thats the sun you plonk. it is true he said he wants penalties scrapped but it is NOT because the english beat the germans for once (like the sun says) the sun jsut took the fact and thewn twisted it to their own needs. cos that headline will get people angry, and papers will fly off the shelves. whereas if they said THE REAL REASON why he wants penalties scrapped then Most people will be uncaring, as many get the sun for sports anyway.

 

He wants penalties scrapped cos zambia (or Nambia, can't remember which) beat ivory coast in the african cup of nations final. Ivory coast are seen as the best african side and dead certs for that trophy, they played better in the final but the underdogs held out and won on penalties which are just pot luck.

yawn. then they scored 8 in a row - one of the most dramatic shootout I have seen and th fact town missed the first 3 and won means nothing as to whether they are good or not. it is whether the team that were better won or not. like in the african cup the worse team won that shows that shootouts are not ok. but that was a true advert for shootouts where else do you get that kind of drama that kind of rapid change between shaking like a leaf -> elation -> devestation

 

I went from elation -> shaking like a leaf multiple times in that shootout, when hudds scored elation when united came back by scoring nervy again. 6 times in a row. that was the truest advert for shootouts there can be and the fact you don't think so shows you do not understnad shootouts, do not understand anything about this debate about them and sdo not understand football

for a fan they are hell (if your team is involved) if you are neutral they can be "pointless" but ewhen i am neutral i get some sadistic pleasure from them, when i am a fan of one of the teams... there is not an equivilent in sport for the nerves and drama
