Richards can play all along the back line, he would have made a perfect player to go.

Makes you think there is more to picking an England team, Liverpool are one of the most supported clubs in the world so it makes sense to get their players in the team, just like Utd, Chelsea and City. Probably all revolves around sponsors and other revenues.

Roy said he picked the team out of football, which a blind man can see is total bollocks so there must be more to it. We need to field players for the Olympics too dont forget.

a plan under kenny? going by his interviews his plan was to aim for top ten in the league every year and league cup triumph, he always sounded so pleased with this seasons achievements.

I would actually enjoy a Rafa return, stir up some history with SAF and his interviews are legendary, so many fachts icon14.gif

Hmm I'm not sure about your cynical view that he picked them based on sponsors Waddy, although maybe a certain bias towards his former club could be at play. Who outside of the big 5 or 6 would you really say deserves a place in the squad anyways? Jagielka maybe, although he's hardly been that great this season. Who cares about the olympics anyways? You seriously think the FA would lean on Hodgson to tell him to "save some for the olympics"?

Rules of the Olympics is mainly 'Kids' anyway. Well I say kids it's like under 21 except a couple who can be older or some b0llocks like that.

I just hope they don't pick some flavour-of-the-month sh*te, that's what got us f*cking Woy.

Either way, I'm disappointed in FSG. I know they're ruthless kind of owners who aren't afraid to change something if it isn't blatantly working, but I think we were actually starting to have a plan under Kenny. It doesn't take much to tip the balance, now we have to start all over again.

Woy, whos league record was better than Kennys?

How can you still have faith in how Kenny managed your club? The new owners gave him whatever he asked for right? They put their full trust in him to spend their 120million, he bought 3 of the biggest failures in prem history? They wanted to have a top CL side, which to be fair 120m should buy you before they get stuck into the stadium from the CL revenue season after season, you are in Europe next season thanks to winning the Carling cup against a CC side which went to penalties. You won 6 home games or something? What? How is that the fault of the owners? Any of it?

Also, what f*cking plan???? You finished 8th in the league 37 points off the top 2 clubs...Was it a longer term plan? did he spend 120million on players who wont be any good for another few years? They all should have been able to fit into any side in the world at those prices, and you would rather have him spending the same again? Wouldnt have been so bad if you were competing atleast with Spurs and Newcastle but they were miles away too spending a fraction of what LFC spent. So please, tell me why this plan of yours was starting to work?

Football is a business and business have to do well, and they have to have people who atleast have a slight understanding of being able to manage a club, that was not kenny. Winning the Carling Cup and getting into the final of the FA Cup will probably earn you 6million, and when the outgoings were 120million, the business owners have done well to last this long without getting rid of the worst manager Liverpool have ever had. Yes, a legend in his playing days, one of the best players on the planet...now he will be known as the worst manager.

Waddy, you're beginning to sound like a broken record. For the umpteenth I'm not here to convince you Dalglish is the greatest manager in the world, he's made mistakes I don't think any LFC fan will deny that. When I say "an actual plan" I mean we're playing good, positive football, compared to Woy. We have nearly all season long, yet we've somehow ended up in 8th. We won the Carling Cup and could have done the FA Cup as well.

It takes a real ignorant blind pleb to think that Liverpool haven't played better football and have a sense of direction under Kenny, unfortunately we're missing the few signings to actually turn the good football into results. Yes, some of his summer signings were poor (or more specifically, the fee paid for the players. But Kenny doesn't negotiate fees), but I'd still keep all of them bar Downing and Adam. It doesn't take much to tip the balance, you know. If we can get a good winger and a clinical finisher we'd be up there at the top, no doubt.

In any regard, the new manager will be our 4th in nearly 2 years. Let's stick with a direction, aye?

Also, please stop defending Hodgson, he was out of his depth and his plan (or lack thereof) just didn't work at LFC. The fans hated him, he had no control of the dressing room, he deployed the worst football tactics I've ever witnessed. He nearly forced our two key players, Lucas and Agger, out of the club, while tapping up Carlton Cole and Christian Poulsen. Yes, patience is a good thing with managers, but it isn't hard to tell when it just isn't working.

You just know that whoever replaces Dalglish will not be given time if things don't immediately turn around. Brendan Rodgers has an astute head on his shoulders but is he ready to move to a club with the demands of Liverpool? Likewise Martinez? I don't see it. It's like Gary Neville said on Sky other day, Liverpool is a hard club to stay at if you aren't "one of them".

Either way this is all very funny.

Like Killa said, one thing they don't need is a another 'flavour-of-the-month' manager. That's exactly what's not been working for them.

Bring in a manager with a proven track record at the club level, give him some time, and go from there. Last I heard Fabio Capello was quite settled in England, albeit in London, and was rather open to the opportunity of taking the reigns at an English club. Say what you want about his short-lived England tenure, but the guy knows how to win trophies with clubs, and I honestly think he could be just the remedy that Liverpool is seeking.

Capello would cost a f*cking fortune but he would command the respect of the players. But oh my f*cking God, imagine the dressing room; an Italian who's crap at speaking English and a bunch of Scousers la. There's a comedy sketch in there.

