Something odd I've noticed about GTA Online is the fact that the in game notifications never inform you of players joining free roam sessions, but inform you when they leave...I don't understand this. Why design the game to work like this...

Why would you want to know when griefer #9669 has joined your lobby?

My guess is they added "left" but not "joined" is I suppose because they assumed there would be more interaction from players (other than killing each other) and people would be interested in knowing when their new partners in crime were leaving.

Not to be rude, which is not my intention, but you pointed something out that is basically a 'no sh*t' thing and everyone has known/noticed since they probably first played Online. That's why those kind of responses. However, OP, I do understand where you are coming from regarding Online not telling you when players join the lobby as GTA IV did. That was a nice touch with GTA IV, you knew who entered and who left the lobby. Much easier to keep track of so and so in IV who may have a grudge with you for no reason and such.

The game USED to notify you when someone on your friends/crew joined the lobby but has stopped doing so.

 

When my fellow crew members used to join one of our invite/public sessions I'd see the crew logo and my friends

PSN ID on the bottom left of my tv screen but they appear to have disabled that now as couple of times I've

not noticed when people have joined me recently.

It does it for me sometimes, it's just buggy of course. Maybe if we're lucky we can get it fixed before patch 1.2. Edited May 5, 2014 by PoopyThomas

what annoys me more is when i get notifications of what friends are doing in SP, its rare as only a couple of my friends still play SP, but still annoys me.

It makes more sense to know when people are joining rather than leaving. But Rockstar logic says otherwise.
