What cities should be in a GTA world type map? What new cities in America should be used? How many cities?

HOW'S ANNIE?

You mean cities that haven't been used? I would say that it would be good to go to Boston, Chicago, New Orleans and Dallas. Not in the same map of course, but these cities do all feel like they are riped for GTA sooner or later.

I think he meant Mexico the city, which would actually be great for a GTA game - it also happens to be the largest city in the world

Mexico City would be good. Very dangerous. Unfortunately i dont think Rockstar is gonna use cities outside the US. At least for now.

I think GTA stated before they're not interested in ever going outside of America, as the whole feel of the series is about America. The lifestyle, the cars, the people and witticisms you hear, the characters personalities in game both pro and antagonists. So we won't see any cities like London again, GTA even confirmed that in an interview I seen. And again, its a fair point, theres something about Ak47's and even grenade launchers that seem plausible in America, but in London that'd never be imaginable, even if it is a fake reality game!

If they did Chicago its hard to see what it would offer differently to Liberty City. They select between LA, Miami and NY for different reasons. NY or Liberty city has the whole authentic city vibe to it with hard nosed pedestrians, business life style, busy vibe to it and a concrete jungle, it allows them to focus on a proper city as well as intertwining it with reknown gang cultures. LA and Los Santos is there to use environments to spice things up, as it allows a bigger map to include Mt Chilliad/The Rocky mountain range, and includes the deserts that surround pretty much the whole area. With bigger maps they can include a bigger range of vehicles too. Vice City also gives them an new option in that it can focus on again a high class lifestyle, and a unique laid back lifestyle.

Now what other city in America can offer something these three can't? Most cities will just be different versions of Liberty city. Chicago would offer nothing different to LC, maybe just more Irish centred gangs? Philidelphia would be like Los Santos, just without the desert, mountains, and the upper class divide which gives us yatchs, so in other words would be a very crap LS.

I hope and think that the next game will go for Vice City again, they have to. And wow I can't wait for it if so. If we thought Vice city was amazing as it was when it first came out, imagine what it would be like if it was based on the PS4's graphics card. We'd see clear blue waters, spectacular yatchs, just as many, if not more super cars as V, beautiful beaches etc.

Yes we all know they're not going outside of America. Yes I hope Vice City will be in the next GTA. The reason I made this topic, was because Rockstar has confirmed that they will in the future make a GTA with all the cities. I'm wondering if they're will a map filled with even more cities included. Saying that only 3 cities represent the US is stupid. You may feel that Chicago and NY are too similar, or Philadelphia and LA are similar (I don't know what you're thinking there), but it really doesn't matter. They're not the same city. Be open minded to new cities. They're bound to come.

Yeah I know what YOU meant dude, I'm elaborating for others.

Philadelphia and LA are both areas of known black ghettos, San Andreas was the first GTA series game to feature ghettos and step away from culturally white crime genres. The whole point is each location allows for different things. The reason why people loved this V's arrival was due to the fact it offers a lot more than IV could as it was a city, not varied environment which could allow for all sorts of vehicles from off road to planes, as well as a range of scenery such as mountains, multiple airports, deserts etc you name it.

If Chicago came out after Liberty City, hell yeah it'd still be fun, but in some respects it wouldn't feel that different. It would just be a different map layout full of concrete and endless blocks of streets.

Anyway the whole point was, I reckon they're just going to stick between these three environments and won't venture out. If they are going to venture out I reckon it would be in the future to another country when they've exhausted the US. Maybe then we'll see London for a new era to freshen the franchise up.

THE GHETTO JEZUS

Why are you asking for cities around the world when you said only cities in America ? The title should of been GTA American Map Cities ?

Wait a sec that makes no sense at all, ok how about American Cities that can be used for a GTA game ?

GTA:USA a 50 disc game for 1000 bucks that would feature the 50 most major cities in each state. Probobly would happen when we get to PS8 and XBox:Infinite.

Houston-Jacinto

San Antonio-San Balcones

A couple ideas:

Longhorn State: Texas! There's so much they could do with Texas since it's so big and varied. I was thinking a tri-city state, like San Andreas, with El Paso, Austin, and Houston. There could be an immigrant protagonist, seedy jobs with the big oil companies that are already present and Rockstar hasn't done much with, miles and miles of wilderness, and lots of material to poke fun at.

Drugs, Sex, and Rock and Roll!: A game about bikers on a mid-western drug route in the '70s or '80s. Instead of the typical large city with tons of contacts you'd have twenty or so small towns, lots of countryside, and only a few big contacts who'd give jobs through most of the game. Gang wars would return, sort of, but you'd be fighting for dominance over the trade in each town and it would be automated so that you didn't have to be there to win/lose any turf wars if you didn't want to.

I agree that the US is R*'s principle focus, but I think a US / Mexico border map, with a city that is basically split in half like San Deigo - Tijauna or El Paso - Jaurez would be a really interesting way for GTA to go. Cops and gangs would behave differently in each area, and a real working border would be great in free-roam and a perfect feature for engaging missions - it would really spice up the 'go there do this' type of mission. Texas is also an area that GTA hasn't done yet, would be visually distinctive (especially clothing) etc...

The only thing that makes this less likely is potential overlap with RDR 2 as horses would have to be in a Texas based GTA.

A Latino main character would also be very cool

I think an environment known for less crime would be an interesting dynamic. Like Minneapolis/St. Paul. It's two large cities sitting right next to each other and encompasses a very large area. The plot would be interesting because the area is known for being very safe and your responsible for initiating a huge crime wave affecting millions of people and dealing with law enforcement out of its element, but the whole city is trying to stop you. Minnesota has outrageously cold winters and rwally hot summers so you could have seasons in the game too. Winter driving etc.

As a life long MN resident I have always wondered how a GTA set in MN would work. Sure the whole cold winters dynamic would be interesting but that could easily be accomplished in any other northern city. Plus the Twin Cities isn't big at all. Only about 3.5 million people in the entire metro area. Compare that to cities like LA (15 million) NYC (20 million) and Chicago (10 Million) and its just seems tiny. Not too mention there isn't much interesting landscape or iconic landmarks to parody. And as you mentioned before there is virtually no violent crime when compared to other cities as there was only about 40 homicides in Minneapolis 2012 I believe. Compare that to a city like Chicago which routinely approaches 500 a year. I know your post was centered mainly around having a city with less crime but I still feel that having some kind of culture of crime is necessary to make the story feel authentic. NYC has the mob and a host of other gangs. LA has the street gangs. Miami has the drug trade. San Francisco has the Triads and Las Vegas has the Mob. Minneapolis/St. Paul has nothing except wannabe gangbangers who couldn't make it in Chicago.

Maybe I'm biased because I live here but I just feel that MPLS/STP just wouldn't be a good setting for a GTA.

I honestly think that the best place for a northern setting for GTA would be Chicago no doubt. It has the history. The landmarks. The size. The culture of violence. AND the cold and snow to make things interesting.

I totally get what your saying and yeah the downtown areas of both cities are WAY too small, R* would def need to embellish a northern city similar, but much larger. I like he idea of a city set in Northern America not known for crime. Chicago, etc all those cities you listed have been played out in other mediums thousands of times, it would be nice to see a totally different plot.

Mountains, etc would need to be added in as well. I just like the concept of the Mpls/stpaul two major cities sitting sided by side