Martinez is hardly flavour of the month. He's kept Wigan up for a bunch of seasons on a budget that can barely be called shoestring. Playing damn good football too. Give him a sizeable budget, a workable crop of players (there's some undoubted quality in amongst the Liverpool ranks) and the top class facilities at Melwood and who knows what he could achieve.

Ditto Rodgers. I read an interesting article on him the other day; there's a man who is a proper student of the game. The things he's achieved at Swansea (who use a local health club as a training ground ffs) are dicronculous.

Two managers with massive ambition and a real respect for how the game should be played. But as I say, I doubt the Kop would give them the time if results weren't immediate.

Unless its Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho then I doubt anyone else will do for the fans. Realistic as always.

AVB is being touted about too, I dont think that would be a bad call to be honest. In some ways back to basics for the club and take a lesser known manager might allow them to get on with it without headlines week in and week out.

Looking like the RVP talks with Arsenal went bad yesterday, Man utd now showing interest too, 25m being banded about. I still think he will go to City though. Why Arsenal wont just say "What do you need?" then agree to ANYTHING he says is just stupid. He is one of the best players in the world...

Also, the FA confirmed that Carrick had put himself out of the Euros, he would have been picked.

If we sign RVP, it will be one of the best signing's Sir Alex has ever done. Can you imagine RVP and Rooney up front inlove.gif

I wonder why Carrick didn't want to play in the Euros. It could be because he is focusing on his career at United and wants a rest in the summer.

I doubt he'd go to either manc clubs, if he's off he's leaving england . For the record I think he won't sign a new contract but he won't be allowed to leave

Arsenal will take the 25million now at the risk of getting nothing for him in a year and playing an unhappy player. If the player wants to leave then they will let him go. He will decide where and reports City offering him a 250k a week deal so other clubs will have to match it to snag him.

I just think he would be happy at Arsenal if they could pay him what he thinks hes worth, I would be pulling out ALL the stops to get him signed, I dont care how much it takes. when he signs a new contract hes worth 60million anyway!

Also, The Liverpool owners are taking 'active steps' to sell LFC.

Manchester United are not offering Michael Owen a new contract!

I have a lot of respect for Owen and I wish him luck. He scored some vital goals, shame his injuries have gotten the better of him. Will never forget the day we signed him and when he scored that goal against City at OT. Thanks very much Owen icon14.gif

This means Sir Alex will sign a new striker (please sign RVP biggrin.gif)

I highly doubt we would sign RVP, he'll probably cost too much and Ferguson likes to bring in younger strikers and develop them.

If RVP doesn't sign a contract there is no way Arsenal will keep him for another year and let him go for nowt, he will defo go this summer so they can get a decent fee for him. He may be settled in England now and with City possibly getting rid of 2-3 strikers then he could very well be on the radar.

I don't think Liverpool will sign another manager in their 60's, probably go looking for a younger manager. This job is getting worse than the poison chalice that is the England job.

Welcome to the end of Michael Owen's promise.

Sad really. Could've been a real great.

As for RVP, I feel we should throw everything we have at him. Sure he was tired towards the end of the season when we had the likes of Rosicky, Arteta, Theo etc picking up their game but he single handedly dragged us up to third. Without him we'd be around Liverpool level.

It's not like we haven't got money sitting around thanks to Cesc and Samir.

With Berbatov and Owen leaving and, more importantly, the big blue shadow that's being cast over the top of the league, going for van Persie - a proven Premier League striker who's almost guaranteed to make an impact - might well be a better option than going for a Robert Lewandowski or similar, who is younger, but doesn't have the league experience. Plus Welbeck is only 21 and Hernandez 23.

Liverpool are going to get relegated. You heard it here first!

They are in a downward spiral of not being in the CL, therefore not being able to attract players to get them into the CL.

Villas-Boas would be a disaster.

I highly doubt Wenger would see him leave to United, unfortunately. He would make a killer new number 7 though.

I'm sure Wenger wouldn't be too pleased about it, but if van Persie decides he wants out and to be at Old Trafford there's not a lot he could do, as was the case with Adebayor, Toure and Nasri going to City.

Having said that, I don't know how much is in these rumours. There's been talk of Fergie sniffing around RvP for a couple of months, but that could just be pot stirring.

Liverpool will come back from this, it was just bad luck today . King Kenny will guide them towards DOMINATION. watch out city, you haven't come up against Spearing yet

I thought you were an Arsenal fan?

He's absolutely sh*tting himself because the Arse are dropping out of Europe next season like we have just recently and it's going to be a long struggle to get back into it.

What other reasons is there to comment with the same bullsh*t after every game?

We twatted Stoke this afternoon, i say this every week but wank finishing and sh*te refs lost us the game. Still Stoke defended amazingly and really frustrated us.

just found this little gem in here.

biggrin.gif You know what i was actually thinking about that earlier.

I thought Arsenal would actually drop out but i was trying to be dead wumish about it. For someone who 90% of Arse fans wanted out, Wenger has done a fantatsic job in turning it around.
