I actually support these kind of things. Not because of the huge amounts of money, but because good footballers will be scattered around a wast majority of clubs (I hope), not just concentrated in six different ones, with their talents being wasted. It also doesn't hurt seeing new faces in the CL knockout stage.

If Arsenal get their finger out and make sure that they spend the sixty million, from the combined transfers of Nadri and Fabregas, wisely on three or four world-class players, then they will do something this season. However, if Wenger insists on only spending twenty or-so milion, they will not. I love United's group. Basel and Otelul should be easy pickings. Benfica aren't gonna be pushovers, but United should be winning this group.

 

Group A is the most interesting of the bunch. Man City and Bayern have the star power to go through but Napoli and Villareal are also dangerous teams. This group is a toss-up.

 

Arsenal should also progress in their group, considering all the problems they have. Dortmund will probably join them.

I had to share this. I saw it all happen during the game itself but when you see it repeated it unveils its true form.

I do think Mourinho had a point after this game took place when he said that Barcelona are given special treatment. I dont want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but i'm sure its the same with Man United aswell. Favouritism amongst referee's has no place in football.

 

Barcelona are supposed to be the best team in the world but what kind of example are they setting for the future generations. Diving needs to be stopped, turn it into a red card offence. Have the officials look at video technology if they are unsure over a decision. Give a f*ck if it slows the game down slightly, its worth it as it makes the game fair. This means winning actually has some significance. In my opinion, every game to ever have been played is void... although very entertaining .

I agree something needs to be done about the diving, but Mourinho isn't an innocent angel who happens to be the victim. Gouging Barca's assistant managers eye was just as childish as the diving itself. At least it's entertaining

I didn't mean it to say that only Barca and Man United players dive but they seem to get away with it the most at the most crucial times. I know Mourinho isn't an angel and he manipulates the rules as much as he can but I do think he had a point to some degree, despite his recent eye-poking antics .

 

I suppose I am a little bias in my opinion seeing as I dont particulary like both of the teams I mentioned but the primary motive for me saying this and posting that video is to point out how bad the cheating is. That was in a champions league semi-final if I remember correctly. All teams should be punished for cheating. Like I said, favouritism has no place in refereeing football.

Not being biased here, but Barca dive a lot more than United - they regularly employ it as a mainstay of there tactics alongside group pressuring the ref. Can't really compare the level of diving in Spanish football to England (or most of Europa for that matter). And Barca getting away with it is common now, (vs Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Inter etc) the list goes on for their despicable acting.

I don't know why Manchester City don't just sell Adebayor instead of loaning him, Mancini has made it apparent that he has no future with the club.

 

Barcelona and Manchester United are veterans at diving although I only see Nani diving at United these days, they really do need goal line techonology in football. I don't see how it will slow the game down significally, computers can detect whether a goal pased the line or whether a player has died in a matter of seconds.

 

Do any of you guys reckon Arsene will spend any money?
