Can anyone remember a better prem season than this? Now can Man utd do what they have done before and bounce straight back? Rumoured they have 100m to spend if they want it?

I doubt there's ever been a season like it. '89 had a comparable finish, but this one was full of drama all te way thru. Wigan Swansea Norwich Newcastle all played good football and then there were the local rivalries, champions league spots and relegation battles.

Arsenal winning the title unbeaten was a better season.

(for me anyway)

Well you know, you could like, elaborate? - EDIT: You just did

I'd say I can't remember one as memorable as this, not just because of today (yes, yes, yes) but it's been everything else the ups and downs, off the pitch goings on, near tragedies on the pitch, bad medical news off the pitch, extraordinary results all round, international footballing events and probably a lot more besides.

Next season would have a lot to live up to, if it is to surpass this one.

I don't even like football anyway.

Congratulations to City.

Didn't want a 20th anyway lol whatsthat.gif

I woke up this morning certain City would make easy work of QPR. They fudged up, I dared to hope, and that's what nearly killed me. I feel pretty sh*tty but can take some very meagre consolation from City's celebratory shirts - sporting the '12 number, because 3 is too embarrassing.

Just seen this on the MEN website, we really should be thanking Barton.

Ironically, Barton's disgraceful display provided the extra minutes on the 90 for us to win the game. JUSTICE prevailed!

Not the first time and he's had chance after chance at clubs.

Elbows Tevez, Knee's Aguero, Headbutts Kompany and then tries it with Balotelli. What a complete nutter, doesn't deserve the talent or lifesytle he's got. Although to be fair Tevez had a little kick at him but it didn't look much, no excuse to mental like that though.

Can see a lengthy ban coming for him.

Well done City for buying the title, oh but wait I suppose you deserve it because you waited x amount of years. Whatever its sad that that only team has been able to get the better of us without the use of undeserved riches. Is this what you really wanted people? Our games just descended into billionaire Monopoly. How long will it before some even richer comes along and injects huge amounts into another club and they become successful. This is what the people want and they've evidently showed it. f*cking Barton as well, I should have known he try something, secret f*cking city fan. £200 million gets you the Premiership title on goal difference against a side in transistion and with one of the worst injury crises in years? ok. Lets all applaud the fact that spending a sh*t load of money just about gets you the title.

f*cking Blue moon, f*ck off.

Well that's..interesting. Aguero and Tevez could pay him a visit with a bouquet of flowers to say thanks smile.gif

Honestly, the FA ought to just set an example and ban him for 19 matches. Such malicious behavior has no place in the game. Missing half a season can have a major impact on players' careers and it will give them something to think about before resorting to violence.

On another note, our fantasy league has come to a close and Eddie Butler has effectively kicked everybody's ass by a margin of +100 points. Take a bow, son. I had a rather pitiful season across my other leagues but managed to place 4th in this one. Doesn't say much for the competition 'round here tounge.gif

yes,the years of arsenal domination were amazing, much more competitive. This season was good for the interesting end, but if we speak about the quality of the game was a pure garbage.

What an emotional day, deffo the best end to a season, Arsenal's unbeaten run season was good but was nowhere near as exciting as this one. Everton done me proud today, come on blue men!

United's income has killed the rest of the league for the past 15 years, they've conquered the market extremely well. It's only the Glazer's debt level that has stopped United investing even more money in the team over the past few years and maybe competing even better than they already can. Don't act like United have not spent any money and have been run on pennys.

Granted City have spent about 10 seasons worth of money in 3 seasons but they were also miles behind United in the first place.

@OptaSeddo: 0 - The number of City fans that are arsed about money spent after their league win. Jovial.

After watching Match of the Day, I believe that if Carroll doesn't get selected for the Euro 2012 squad then he's strongly tipped to take part in the GB Judo team for the London 2012's

We have money because of our success. Makes sense. We're not owned by rich sugar daddies, our income is actually generated by the club and the brand that is Man United. We've been fortunate to have such a good manager and squad to get ourselves into this position. Its just the same way Liverpool were able to attract big talent in the 80s because they were the best at the time. Pre-Sheik days what had City achieved? very little. At least Chelsea looked to be on the up even before Abramovich.

