrow it would be his 100th game for Germany and he would be the youngest European international to reach this mark.

 

As for the England game yesterday: I'm really impressed. England were great once again and for the first time in years they also have a great goalkeeper in Joe Hart. England is the dark horse for me this year.

Well it was certainly not boring that's for sure. Great game for Walcott, I'm glad to see him on form again. He really saved us and was easily the man of the match for England. Actually that's a bit unfair on Gerrard, he had a great game as well, a peach of a cross for Carroll. Going to be interesting to see how we do with Rooney back for the next game.

 

And I'm really surprised to hear that about Podolski, I didn't think he was anywhere near his 100th cap for Germany.

Just the defence to worry about now. I was okay with everyone else. Gerrard upped his game too, was great last night, I am also loving Welbeck.

Not sure how I feel about Rooney being straight back in though?

Ashley Young was very poor last night and the defending for the two goals was appalling. I don't think Ukraine have enough to beat us even if we play that badly again, but getting any further than the quarter-finals would be out of the question. Fingers crossed Rooney coming back - and it'd make very little sense not to put him in the lineup for the Ukraine game - will pick the team up a bit.
