Gamespot Reviews GTAO and gives it 6

The person that reviewed GTA and gave it an 8 has given a review for GTAO. Mainly moaning about being murdered like a noob. I do agree with the R* verified comments though.

6 is about right. GTAO isn't anything original or fresh, and it isn't anything ground breaking either. I suspect the R* diehards will be along to flame me shortly. I can't see anything wrong with the article, even if I do generally hold Gamespot in contempt.

Yeah, but when a reviewer constantly rates games wrong then they loose their credibility. We have a saying where I come from "Personal tastes should not be discussed". And so it should be with game reviews. A game should be rated based on it's quality.

6 is about right. GTAO isn't anything original or fresh, and it isn't anything ground breaking either.

I don't think it deserves as low as a 6, but her review is fair; there's lot of stuff in Online to enjoy, but it is brought down by kids being dicks and some technical issues.

I think the review was pretty spot on.

 

The PVP violence is an issue discussed in hundreds of threads here. Most of us would prefer it was different but the majority have learned to adapt our game to it. There's a few who love it and a few who still think whining about it will change it but most of us have learned to live with it.

 

After all, its not that hard to avoid the chaos, but if you buy a $400k apartment and hang out at LSC Vinewood your kinda asking for it.

 

and there's free aim where you'll have even smaller lobbies of other griefers to avoid...

 

and the oft mocked "Invite only" session

 

The review also touched on what I think is GTAO's major flaw and that is you cant play with randoms. The game has many cooperative features that require multi player interaction, Missions, Survivals, LTS and Heists someday, but you have to play them with friends or crew, or solo if you can.

Another f*cking asshole who forgets how far GTA online has come, is there any other game like this at the moment? no. Is there any game that has a open online multiplayer world like GTA? no. This game has provided the foundations for an incredible GTA release on next gen consoles. It should be a 7 at least. Not at all. The overwhelming amount of co-op missions I've played with randoms have been successful and fun, the same way the reviewer mentions:

 

I love .... clicking with a team of criminals to efficiently steal a shipment of drugs from some non-player characters and then making a clean getaway.

 

But of course there's been times when one or more randoms mess it up, and those times are very frustrating.

If people graded games purely on graphics and budget then the game industry would be going to sh*t......, oh wait that IS whats happening.

a good gaming experience is everything, if you arent enjoying a game and its crap then theres no point in playing it. games should be an experience and GTAO definitely is

Freeroam is very dicey, we all know that. From a noobs POV, I get that it can be a bit much. You don't get any points for being nice to people. The real fun for me comes from the game modes like racing, deathmatch and missions.

Personally I find GTAO mediocre, an average game to kill a bit time. Its not a game I would dedicate large amounts of time too. But GTAO is certainly one of the better if not the best multiplayer games out there. But that doesn't mean I would shower the game with scores of 8 or 9, it just demonstrates how poor the gaming industry is at the current moment that no other game can offer a better online experience.

 

I suspect the reviewers scores will change as new game modes are released, as will mine. But as it is people will grade it for what it is at the moment not what may or may not come in the future.
