Anyone miss tank sniping?

I can remember them days before 1.11 sniping 12 year old griefers out of tanks. Ever since 1.11, I was bored of GTA Online because of the tank sniping patch. All I did was shooting griefers out of tanks. I wish R* would make an anti-material sniper or add the ability to let Heavy Snipers pierce through tank armor.

Ever since tank sniping was patched, I could do nothing about the twankers. Anyone else miss the feeling of finally sniping that annoying twanker in the lobby? Because I do.

RIP tank sniping: 10/1/13-3/4/14

Its been 2 months since tank sniping was patched

Yes, I miss the tank sniping but even more so, I miss the reactions of those I sniped.

Me too, I loved hearing them scream and cry because they think I'm a "hacker".

Exactly, but you could never go wrong with the guys trying to figure out how they were losing health followed by their utter confusion on how you killed them and the ensuing search for you afterwards whilst you stand on a rooftop giggling like a schoolgirl.

Ive come to accept that tanks are all powerful gods and we are merely there vessels they control to advance there evil agenda now that everything we can use against them has been nerfed or removed

Yes every single time a room turns into an all out tank war I cringe and maybe a cry a little inside for my long lost tank sniping

Doesn't look like R* are going to give you any better weapons for dealing with tanks, so how about they let you blow off a tank trap to slow down or disable the tank. The we all approach from different angles and take it out.

They need to give us landmines, They were going to put them in a previous GTA anyway, but what better game to introduce them in than this one? Set down five of them, give them a longer set up process as a trade off and a high pricetag and there, you've got a perfect tank counter.

I don't miss it, tanks are easy to destroy, when you see a griefer get your own tank and blow him up, or RPG from a roof or call a mugger.

It's only difficult if you don't have any of those things in which case you use passive mode, if you're trapped just quick job and back out.

It's quite unusual that I even see a tank, it's normally someone that got owned in a gunfight and go running for it for revenge, in which case they suck in a tank too most of the time.

One..Tanks are not easy to destroy.. And resorting to getting your own tank just proves that point...

And this is why we loved tank sniping. So ya.. i missed tank sniping.

Well obviously getting your own is the easiest method but they are still easy to destroy if you have RPG's, just go in a carpark and shoot it with them, it's only like 3-4 on the back of a full health tank.

I don't know why people have this mindset of see tank, must destroy. It's a super slow chunk of metal, just avoid it.

One game I had an entire crew hunting me in 6 tanks, it was funny as hell flying to chilliad and listening as they tried to get all their tanks up the mountain  they'd already travelled all the way from the city, awesome game.

...This topic was about tank sniping. Not about wasting RPGs on tanks, running away from tanks or getting your own tank fight back with. I think we all know that, well the ones who play alot do.

But i miss 1 shotting tank drivers with a sniper. It was just funny...

Sniping them out, then jumping in their tank and trolling them with it. Those where the days.

I miss it. It was great and I liked that the tank driver sometimes thought I got them first shot. When really it took me like 20 or 30 tries. Made them even more mad and I hadn't even done it.

Yes. I felt I like I earned something whenever sniped a player out his tank. That feeling.

It basically shows you the idiotic priorities of R*. Instead of patching glitches that actually make the game unfair, they decide to patch a way to combat the already overpowered tanks.

Perfectly stringed together. Don't forget they actually create a sticky post on their support site regarding an issue with the inability to emit water from fire trucks. Nothing about freezing, bugs etc...

Exactly. I can't imagine why anyone thinks that's the right way to run a company.

i liked how tanks were becoming a rarer sight, i'd actually get excited for coming across one.

at least the jet and mugger+well timed text messages still work.

i do miss tank snipping, most rewarding kills ever.

these days i mostly just avoid the tanks, slow moving dots near the pegasus spawns, yeah right buddy.

i don't bring my tank to fight another tank because that perpetuates the cycle as someone else will bring their tank for me.

in reality there was only one tank griefer ever, everyone else is just a long chain of tank drivers assuming other tank drivers are griefers and having others assume they're tank griefers too.

don't get me wrong i love to virtually lay waste to anyone i come across, but despite popular belief the tank is slow, boring and not that effective.

a tank can't disturb and cover the whole map like a jet does, the tanks effective area is quite limited and easy to avoid.

Once the sniping was removed, I quit engaging tanks altogether. To destroy one now takes too much time and money and the driver can just go get another. Like above posters have said, leave their area and don't give them a target. Its really annoying when a good shootout in freemode is ruined by an idiot in a tank, that is if the police haven't ruined it first.

Yeah I don't understand why they patched this, the heavy sniper is an anti material rifle which can be used for taking out personnel or key components on armour. They also gave the Anti-Tank RPG absolutely no anti tank capabilities, the only counter against tanks these days are other tanks.

Right after tank sniping got patched, I found myself in a lobby with 4 twankers cooperating, all with chat set to everyone and being arrogant as f*ck driving around LSC spawn killing a bunch of players. It was the troll opportunity of a lifetime snagged away by r* just days prior.

For the first time it was painful that other players had made me select "find new session", and I never even engaged them in any way...

I could have been a hero that day...

Yeah, I miss it. Nothing was more satisfying than sniping a tank driver, waiting for him to respawn, and then getting him again as soon as he got back in that f*©king tank. I would always call Lester to take my blip off the map right after the initial kill so the tank guy would have no idea where I was at while he was running blindly back to his big, metal coffin.

I don't. I can be picky about details and I was never comfortable with the idea that you could put a bullet through 12 inches of solid steel if you just stood very far away.

It's surprising to me how many tank drivers leave their supercars at the tank spawning locations. Careless that, they may catch on fire.

98% of the crew I'm in went AWOL and don't even play the game no more since it was patched. Though IRL you would never kill a tank operator with a .50 caliber round, disable the tank yes, but in the GTA world it was a great equalizer.

I honestly just found that it meant any time a tank griefer was in the game, he'd have a buddy with a sniper rifle watching the Pegasus spawns. That, or someone would knock him out of his tank only to see him hop in passive and run up the nearest crane to snipe them. There was one german guy I remember who would spend the whole game on top of Maze bank tower sniping tanks and car drivers if no tanks were out, then quit the second you got a helicopter to him or managed to snipe him by shooting behind his muzzle flash from the street. There were plenty of times when his friend was either in his own tank, or waiting to take the one someone just got sniped out of, then go on a rampage killing everyone in sight. I haven't seen either one of them since the patch.

Whenever I see a tank mindlessly shooting everything that moves these days,I miss tank sniping every f*cking second...

Rockstar took away from the community another method to counter-grief griefers.

My old crew could show those kids when they came back after being owned by us with a tank that even their precious tank isn't gonna help them as they were being sniped out of them.

When I got my Heavy Sniper, the tanks were rare as f*ck. -_-

Ditto.

I have so many fond memories of tank sniping. It was easily my favorite thing to do in free roam.

I remember I once sniped a dude out of a tank and his friend gave him a ride and drove him over to the tank, where I promptly sniped him again as soon as he got in and then I sniped his friend in the car.
