cactus.
Crikey, Liverpool on a flyer. We have started quite slow, i'm pretty worried here, especially with our away form and all. Would you dare say that Liverpool have become a better team sans Gerrard? I'm devastated already, though. I have Hangeland on my fantasy team, and I can now kiss any possible points from him goodbye. @Waddy, I have a sneaky suspicion that you are David Yates (in the fantasy league), are you not? SilentSeas
Football rivalry at its best: BLACKPOOL fans enjoyed a laugh at their arch-rivals with an aeroplane stunt over Preston North End’s Deepdale ground.Saturday’s match saw a light aircraft fly over PNE’s stadium trailing a gloating message about their relegation to League One. After the game, Preston boss Phil Brown hit out at those behind the stunt and said he wanted to “shoot down” the plane as it circled overhead. The banner read: “We are superior love Blackpool FC.” Later in the match the plane reappeared with a message reading: “Poor little Preston enjoy League One.” Brown, an ex-Seasiders player and assistant manager, said: “Seriously if I had a gun I would have shot the plane down. Arrest me now if you want.” It’s not known who was responsible for the stunt. Blackpool Supporters’ Association chairman Glenn Bowley said: “I think it’s just banter, it’s part of the friendly rivalry between the two teams. “They put banners on the M55 when we went to Wembley last year. I don’t know who came up with it but I think Phil Brown needs to get a sense of humour.” Link
Flesh-n-Bone
Cheating? I see no cheating in diving. It's all football, everyone dives. To me it's just a clever way of getting free kicks and making your opponents get cards. You can't be a fan of football and seriously believe what you just wrote. It may be clever (and cheap) ways to get what you are out for but it's cheating cause you are not actually injured in the way you act or there has been no contact between you and the other player for you to roll around on the ground. I used to think like this and never mind diving but let it happen to your favorite team and you'll no longer have the same mind state. All the Barcelona and referee team work drama goes all the way back to when Anders Frisk was forced to retire. Mourinho doesn't exactly have a friendly history with Barcelona and it's the third team where all this drama has carried on to! There's no way you should be able to get away with acting and laying all around just to waste time as Barcelona did on the second leg. The only remaining hope is that United stop this bullsh*t and put things in check.
Seddo
Would you dare say that Liverpool have become a better team sans Gerrard? There's always been a little debate whether Liverpool play better without Gerrard. When he's on the pitch the players always seem to look for him but when he's not on the pitch the other players take things into their own hands. I'd still rather have him on the pitch than in the stands though. @02fishera, quality that.
The Killa
I definitely wouldn't say Liverpool is better without Gerrard. He should still be one of the first names on the teamsheet. It just goes to show, as he said himself, we're not a 1 or 2 man team anymore. We're missing 3 key players in Agger, Carroll, and Gerrard and we're still performing well without them. Not that one shouldn't give credit to the likes of Flanagan, Robinson, Spearing and Shelvey who have done very well to replace such players. Spearing has been excellent in Gerrard's absence and he's showing us his true potential. What a pass from Shelvey for Suarez's goal. And we still have such players as Suso, Raheem Sterling, Toni Silva, and Morgan among many who are all very highly rated. The future looks bright, that's for sure. Der_Don
Sahin is offically off to Madrid after this season. He's got a contract till 2017. RM pay us about 10 mio € in the end. How someone can say that it's his dream to play CL with Dortmund and then immediately leaves the club as soon as Real Madrid shows up, is totally beyond me. Will be interesting to see how the Südtribüne is going to react next Saturday. Edited May 10, 2011 by Der_Don

He wants to advance his career instead of being stuck at a lower club? you can't blame the guy for not turning down the biggest club in the world. He could've stayed for at least one more season. Everbody was expecting him to go to a bigger club one day. But in April, regarding his possible move to Madrid, he said something like this: "The fans already know my decision. I love Borussia Dortmund." So everyone was assuming he'd stay. He should've said it right away that he's going to leave us. This, and the fact that he's leaving for half the price he's actually worth, makes me sick.
Seddo
How many center midfielders do Madrid want? I don't believe he's going to get much game time and he'll be on the bench most of the time. Just look at Affelay's move to Barca, stuck on the bench as well. He should have stayed for at least one more season at Dortmund and see how far they can get in the Champions League with his help. flitcroft101
Madrid don't have a force that moves forward at the minute. Ozil is source of everything for Madrid at this moment in time and they need more because he goes to sleep against big teams. The current Madrid MF is weak as hell... Granero Diarra Gago Kaka Alonso Canales Ozil Khedria Unless Mourinho goes off into selling mode I see no way Sahin will fit in at Real Madrid I dunno, I think it's incredibly disrespectful towards Dortmund. And they already have Khedira and Alonso who both play this position. You cannot compare Sahin and Özil at all. They're totally different players. Whatever. I hope it's not going to be nasty on Saturday and I wish him all the best in Spain. @Joseph: Yup, it didn't look too bad for Pauli mid-season though. But their latest "performances" were terrible. 1-8 at home against Bayern is ridicolous.

They're trying to build a team that can attack but still hold strong and it's vital to get better players in. Mourinho plays on tactics, Madrid play on brute force, Mourinho is trying to a build a team where he can win with tactics.

Yup, I can't see them making it far. Actually, I think they might, that's if they go on a summer transfer spending spree, which I'm sure they are, because they are Man City, the team that bought their way here in the first place! But as a United fan, I hope they don't make it to the group stage at all. Funny that it was Peter Crouch who scored to put Spurs in the CL last year, now Crouch scores to put City in the CL. The Killa
Man City will probably spend big on another four egotistical footballers and they'll still achieve nearly f*ck all. And I'm sure Spurs will spend big on a striker like they tried to in January. I just absolutely loathe both teams, really. I don't understand the praise Harry gets. I'm quite certain Liverpool were at least 22~ points behind Spurs and now we have the hypothetical yet likely chance of finishing 5 points ahead. Either Harry is a sh*t manager or King Kenny is really good. I'll go with both.

Napoli have some real talent in their team. Players like Hamsik, Cavani and Maggio to name a few. Would have loved for them to win Serie A. Have relatives from around the area so always had a soft spot for them. And the fact they had the greatest ever football player in history play for them helps . Like SIKKS said, three CL spots. If Udinese stay fourth, they'll still get to play in Europe, albeit Europa League. Not sure if it'll happen though. By the looks of things Lazio seem most likely of sneaking fourth (well should anyway, looking at who they've got coming up).