I actually miss the old days of Arsenal, at least we were actually beat fairly and squarely those times. Never thought I'd say that.

If it's anywhere near the same Bayern team that showed up in the DfB Pokal final, Chelsea will be huge favourites. Think Dortmund are better than Chelsea though tounge.gif .

Also some kewl fax: Man City last won the title 44 years ago. Yesterday Sergio Aguero won the title with the 44th attempt on goal of the match. cool story bro.

Congrats Man City. f*cking lol @ Man United.

I was actually thinking that at work last night. The only team to have beaten United to the premiership without Big Money is Arsenal. Blackburn, Chelsea and now City have all won it with the aid of money from outside the club.

Oh well, I'm sure United will be back all the stronger for it next season.

So what happens if Man Utd spend 100m on new players this transfer window and win the title next year? Is that buying the title too?

Man Utd have been well managed which is the main part of their success, the side this season has been one of the worst but still done really well. Mancini has taken his time but he finally has 100% support from his players and the respect he deserves, thats what won them the title. You say bought the title, thats stupid IMO, just sour grapes. As a neutral its been a blinding season for us, the ups and the downs, its exactly how it should be. Chelsea have spent fortunes, so have Liverpool but they havent won the title, I mean sh*t...Carroll, Downing and Henderson or Aguero, Silva and Tevez? Price is the same ish? A no brainer.

Its down to the manager not the money spent on players. Mourinho when Chelsea won it was amazing. Look how long it took City to get the right balance, look at the money wasted on players they got rid of, now they have the right mix, a team of players who WANT to play for the club and not just the money, maybe apart from Tevez.

So when does buying the title bollocks stop? How many do they have to win before it because I reckon they will be up there for a few years to come. Manchester Utd got their money from revenue? Good for them, still has NOTHING to do with anything, check out how much they have wasted on players over the years, City are still way off spending that kind of money.

Manchester City's starting line-up: 161 million pounds.

Manchester United's starting XI: 169 million pounds.

I don't see it as 'buying the title'. Clubs buy players who win titles. A manager has to choose the right players to fit his style of football, and then keep it all headed in the right direction, physically and psychologically. You can't literally buy the title. Winning the league is the equivalent of winning a marathon; you can't buy the finish line. Everyone runs the same distance.

The City game did have some sort of 'fixed' feeling about it, with City scoring two last-minute goals for the title and whatnot..

It was a sh*t appointment in the first place that the fans didn't want, no idea why Lerner went ahead with it. No doubt the loss of Young and Downing hasn't helped the club and also the early season ending injury of Bent had been a massive blow but they have been very poor all season.

Isn't your Twitter ITK saying Heskey might be off to Rangers?

I'd take a punt on them going down next year..

What a crazy season finale eh? So glad Arsenal finished 3rd, means I don't need to go buy a Bavarian flag, though I will still be supporting Bayern next weekend.

Who wants who in the playoff final? I'd like to see either. Holloway is awesome to have back in the Premier League and The Hammers are yet another London team for me to cheer.

City's squad cost less yet De Jong, Milner, Dzeko and Kolarov have a combined worth of about 83 million (these players were on the bench). Its just convenient on that day that United played a starting XI that cost more. In fact if Kolarov had played instead of Clichy, City's line up would have been worth more. If you look across the rest of the squad the number becomes a lot higher for the City side. Yet people want to use this irrelevant fact to try to justify City's win.

Justify City's title? Why? They won. End of story. Teams deploy a range of strategies to win the PL every year. City's strategy was to invest in players that would win them the title. So, they did and won it. I don't see why it's so difficult for you to grasp your head around that. Oh right, you're a ManU fan. turn.gif
