Why Apartments, not houses

Lots of people are begging for houses or crew hideouts in GTA Online. I will tell you why this cannot be.

An apartment makes sense; multiple people can live there.

Imaging driving up to your $1,000,000 house in Richman only to find 3 other player vehicles parked outside and people walking in and out of it. Wouldn't make sense, would it?

Same with crew hideouts - what good is a hideout if another crew could have chosen the same one? You'd constantly meet outside the place, thus completely eliminating any usefulness a hideout might have had.

There's no benefit to individualized properties at all. It would be nice to have your own house in the Vinewood Hills, but when it's not really your own house, that sort of ruins the entire point.

So yeah.

So what. It'd still be cool to own a house.

It'd be cool but it just wouldn't work.

They chose to put apartments in seeing that a large part of the game is n the city so if they have remote houses people would then get mad because they spawn to far from the city and there are no houses in the city.

well it would be nice if on next gen there are over a million houses and every person gets a house assigned to them by rockstar

You just answered your own thread. But if R* really wanted to implement houses they would to prepare a lot of new interiors so every house doesn't look like our current apartments. They would also need to put in a lot of house so that a player may less likely own the same house.Who knows? If R* wanted to do it they have their own way.

Oh it would, but still...I'd be annoyed having spent most of my $GTA on a house only to have it "technically" shared by any number of other players.

Actually, if you leave gta online or go to the game store and someone owns the same apartment / garage you own you get to see a glimpse of the other player before go into the clouds.

They should make all the houses in Vinewood Hills purchaseable, so atleast there will be some choice.

There are houses in the city.

There's a lot of people who have been begging for a high-end apartment outside the city or even a 10 car garage. At least a couple of the garages in Sandy Shores/Paleto Bay should be made 10 car.

I think there's also a real desire for spreading out the high-end apartments. Something around the helipad/harbor and in a few other areas would be great rather than having so many clumped together.

As for mansions, could they have it so that once you drove in the gates, it would be a no fire zone? So, people could be hanging out outside but wouldn't matter. If someone's hanging out outside the gate, well, that happens outside the apartments in-game anyways.

It makes WAY more sense than everyone showing up to the same house. When inside your apartment, at least you can pretend the other players are on different floors. You see someone walk in the front door and you can just pretend they're on the floor above or below you. Imagine driving up to your million dollar house and seeing someone else walk in the front door before you.

I wouldn't care if others lived in the same house. They could create a passive zone around the house, so you wouldn't get killed by other people there. Living in an apartment is boring, when there are so many other possibilities out there.

Same with crew hideouts - what good is a hideout if another crew could have chosen the same one? You'd constantly meet outside the place, thus completely eliminating any usefulness a hideout might have had.

Hideouts? You say it as if crews have intense battles with other crews and use hideouts a place to plan and relax. Remember, we have 16 player servers not 500 like sa-mp where gang hideouts make waaaay more sense.

Nobody owns anything, nothing to do with a sense of entitlement. There's a couple million players, so there's no way everyone could have their own special place.

I wan't someone to tell me the why owning a house a wouldn't work and owning an apartment does. It is the same thing just in a single location. Yes the house thing could get cluttered but still, its not like the house would work like it did in SP you'd still have to load and walk into the house.

There isn't a difference between the two because its the exact same freaking coding.

What's more realistic...half the people in the session living in the same apartment building or more than one person living in the same house...

Yeah, soooooooooo unrealistic that several people are living in a building where multiple people live

I wan't someone to tell me the why owning a house a wouldn't work and owning an apartment does.

They already did, and in the other several threads like this that have been made in the past...other people don't need to tell you, again, what you clearly don't understand

I just told you.

From a TECHNICAL stand point, it would work just fine. If everyone agreed that they didn't mind other players walking in and out of what is supposed to be THEIR house, it would work just fine... but logically, it makes no sense.

Many people can live in an apartment building, and like I said, you can just pretend that you're all on different floors of the building.

Walking in the front door of your house while two or 3 other players do the same thing makes no freaking sense.

Besides... you want to be limited to a one or two car garage?

Exactly, it would work just fine. And it who cars if it doesn't make sense? This is GTA not the sims, if you want it to where you own your very own house and no one else can live in it go play the sims and get over it.

And the car thing doesn't matter, it would be nice to have a place with 10 cars that you want and a house as your main 'base' with 2 or 3 cars that you actually use.

so how come so many people have the exact same apartment address or an apartment building that can hold 160 cars ( assuming the 16 players on the map live at the same apartment? Who care about making sense in a game where a lot doesn't make any, I want a mansion

You guys say that now... but I guarantee that if Rockstar adds houses as properties... you will see a new form of griefing, and you will come on gtaforum to complain.

How about you buy a house, and you have to keep paying taxes or rent? make sure that the tax or rent is actually a pretty high price or a fair price in the beginning and if you fail to pay, you lose the house.

I guess you've never seen a parking garage before, they are these really cool things that allow cars to park on multiple levels, and some even exist underground!

Well not everything hasto make sense in gaming. Ok it wouldn't be realistic to see other people in your house seeing as they also own the house aswell, but lets not forget we can die as many times in GTAO as we like yet we get ressurected everytime. That isnt excatly realistic but it doesn't bother us.

It will be weird and dangerous if a player and his friends are hanging out in a house, then another player that owns that same house too joins the lobby...

Can be possible, but i'll stick to apartments...
