MyDog
I don't think Scholes will start. Fergie usually puts O'Shea in the team for height, but he gave such a mature performance last night he might be picked. Fabio is favourite to start tho, as Rafa isn't 100%. How I'd play it: 4-5-1. Pack the middle and hit them on the counter. Should even be able to keep the ball with that team. That is 4-2-3-1, not 4-5-1.
Josh
If you want to be pedantic, pick something which you can be pedantic about. 2 wingers, 1 Central Playmaker and 2 Defensive Midfielders make it a 4-5-1. If you can describe the players position as a "midfield" position then they should be placed in the midfield section. I don't agree with allocating numbers based on lines anyway because the notation of formations is supposed to tell you at a glance how many midfielders, defenders and and forwards you have on the pitch. All formations which can be described in different ways generally have special names...
SIKKS66
I have a feeling he's gonna drop Hernandez and play Fletcher if the Scotsman is fit. Pack that midfield tighter than a camel's ass in a sandstorm, give none of their creative players who position themselves centrally- Xavi, Iniesta, Messi- room to breathe. Then hope we can hit Barca on the counter with Valencia, Nani, Giggs and Rooney combining to create something. If things get desperate, who better to bring on in the later stages of a game than Chicharito? Oh man, I can't f*cking wait for this game. I feel like we're being spoiled with all these finals- this is now the fourth in my lifetime- so I'm gonna make sure to soak it all up, win or lose. The Killa
Aren't United fans excited about reaching the final? The noise I heard after the final whistle yesterday was something akin to winning against Wigan away. Either that or my TV sound is f*cked. I'll assume it's the latter. Congrats to United, however. Despite being called average they're a great side, cannot dent that. Doesn't mean I want them to even come close to lifting that trophy, however. Also, Nuri Sahin has supposedly agreed a 5m transfer to Real Madrid. What an awful decision. Edited May 5, 2011 by The Killa
Seddo
Also, Nuri Sahin has supposedly agreed a 5m transfer to Real Madrid. What an awful decision. What a divvy, he should have a chat with Afellay before making his move. That's a bargain as well, and what is with German clubs letting contracts running dry and then selling on the cheap. Der_Don
Also, Nuri Sahin has supposedly agreed a 5m transfer to Real Madrid. What an awful decision. It's a shame really. Our best player leaves us for about 6 mio € (should've been atleast 20 mio). He joined the BVB-youth academy in 2001 and I thought he would at least play another season with us. He was just about to become a legend here. Still, good luck over there Nuri. EDIT: 1 - 0 Villarreal
Seddo
So... who wins? Benfica or Braga? Benfica I hope, I want to see a final with Porto. Villarreal split Porto's defence with ease once again and scored, only need 3 more now .

Seddo
I said last week poor decisions and finishing lost Villarreal the game and what does Rossi do then? the easiest ball ever to square across the goal to make it 2-0 and he shoots with a ridiculous angle. Porto will eventually go through as i feel Villarreal may have left themselves to much to do but like Josh said they will run Porto close and being Brittish has nothing to do with it. See Falcao accidentally kick that Villarreal player in the nuts? .

See Falcao accidentally kick that Villarreal player in the nuts? . They're supposed to. They're a great team, and they've come as far as Porto. The British is a whole different issue. You guys have an amazing league. It's normal that you focus so much on your own games. I would to. But it gets ridiculous. British football fans are notorious for underestimating foreign teams. Hell, when Van der Vart arrived in Tottenham from Real Madrid, he was asked if he played in such a club or league of that quality. That must've hurt. Also, tied already. And your defence is totally awful, it's just lucky that Villareal can't make the correct decision in the box. You've equalised now so the game is up but before going on judgements made watching the first leg anything was possible because neither team could play the offside trap correctly. It was just lucky that you took your chances. EDIT: Since you've replied to Seddo, maybe some English people focus on their league too much but I am certainly not one of them. Seddo
They're supposed to. They're a great team, and they've come as far as Porto. There is no law to suggest teams in the semis must be evenly matched, *see Schalke yesterday. Indeed game over.

I did, it was full of stereotypes which can't really be quantified or backed up by fact. I am not underestimating any foreign team here, I am simply making a comment based on Porto games which I have watched. And that does extend further than the Europa league, don't worry. This year, or the last, where we only achieved 3rd place and got in this Europa League? Porto's winning and upping the rhythm, playing as they want to play. I have no idea why Souza got subbed in, but they've realized that they can't maintain a calm rhythm of play with Villareal so frenetic. Bah, both managers killed the game. Maybe they shoulda addressed the center-half position first since their current three (Carvalho, Pepe, Albiol) clearly aren't up to scratch. Does this now mean Kaka is out in the summer? Canoxa
What a sh*tty game. This was a great game in the making, yet it all went wrong. Villarreal entered the game frenetically, and physically quit way too early. Subsequently, handed out quite a bit of wood in those tackles, something I had never seen Villarreal do. The ref was frankly bad, but since it wasn't game breaking, there's no need to go into it. But Porto was the worse... Complacently hanging on the buffer space it had. Running only when absolutely necessary. I don't even wanna know whether this performance came from Villas Boas or from the players' heads. Both are embarrassing enough. uNi
As much as like Benfica, Braga deserved to win, Benfica played like crap. MyDog
Barca book their spot in the final, but to be honest, I thought they got a lot more calls going their way than Madrid did. Oh, and Mascherano's play acting was despicable today. If that Higuain goal hadn't been cancelled out because of Mascherano, the game woulda taken a different route I reckon. Replays shows he was clipped when Ronaldo fell over. He just milked it when it was on the floor. Not saying he didn't dive throughout the match but that was one where he did get clipped. The only angle that I've seen is inconclusive, but there's a bigger chance that Ronaldo didn't even touch him. Not to mention that Mascherano was already out of the play, as he couldn't gain possession of the ball, and the foul was only called after the goal. f*ck you, Platini. f*ck you. Mascherano dived to save his goal from being scored, everyone would have done that. That's similar to what Luis Suarez did in the well-known dramatic match.
