lol bye.

As a neutral i was enjoying the first half and was thinking united would crack em up in the second with nani, valenica and gibson, despite that croat goal which may have been a foul before but still Bayern barely came toward the goal in 1st.

Then kiddy Rafael got the red card and then i think a big mistake, Rooney shouldn't have been subbed them, he was so motivated despite everything, and then Robben got his luck, but oh well theres next year, i can't remember when was it that England had 0 clubs in the CL semi, but hey, it happens.

Clutching at straws much? Says as much about the decine of English football as a whole than anything really. We have:

Liverpool: sh*t

Chelsea: Old

Man Utd: One man team

Arsenal: Too nice

And everyone else: Unproven...

Clutching at straws and decline of English football? Please tell me how this relates to Rafael having a good first half and IMO getting a harsh 2nd yellow?

English football is hardly in decline, we've had English clubs getting to finals for the past five years as well as floating around the quarters and semis.

Carrick was the one trying to stop Robben's goal. That goal was magic, nothing would have stopped that unless we had someone stood on that post.

Haha, they just showed an earlier corner on ITV where Rafael was on that post. Typical.

I wish Fergie would have thrown Kiko on for Rooney. We needed someone running at defenders at the front and as soon as Rooney picked up that knock he stopped pressing.

Yes but his easy loss of possession let to that eventual corner.

And I agree about Kiko, we should have brought him on.

As much as I hate Man United, they put in a great performance and when they went 3-0 up I was almost close to calling it game over. That Olic fellow has a knack of getting goals from nothing, beautiful goal from Robben. Hoping for a Bayern vs. Inter final.

More curious about our match today. Insua and Babel are suspended, Maxi is cuptied. First assumption (or just me playing Manager) is Rafa will play Benayoun on the left and Agger at LB. Greek or Skrtel (if he isn't injured?) partnering with Carra. I reckon we're in a good spot to advance. Unlucky to lose the away leg and have an away goal, Anfield will be rocking.

I thought I quoted SIKKS66. But yeah ignoe that first part I mistook you for someone who was a Man Utd fan trying to clutch at straws as to how they lost the match. Not a harsh second yellow to me...

English football is in decline. We won't have a team in the semis next year either unless some teams get a good shake up. Do you not agree with all of the points I made in that list? And can you not see the blatant falling apart of the English leagues? Alarm bells should have rung after the Liverpool defeat to Spurs in the first week or so in my opinion...

Rafael had a cracking first half both offensive and defensive, that 2nd yellow was a bit harsh though.

Man Utd one man team? I think you should have a look at our squad mate. You cant call us a one man team I mean look at how many good players we have , no team Is a one man team.

I did and I came to the conclusion that without Rooney you can't win sh*t...

Ok thats your opinion.

I know...

Fulham surely can't throw this away, 3-1 up now.

Liverpool jizzed on Benfica, nice 4th lob goal by Torres ( thats the only one i've seen haha)

I think we just disposed what was the current best team that was left in the Europa League, our home form is seriously dragging us through.

Zamora's goal was class though, great turn and finish, i think they have the players to over come Hamburg as well.

@nerner: How was I clutching at straws? All I said in the post previous to yours was how I was gutted and thought that each player on the pitch put in a very good performance. Just lady luck wasn't with us.

And I don't agree with a "decline of English football". If anything it's getting stronger below the big 4. I'm thinking we'll see some big changes this summer at United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Ancelotti has already been given the green light to buy big this summer and clear out the deadwood. Liverpool have to spend or they could fall out of the top 4 next year too, particularly with how City are going about things.

As for United, we need a new striker. A tall, imposing target for Valencia and Rooney to work off of who can also net a few. Saying that, we've just completed the signing of 5ft 7in Javier "El Chicharito" Hernandez from Guadalajara, who looks pretty decent. So much for tall lol. Hate to sound like one of those YouTube pundits (the type that click onto the web to see how good their new signing is, rather than, you know, watching him in games) but:

Beasty.

Seems to be a decent young'un, 4 goals in 4 games for Mexico.

I think he might have a bit of a hard time getting a work permit though, what's the situation for getting one granted? something like playing a certain percentage of international games

Doesn't it have something to do with their national team's position in the FIFA rankings? I'm really not sure. Mexico are kinda high anyway so hopefully that won't be an issue.

Hope he doesn't end up being one of those non-signings that arrive with a load of publicity, promise and hype but fail to get anywhere near the squad, let alone the team. Zoran Tosic, Rodrigo Possebon, Dong Fangzhuo (what a farce that was) to name a few examples. Speaking of which, I hope Possebon gets some first team chances next season because from what little I've seen of him in reserve games he looks pretty good too.

I agree, how can a team be a one man team. But that's his opinion.

He doesn't fit the criteria, but we'll get him through on the exceptional talent rule. We even got one for Manucho.

Yeah, Manucho, that's another one. I really don't get the point of some of these signings. I guess they were just prospects that never lived up to their full potential.

Fixed. Evans and Brown are alright, but without either Vidic or Ferdinand or defence is basically like Swiss cheese.
