Are racing World Records unbeatably low now?

I've tried a ton of different races to see if any one had an achieveable time, and I can't find a single one that isn't some impossible record.

 

Just completed a Jet race and (all jets do have the same speed) though I had done a PERFECT flight, i was over a minute under completion time (impossible)

I think the general consensus is that the best time to go for world records now are shortly after a new batch of races gets verified.

 

Most of the older races are either going to have cheated times or be rather, rather difficult to beat.

This^ i got the same world record but i never lost any of my characters since day 1, i guess i was one of the lucky ones.

Apparently my dad got a world record lap on Criminal Records while we were trading wins for unlocks. Maybe it was because we were drafting off of each other the whole time without crashing about? Maybe that's how they so far under par. (Excluding the obvious 5 second lap cheats.)

Don't Rockstar reset the leaderboards every now and then? Devs have learned it's the only way to keep records legitimate.

I almost deleted mine just because his eyes look uncanny, but left at it since I've got that achievement too. Funny thing is, I don't even know which race I got that from.

Lol @ people thinking they got an actual world record on Day 1. Everyone who played that day got a world record. Or, rather, were told they did.

I have beaten a world record just once in my life in a bike race near the docks, but I also realized most of them are simply impossible to beat and I started thinking hackers might actually have something to do with it...

Thanks man, I'll keep an eye on the newswire! The records have been seeing are all telling me the records are cheated as well, so clearly Rockstar have more important things to do than labor their leaderboards

I was so damn proud of that world record LOL the race against Lamar. Then. Signed on the next day, my character is gone.

Yeah - I got my Racing Blonde tattoo after winning a Beach Bum race within hours of release...the record was no doubt beaten moments later!

I actually set a world record time on a vespucci beach race (forgot which one) a long time ago and got an extra 5k RP with it
checked back a day later and it was already beaten by another second
I decided to try set it again only to find there was another record which was 0.2 seconds lmfao

There is just no way someone is doing a 3-4 minute race in 2-3 minutes...there's no way someone can beat even a moderate racer (no wipe-outs) by 30 seconds on every lap in a 2 lap race

OP the only way your getting the award and the tattoo if you don't already have it is

 

1. Wait for R* to verify or release their own new races, but make sure your one of the first to get there to have a chance.

 

2. Wait for the cloud servers to hiccup, which knocks the leaderboards offline and resets the world records to zero. That's how I got mine but there is usually a small window, and finding that window is 100% luck.

There was a bug where bookmarking a verified job gave you the t-shirt and award.

Another good time to try and unlock the tattoo is when Rockstar holds those special weekend events, the extra traffic causes the world record to "reset" sometimes and unlocks the tattoo for you. You probably won't get it on your first try but if you keep redoing races you should get it eventually. I unlocked it back during the Business Update Weekend event.
