Seddo
Downing is far from slow, just depends if he's grown a set of balls in the recent months to start taking on the defenders more. Apparently Roy is going to go with Downing and Milner on the wings with Young and Wellbeck up top. Hearing that The OX might be starting instead of Downing, this would be excellent news. That would be much better for one of Milner or Downing then, he's lightning for the counter attack. Edited June 11, 2012 by Seddo
AnotherDave
Our midfield is our weak spot, I don't know how Hodgson can possibly justify picking downing to start over Ox- and why not call up Carrick? Milner is nothing special either, whats wrong with Adam Johnson? Carrick asked not to be considered for selection, which is why he wasn't considered. Downing shouldn't even be in the squad, let alone the starting XI. Why somebody like Adam Johnson or Matt Jarvis - who had a better season that Downing in a far worse team - wasn't picked instead makes little sense to me. As we have seen this year, Downing cannot cross a ball, nor score a goal. We have to attack, I am confident in our defenders and Gerrard going back to help out too. OchyGTA
So if it's Downing and Milner to start we can safely assume we're playing for the draw? I probably won't watch the match, we'll play sh*te football and I have exams tomorrow so should really be revising.

I'm not expecting for an exciting match either, never is with England playing at the moment. I take it it's a 17:00 (GMT) kick off?
Waddy
Lloris; Evra, Mexès, Rami, Debuchy; Diarra, Malouda, Cabaye; Ribéry, Nasri, Benzema. Damn. Not as confident seeing their line up.
Vercetti27
not bad, but certainly not the force they were back in '06 or '00. There is no reason why we can't beat them, I'm being serious, if they look at our eleven on paper they will be thinking the same thing.
AnotherDave
Mexes, Rami, Debuchy and Diarra can all be got at and Evra's best is behind him. France have had much better defences than the current group. Up front they look good though, Benzema, Ribery and Nasri are name's you'd rather not see on your opponent's team sheet and Valbuena's very capable too. All 'round, though, I don't see any reason to fear them.
Banks.
So happy that Chamberlain is starting instead of Downing. I'm going with 1-1. Welbeck to score for England and Nasri to score for France
A J
I hope Mexes plays, because he is a very poor defender, and if Ashley Young gets the ball and runs at him England could easily cause France problems. Hope Downing doesn't start for sure, but he could make a useful sub, when the french are tiring, put him on the wide, and if he finds space he could make a difference with his pace, and you never know he might even beat a player or find someone in the box like Carroll who would also give the French defenders plenty of trouble. Hope England win today, but not the whole tournament. I've predicted a France win, but judging by my predictions so far, England should win
Domeux
Either 2-0 or 2-1 to France I reckon.

Ari Gold
French totty shot was rather sub-par, to be honest; hopefully the cameramen's game can pick up over the next hour.

I somehow missed that totty shot. Camera Manager needs to have a word at half time. Great ball in from Stevie, should be 2-0 up by now, silly Milner. Seddo
I have a slight dislike for Nasri . And Joe, you should not be getting beat at your near post when you were practically stood next to it. At least we're not behind and at 1-1 the set up can still work. Sh*t, Alou Diarra, didn't realise that was the Diarra that was at Liverpool, must have been about 10 years ago now. Time flies too much. I can see Welbeck getting a good chance and taking it. Another good cross or a set piece from Gerrard may take it to 2-1. I'm still expecting a draw though. Seddo
Refs a bit sh*te, couple of fouls not given here and Diarra had about 3 meaty challenges in the first half without a yellow. Blatent body checks not given, either this ref has lost his whistle or he's going to get a right good noshing from Platini later on after a job well done.
