GTA IV Online: Gone for Good?

I'm pretty sure most people know that Windows Live is shutting down its support for over 70 online game titles. I just found out its date of abolition is June 1st.

So, is this the permanent end for GTA 4 PC online? Does this affect the console multiplayers? Anyone know why WL is shutting down in the first place?

Awww. I was going to buy GTA IV on PC. I loved it on PS3 and wanted it for my laptop to play with friends and play story mode again. Looks like I can't play GTA IV with friends modding stuff. :(

Shame that this is happening. I hope some dedicated modders and coders can make multiplayer mod similar to SAMP.

I wouldn't be surprised if they took it down. There was never really much hype behind GTA: IV Online, it was more about story mode.

As the way it should be.

I almost forgot about his project. It's going to kick ass.

Thats for sure, and imagine it with full GTA5 map :alien:

Even more so, one goal for the CitizenFX/MP systems is to be able to load even huge map modification projects like ViIV with a full-size V map, including completely redone streaming frameworks to exceed limits in a massive scale as a basic modification resource -- so any server could, given enough bandwidth or a pre-download, do exactly that.

I still play GTA IV's multiplayer mode to this day on my 360.

I may be being hopeful here, but I think it is just regarding games that exclusively use GFWL servers that will be affected, and they won't update or support the interface.

I'm hopeful that GTA IV will continue to work. GWFL are fully integrated with Xbox live - I've even had a microphone chat with a friend who was on the 360 (he owns his own distribution company and was playing V 2 days before release, the lucky git!) - so I'd hope the logon IDs will continue to function for this reason.

Google IVMP, I was part of a community that supported it for about a year or two before dropping it for being slow in development, although I think it's still being worked on.

I like the stats tracking system. I wonder why are they removing it.
