Parasoul
Hi, I'm very new to these boards, I've just joined today. Unfortunately, I am having a bit of trouble installing GTA V to my PS3 console. It will get to about 750MB or so and it completely freezes. The background music will cut off and the loading icon will stop spinning, even the image of a character will freeze and I have to unplug my PS3 because it is completely unresponsive. I have a 60GB PS3 Super Slim with about 32GB available. I'm not sure what the problem is, but maybe someone here can shed some light on my issue. I did install patch 1.12 and my PS3 has the latest firmware. Thanks. tokyocean 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/706438-ps3-installation-freezing/ Share on other sites
Spuds725
I'm assuming you have the disk version. You have plenty of room for this game but not sure how you have the 1.12 patch without the game fully installed. I just purchased a ps4 a few days ago and 2 seperate games downloads failed from trying to do simultaneous downloads (game and game update) at same time. Perhaps a similar issue on ps3.... Try this... Delete any gta 5 files from your hard drive. Sign out of psn and try to install game offline.... See what it does.... After it finishes, sign into psn and see if it then finishes installing. Curious as to why you only have a 60 gb hard drive on a superslim? I thought those were all at least in the 250 gb range. Well, I went to install the disc and it required me to install patch 1.12 and I installed it. Also, I bought the 12GB PS3 and upgraded it to a 60GB HDD. I'll try what you suggested. Edit: I tried installing it offline and it froze at 811MB on the bikini girl with the phone.. Bozzah
so from what you're writing, I assume it randomly freezes, like there's no exact moment of freezing? Example: Once it freezes at 711 mb, the other time at 750, then 699 and then 810? I would say that it's a hardware issue when it always freezes at the same moment of installation, but you wrote something else, so I guess it's just a software issue... And I don't think it's just because of the patch, going offline shouldn't change a lot - at least that's what I've experienced so far with MOST of the people who had this problem. Have you tried to restore the file system? If you do not know how to do this, you can check it out in my signature. Only do the "Restore file system", don't do the restore ps3 system yet! If something is not clear, better ask before you do something wrong, I think we will get you in-game by tomorrow Edited May 5, 2014 by Bozzah Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/706438-ps3-installation-freezing/#findComment-1065325382 Share on other sites
kashifm41
This is quite strange but not unusual for PS3 . Since you just bought it recently so chances of harware failure are very rare. The PS3 freezing issue during installation of games can be due to all sorts of unknown reasons. You can read this post to see if it helps. If nothong helps then you might have a bad unit (highly unlikely) so go ahead and replace it. Got some stupid bugs inside the game after they release 1.13, so wanted try if it worked better re-installed and remove all game from ps3. Already try to all tricks what i can find (empty all memory, try "safe mode" tricks, install internet open/closed, try clean cd, try clean ps3, factory setup and so on). Only what can think anymore, is buy new gta v, but if same problem continues, i have 2 new frisbees with gta v picture on them Edited May 17, 2014 by knightsgarage Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/706438-ps3-installation-freezing/#findComment-1065411951 Share on other sites

tokyocean
This is the only game I've ever had a problem like this with. I was highly anticipating playing it, too, so it's definitely a letdown that I didn't get to play it. I might just get a PS4 later this year and wait for the PS4 version of the game to come out.
