I wonder what will be the reason for this years failure...any ideas?

Split in the camp. Recently crowned European Cup winners Saint John and Saint Frank don't like being told what to do by Gary Neville. Apparently the England coach asked Saint Ashley to pick up the cones and the Chelsea duo took exception to their brother-in-arms being told what to do by a lesser being.

You have the ability to count the amount of attendees just by standing within the crowd? that's some skill that and all i have is a silly police report to go on tounge.gif.

The police report is an estimation the same way mine was, you think they counted each fan individually? lol.gif

Quite worried...heard Hazard is pushing for a utd move cryani.gif Hope this is just a rumour. Although saying that, last year I hoped for ashley young to come to us, glad that didn't happem.

Article about if its ok to celebrate next to a losing fan with the example of David Cameron and Angela Merkel. Kind of interesting but it looks way to deeply into the actual question. The answer=yes.

Meanwhile, Obama is thinking "oh sh*t, after this many hours it would only be half time in the NFL..."

In answer to the question, it depends on where and with how many opposing fans. I mean, if you're a United fan alone in a Liverpool bar surrounded by hundreds of drunken Scousers... you'd have to be pretty brave.

Lol @ the idea of winning a United-Liverpool match by the way. It's been their cup final of late. As well as all the actual cup finals that is.

If Drogba leaves (no way he should though, give the man what he wants) then that will mean Torres will become the main striker again, he does look quite sharp although not exactly back to his Liverpool days.

One of them has to go and it's probably going to be Drogba. Neither of them likes being sidelined to the bench and with age not on his side, Drogba has made it clear that he wants to leave.

Torres has also asked for a clarification as to what exactly his role is in the team. And he's going to get that main striker position only if Drogba isn't with us anymore (and assuming we don't buy another high value striker).

The problem with playing 433 is if you have 2 or more top quality strikers then there's invariably going to be someone unhappy because they're either not playing, or not playing as the main forward. And of course if you stick with only 1 top striker and have some lower quality back up who doesn't mind playing second fiddle, then when the top guy gets injured you're in trouble. It was perfect when we had Anelka as our 2nd striker because he could play as a winger, and although I'm sure he preferred to be the main striker he was happy to play as a winger. Then when Drogba was unavailable he could fill in for him as the main guy.

I think that's the sort of set up we need again. As much as I love Drogba we really need to let him go and have Torres as the main striker, then buy a top forward who can play as a winger and who doesn't mind playing there but when Torres is unavailable can fill in for him and have the quality to perform the role.

We have Sturridge who can be used as second fiddle, provided he's willing to. He's younger than Torres and can do with some experience whilst filling up the role of the main striker when Torres isn't available. Lukaku and Kakuta need to be developed in a similar vein. I don't know why Lukaku wasn't loaned out in January. Making him train with quality strikers isn't going to help him. He needs to get as much game time as possible or he might start losing confidence.

I think Lukaku will be really good for youse in the future, near or far.

Let's lob in a question or two.

If Torres wants to leave and Chelsea are willing to transfer him..

A) Where would you like to see him go?

B) Where do you actually think he will go?

If he was to be sold I'd want him to preferably go abroad, I really don't like selling players to rivals for obvious reasons. I don't really care where in particular or which league. I think he'd probably go back to spain, and almost certainly Barca or Real. I don't know if he'd go to Real considering he has strong ties to Atletico, so Barca would be the more likely I think. I think there's also a smaller outside chance he could go to one of the Milan clubs.

I could see him going to Malaga now they have arab money and they're becoming a promising spanish team. I'm not sure Atletico would want him.

A) A.Madrid, a big return. Plus he'd do better in that league I reckon.

B) Dundee United

I don't think he's going anywhere. Drogba is leaving, it's time for Torres to raise his game and become their main man.

At. Madrid are on about selling Falcao to make a tastey profit. Wouldn't make much sense to try and get Chelsea to sell one of their prize assets, it would be a bit redundant. Making a ton of money then spending it on a player who's already played his best years at the club.

Tasty profit? Atletico are selling him because they can't pay us. They'll profit no more than 10 million, tops, from the sale.

And those 10 million I mentioned are only if Chelsea goes bananas, as Roman is prone to.

If we end up with AVB and and have some money to burn and then magically somehow get Falcao interested to come to Liverpool and team back up then i would literally ruin 5 pair of undies.

