Phil Jones has basically been picked a head of Rio, Kelly is a right back, so effectively Kelly has been picked for back up to replace Jones who would have been back up right back. Apparently Richards didn't want to be on a back up list so that's why he hasn't been picked. I know i've said this about 5 times now haha but why wasn't Richards picked in the original 23 mans quad, something must be up.

 

Remind me what has Jones done to deserve an England call apart from sign for United? Had a good first few months for United then been pretty poor after that.

I'd rather have Ferdinand over Jones anyday and Richards should be in the main 23 man squad. Your going to call me a "biased fan" but I'd rather take Jones over Kelly....

Kelly is pretty much England's 5th choice RB so i'd rather take Jones over Kelly, Kelly has been injured a fair bit and his own form dipped at times. I don't even think any Liverpool players deserve a call up a part from Johnson (although he can lapse in defence at times, i feel it is a little exaggerated when commented upon), even Gerrard had a massive spell injured and had a number of poor games towards the end of the season.

 

Also just to add, Jones can be deployable as an extra DM if Roy need to go super ultra defensive. I think his utility in playing CB, RB and DM has been the reason Roy picked him over Rio.

Kelly is a good right back but the guy hes backed up all year is the guy thats starting at RB in Johnson. Plus Kelly making the squad has nothing to do with Rio and Terry its mainly because Walker is injured atm. Although i would take Micah Richards before Kelly but maybe Roy wants to give players experience in this tournament cos he knows we have no chance of winning the thing.

Richards played right-back in a title winning squad. Unlike Johnson, Jones, Smalling and Kelly he played consistently and did a decent job. It's a no brainer. I respect Hodgson has a philosophy wherein he needs certain players to do certain jobs but I just can't get my head around that one.

Whey, I can finally get on...

 

I hope Hazard plays sh*t for Chelsea too. He spent so long picking a club, I hope he relises/thinks he has chosen the wrong one. I can't see him staying there too long.

 

Also hoping the Kagawa deal will be a done deal soon. Part of me thinks that he won't come to United in the end.

The Hulk deal is going to take a few more weeks, but I expect it to be finalized too. So, all in all, we're looking pretty good on paper.

 

I'm not sure how consistently Marin is going to feature though. Some are saying that he's likely to start on the bench. I genuinely hope not.
