Same with Carroll at Newcastle, he really didnt want to leave but they wanted to sell and they refused to pay him more.

He'd just signed a new 5-year contract in October 2010, asking for more so quickly stinks of greed (in Premierleague football!? Surely not!). He handed in the transfer request, even if the club did want to sell him (and when Pardew took charge, he claimed one of his key targets was selling him - though whether he has much leverage with Ashley is another matter) then Carroll had a 5 year deal that he could have stuck out. £35m for a player who wanted to leave the club is some pretty good business, hope we seen some of it spent on players in the summer.

Also, speaking of Torres (which I wasn't), what does everyone make of this? I think they could be on to something, perhaps this explains the signing of Andriy Shevchenko too? He may merely have been a prototype cyborg, purchased by Abramovich, that was prone to frequent malfunctions in front of goal. Perhaps with this new-and-improved Torres cyborg, we'll see a much more clinical finisher leading the Chelsea frontline?

^^Some crazy sh*t biggrin.gif .

I only seen Torres goal on Monday and he got lucky with his first goal, you could see his touch in the box took it way to far and the defender would have got the block in, but the jammy git got lucky as the ball stopped in the puddle and fooled everyone. I expect him to be at his best again next match.

That Pep talk seems to sarcasm, i can see Barca getting some cup final defeat revenge.

Absolutely pathetic from Real so far, not interested in playing footy at all.

At least Real aren't diving like women as badly as Barca are (except for Di Maria he's being a f*cking bitch)

It's been a long day and I must admit I came close to nodding off a couple times during the first half. The handbags at the end kept me awake haha.

I agree with Seddo, this is all a bit pathetic from Real. No wonder Ronnie is getting pissed off.

They're both as bad as each other and Busquet's holding his face after no contact again, what a twat. Both teams are going down easy, both asking for cards, surrounding the ref after every call and then have a scrum at the end.

Pinto has also been sent off after that half time frackard and now if Valdes gets injured they have no sub keeper. I reckon they could go in for intention injuries to Valdes now.

If United don't win the Champions League this season it'll be a travesty. What a pathetic affair this game is.

Mourinho has been sent to the stand.

Messi is lucky, not saying he's not good, but look again, couldn't the defenders at least make a foul? It's like they're afraid of touching him...And pepe should see the red card.

Pinto sent off for fighting, Pepe for the foul, Mourinho for crying about Pepe

Messi bursting out of nowhere to scoring 2 (the second was glorious)

Camp Nou without Ramos, Pepe, Mourinho. United - Barcelona rematch? lets hope.

LOL.

That second goal was pure sex, just amazing. What's Dixie Dean's goals in a season record? 60? Messi's going to be all over that, currently on 52.

Poetic justice that result.

Magnificent goal from Messi, but the histrionics from Barca were disgusting to watch. Madrid too, not a good game.

One of them defenders (Alonso, Albiol? Stupid stand definition TV, I couldn't tell) tried tackling him but he just skipped past. He's f*cking small but he's hard to knock down once he gets going.

Vidic woulda had him though, obviously...

But it looks like they're afraid of him.

A player tried like SIKKS said but that was outside the box, as soon as he's in that box it would be impossible to touch him at the speed he was going at as they would have given a pen and then that player would have ended up getting sent off.

Edit: UEFA have cancelled interviews and locked the teams in their locker rooms, must have been crazy down there.

What happened? I just got in from work and missed the game?

Basically it was a 90 minute brawl where Madrid decided the best form of attack was to sit and do f*ck all. Barca players dived (the usual suspects), Pinto sent off from bench, Pepe sent off for a fairly soft challenge and Mourinho sent to stands. Up step Messi to score two super goals (check out the second if you can, it was special) with Mourinho chuckling with anger in the stands. Now UEFA have locked the teams in their locker rooms to "cool off" like a bunch of school kids.

Seconded. Very, very good stuff. I've got to say if one team deserved to win it had to have been Barca (but we do all know Mourinho, he wasn't exactly going to attack was he?). I can see a rematch of '09 coming, which isn't too good for United. Let's home we bring our A game. Yeah I'm guessing at uncertainties but I can't see Real or Schalke getting anything from the next ties.

Before the sending off the game was awful. Real, Barca and the ref were as bad as each other and Schalke were just as bad, but in different ways, last night. Man Utd were the only team that played football, they also didn't throw themselves around at the slightest provocation or swarm the officials because one of their players decided he'd been fouled. After the (undeserved) sending off, though, things looked better, but it was a poor show from both teams tonight.

I think Real vs Man Utd would make the best final, but it's looking like that won't happen. I fear a negative approach from Sir Alex, should his team and Pep Guardiola's finish the job in the second legs. The trouble is, that approach can work, and has worked, against Barcelona so there isn't much other option.

Also, Messi is - at times - completely unplayable. Good showing from him towards the end.

Have faith. That loss in 09 hurt Fergie like to other defeat in his career. You could see it on his face and on the faces of our players in Rome while they stood there (runners-up medals around their necks) staring at Barca. He refused to talk about it for months, I think he knew where he went wrong and I think he won't make the same mistakes again.

I'm not saying we will win it but I'm damn sure we'll give it more of a fight than the attempt two seasons ago.

Well, if we can get past Schalke next week lol. I hate how premature I'm being about that, already phoned my boss to say I'm not working that night a month in advance haha.

Or as Ray Hudson would say, "A goal of orgiastic proportions!"

Glad to see that Messi save an otherwise, sh*tty game with those goals. Busquets diving like a little bitch, Barca players surrounding the ref everytime a Barca player goes down, it was just pathetic to watch a bunch of whiners from both sides.

And then Mourinho accuses UEFA of favouring Barcelona at the post-match press conference. Goodness man, just shut up Jose.

Indeed the scenes were horrific and a terrible representation of one of the alleged "best football matches" on Earth. And unfortunately, it wasn't surprising to see such things happen.

Great finishes from Messi, and the only positive thing to take from the game, really.