Fixed. Or at least that's the way the club seems to be going. Nobody wants the Anfield hotseat!

if Falcao ended up at liverpool I think he'd end up ruining his own undies biggrin.gif

I'm in the curious position of looking forward to the Euros this year, with Hodgson at the helm its going to be a hell of a ride. Expectations are down but I expect this to have a positive effect on the squad.

Today also marks the end of an era, today Manuel Almunia was released from Arsenal . He was largely a total calamity mocked by his own, but I'll remember this forever: inlove.gif

Haha, actually lol'd biggrin.gif.

Wouldn't surprise me if half of the rumoured targets haven't even been approached. Guaranteed to be either AVB or Martinez.

I've applied and with my many years of Championship/Football Manager experience, i'm at least worth an interview, i've not had a response back yet but with my tactics and future planning then FSG should be impressed. A lil example.

*insert top team here* appoints Player 1 as manager.

*insert world class player here* is transfer listed.

Liverpool sign *world class player* for £1M

Player 1 resigns.

I'm certain i can deliver the title in my first year smile.gif.

To be honest he wasn't the best Goal Keeper, I don't think Aluminium or whatever he's called had the metal.

It seems he's not the only one getting released, it's a freebie market today for players available. There's Drogba, Hargreaves, Gordon, a swathe from Bolton. Some clubs could probably pick up a few bargains this summer.

To think at one point there was actually talk of Almunia getting English citizenry so he could play for us. One of the low points in English football. One of the many many low points. I also heard from my friend that Martin Kelly has been picked for the next England squad to play our next friendly (whoever that is I can't remember) is that true or is it just a cruel practical joke?

Who do we fancy for the Euros then?

Germany all the way. Had to laugh at Four Four Two's suggestion that England would win.

Correct.

I'm going for Spain to retain their title.

Wasn't Arteta also possible to apply for an English citizenship?

As for Kelly i believe a few young England players have been called up for the friendly because the 3 Chelsea defenders have been given extra time off due to playing in the CL final. Still have got no idea why Richards hasn't even been called up for the friendly.

@Straz, Germany for me, i believe Villa will deffo miss the Euro's, quite the blow for the Spanish.

Spain are too fragmented for definite. The German team we saw at the WC were boys, and look how they performed. Two years down the line, I think they'll be unstoppable.

People are writing off the Spaniards because they've endured a tough season and will not start the European campaign with a fully fit and rested squad. But there are some damn good players and some proven winners in that squad. And del Bosque will want to add the European Championship to his trophy haul.

It really depends on which new players he introduces to the squad and how they perform alongside the veterans. Whatever way you look at it, the Spain team will still be the one to beat this summer. Given how every player will be familar with the system and have had a lot of success at their respective clubs, whatever team shows up will be a tough one to beat. I'd personally go:

.................Casillas...............

...........................................

...Ramos..Pique..Puyol..Alba...

...........................................

.....Busquets...Xabi Alonso......

...........................................

......Iniesta.....Xavi.....Silva.....

............................................

..................Soldado...............

You have the captain, three massively experienced winners at the back with an exceptional youngster in Alba. A destroyer and a world class defensive playmaker in front of the back four, an attacking triumvirate with a standout City performer added in and a striker who's notched up 17 league goals this season and is in a much better position to start than Torres and (obviously) Villa.

But we'll see.

Edit: You know, you just have to look at that lineup and then look at the lineup I proposed for England:

........................Hart........................

......................................................

...Johnson...Lescott...Terry.....Cole.....

.......................................................

...............Parker........Barry..............

.......................................................

...Oxlade........Gerrard...........Young...

.......................................................

.....................Welbeck......................

...and you realise how f*cked we are this summer! tounge.gif

Was reading about the Italian side earlier, can't remember the journos name though. He was suggesting they should mimic Juve and go 3-5-2. Either way, that team even looked more intimidating with Cassano and Di Natale up top. Throw in the Germans and the resurgent French... why do we even bother?

Kelly has been consistently solid for a long time now, can't remember his last poor game. It's deserved imo, and it's only a friendly anyway. Regardless, it's not exactly a bold prediction to state England's high rating on the "f*cked" meter, especially with the Hodgson in charge.

It will be down to Holland or Germany I'd reckon.

I'm predicting England won't even make it out of the group (bold prediction, I know). Obvious contenders are Germany and Holland, but I'm thinking, optimistically, that France could even make an impact orly.gif if the players show up for the games, they've got a pretty solid team all around.
