To think at one point there was actually talk of Almunia getting English citizenry so he could play for us. One of the low points in English football. One of the many many low points. I also heard from my friend that Martin Kelly has been picked for the next England squad to play our next friendly (whoever that is I can't remember) is that true or is it just a cruel practical joke?

Kelly has been consistently solid for a long time now, can't remember his last poor game. It's deserved imo, and it's only a friendly anyway.

Just think, it's been 8 years since England have been in the euros. I'm actually fearing for Hodgson already, he's had one of the worst reactions by England fans for welcoming a new manager that I can think of. The guy's got no charisma, his press conferences have the atmosphere of a wake, everyone wanted Harry, his decisions so far have been pretty questionable and to top it off the tabloids have already jumped all over him. Things don't look good for him. If we have a bad game or two then I can unfortunately see people getting on his back.

I disagree. I find him to be insightful, well mannered and decent. Just because he isn't churning out tabloid-friendly quotes doesn't mean he isn't charismatic. I'm just waiting on the performance of the team. If they play well and lose, fair enough.

 

I'm thinking the team we have this time will be massively different to the one that turns up at Brazil in two years. He's using the players that helped qualify and who slot into the formation he wants. It is in friendlies and in World Cup qualifying that we will see him try new players and new ideas. He's hardly had the time to tinker.

I for one certainly didn't want Harry. I think he's a scumbag, theiving little sh*t and this whole 'people's champion' angle the tabloids have given him disgusts me. I don't respect Redknapp as a man or as a manager and I'm frankly delighted he's not going to represent England at the Euros.

So Barton is banned for 12 games, for elbowing, headbutting (nearly) and knee-ing a player, wanting to start a fight with Balotelli (bad idea) and then going on a public rant about other former players like Lineker and Shearer and not even hinting at an apology. And Di Canio all those years ago got 11 games for a little push on the referee (which a large meal was made of) with a swift apology after it.

 

Still I can't complain the boy got us 5 minutes to win the title.

Technically he only got an 8 game ban for his little incident, the extra 4 games were for the red and an extra game for a previous red during the season. Pretty lucky to only end up with 12 games in total.

re: Barton, always liked him because it always seemed like he was trying too hard and it came off as humorous - to me at least. I guess his twitter rampage was included in the ban as well seeing as it's fair game (ie Babel)

That's what I love about the Euros, any team can put in a good run and have a chance, as we've seen with Denmark and Greece in the last twenty years, and almost with the Czech Republic. Shame Belgium won't be present this summer, because they've got a hell of a team about them.

Hazard narrowed it down to 3: City, Chelsea and United.....I have to honest, I'd be worried if United got him. Although there is the potential for him to be a flop with all the expectation and the big price tag looming over him, I still think this guy's gonna be great in the EPL. Hopefully for the Citizens.

 

As for Kagawa, don't watch much German League football so I can't say much about him, but what I have heard from numerous reds is that United lack creativity in the midfield. Maybe this is the guy to sort it. Still think we'll be the team to beat next season.
