What, you got absolutely bummed in that first half and like i said poor decisions and finishing stopped Villarreal from being about 5-0 up themselves, if those chances were put away Porto ain't coming back, that's what i mean by lucky.

Porto played great in the second half and just turned the match on the head. Falcao dived got the pen and Porto never looked back, when Porto's chancs come they actually put them away, with some great finishing from Falcao.

I completely agree with your entire post apart from the bit about Falcao diving. I thought that the goalkeeper should have just stood up to him. Then they wouldn't have had that situation where he could go down and the ref would have no choice but to give the penalty. There was clear contact.

Nah mate, that was a dive, yeah there was contact but he was clearly falling before the keeper touched him (in fact, there was a little jump into the keepers arms as well) and he left his legs in, he knew what he was doing and that little fist pump he did says to me 'yes i conned the ref'.

Speaking of the Alves-Pepe 'foul' not long before that Pepe got kicked in the shin and did about 15 rolls a long the ground, no need for that. Then even earlier than that Di Maria made a meal out of a light touch from Alves which got him booked. Both teams were bad as each other.

Even if he was going down before the contact there was contact; therefore it can't be a dive. And he may have hung a leg out for the goalkeeper to take, but he was taken down and it was an absolute stonewall penalty. Clever forward play, not diving.

And as for the fist pump, that doesn't necessarily mean what you think. It could be interpreted that he is just happy to have won a penalty, and therefore given his team a route back into a game which they had not been in at any point in the game before that.

I actually felt like crying then. He's jumped and fell before any contact was made, that's a dive. He's the one that's caused the contact because he's jumped into the keeper, there's no way around not calling that a dive.

It clearly shows in the first few replays him slightly jumping into it.

I suppose it being the clever attacking play is the revenge for all those pushes, nudges and shirt pulls from defenders on attackers that go unpunished.

Edit: Ok, maybe dive is the wrong word, Falcao went looking for the pen. Simulation then?

Simulation would be going down with no contact at all. I get what you mean: he forced the penalty. That doesn't mean there wasn't any foul.

Also, do you guys only watch Mourinho games against Barça or what?

Falcao was definitely looking for the penalty, but whether that's clever play or not cricket is questionable.

Not exactly simulation as Canoxa said but when you're exaggerating the foul as he did, you're simply hurting the integrity of the game. And that ought to be a no-no in everyone's book.

Meanwhile, the FFF have been wrapped up in a fresh scandal regarding quotas that limit black and Arab players coming up through the youth system. Good job, France. Way to improve your image whatsthat.gif

Guarin's pass was a bit too fast, and he couldn't control the ball in such a situation. Given that, if creating a valid penalty out of nowhere isn't smart, I'm not sure what clever is. As for the integrity of the game, since Falcao had a defender on him, the goalie could have kept back, confined to the net - it would have covered the possible angle even better - instead of rushing like a mad man. Falcao only had to touch the ball forward and wait to be brought down.

Ah France, you birthplace of democracy you.

Amid the ridiculousness of VVV-Velno signing a 1-year old on a 10-year contract, these images have been cracking me up biggrin.gif

Aren't Venlo in the relegation zone in the Dutch League? So they think this 1-year old can solve all their problems and save them... lol.gif

Still, its pretty cool, here's the video that made him famous

Anyone used Club Jerseys UK to buy things from? Never really bought football shirts online and all the ones I've heard of are way too expensive. Was thinking of either a Dortmund or a Fiorentina top. Anyone know if the site is secure and whatnot?

IDK, I've never bought clothing online before. Looks pretty safe tho. UK soccer shop has an extensive range of shirts - even South American clubs (also in retro). Corinthians 1900s anybody?

Sorry to spill my fantasy league stress into here, but where else shall thou do it??

I literally lost sleep with a decision I had to make last night. Charlie Adam v. Yaya Touré in midfield? Obviously Adam has been a goldmine for most of the season but Blackpool have begun to show their frailties of late and I'm not expecting them to put up much of a fight, even at home, against an in-form Stoke team this weekend. So I opted for Y.Toure to take the midfield spot as City are hosting W.Ham on Monday and I wouldn't be surprised to see a rout. But then again, none of this might happen. And if Adam bangs in goals while Toure goes absent, I'm going to headbutt myself.

Thoughts?

We're gonna get whooped by Chelsea today. I can just tell.

I don't think Spurs will get whooped, I can see It being close. A draw that's what I'm saying but It will be hard at Stamford Bridge.

I would of stuck with adams, if blackpool are going to do well, him along with vaughn are going to be the players that are key, Yaya is a great player though, but he's one of many great players at city, not sure if he'll get as many points say, through assists.

Great day today, our three nearest "rival" clubs have basically been confirmed as relegated (Bristol Rovers, Swindon and Plymouth). Plus we ruined Robbie Savage's big day which more than makes up for being robbed last week.

Mike Cairns, what a knob! ALL of the ball has to be over the line. The sooner they get replay technology the better - for all decisions.

f*ck yeah, title defense is still on, bitches.

Now we just need Arsenal to do us a favour tomorrow. In fact, I'm feeling quite optimistic about Arsenal putting it past Man Utd.

Absolutely disgraceful linesmen performance. Their first goal didn't fully cross the line and the second was offside, for f*ck sake.

Complete and utter joke.

At least you've got a better excuse this year than blaming it on the lasagne.

Or the referee. Or the new stadium. Or the constant announcements. Or the state of the pitch. Or that it'll only take a few years as we're inexperienced. Or injuries.

Or, my favourite, not seeing it. tounge.gif

Real Madrid lost 2-3 to Zaragoza. Mourinho was brought to win titles, and all he won in Real Madrid are the almost worthless Copa del Rey and earned Real worse statistics than last season.

You twisted bastard! I actually really like Savage especially after his f*cking hilarious tweet vids.

Just got back home a couple hours ago only to hear Gomes let another one slip through his fingers...oh dear. i also read that the linesman made a mess of it, but still, shouldn't let shots find their way through in the first place. Good luck in the Europa league, spurs.
