Anyone else freezing more than usual? (PS3)

I've heard all the stories about the constant freezing on PS3 but only recently started experiencing it myself. I used to only freeze like once a week or so, but since the event started I think my PS3 froze about a total of 6 or 7 times. I know for sure it's not my PS3 because this is the only game that makes my console freeze. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I've been freezing over 40 times after the last patch, multiple times a day. Right now, i can play about 2 days without a freeze. Don't know why it happens... i froze about 30 times, then i counted & i am at 16 now ( 46 freezes approx. ) - all of them were Online, without one! I had a single freeze on in SP, in the pause screen, when i wanted to switch to Online.

You always have more chance of freezing with a lot of players in a lobby and right now they are all full. So long as you stay outside public lobbies and join rooftop from there you wont freeze (hardly ever)

People are probably freezing because of how many players are quickly entering the lobby from Rooftop Rumble and then leaving like 20 seconds later to play RR again...I literally have seen 3 groups of 4 people come into a lobby, only to leave 15 seconds later, while getting like 6 invites for Rooftop Rumble lol.

 

Anyways, yeah all the mission spam and people leaving/entering the game is probably freezing our consoles more than usual.

I am on Xbox 360 and I am freezing more often. Before the event started I had froze 2 or 3 times since 1.12 patch, but last night I froze maybe 6 or 7 times.

My PS3 hasn't froze in about a 2 weeks, probably because I haven't been playing gta online.

I was freezing so often I was about to let the game collect dust again, but too many of my friends had started playing again and I hadn't played with a lot of them in a good 3+ months so I didn't really want to ditch them. But for whatever reason I went about a week without freezing and thought I was in the clear, but three days ago it started happening a few times a day again. I just play the game expecting it to happen at any moment (especially if I'm doing something important or having more fun than usual: "It's going to freeze, it's going to freeze, it's going to freeze...") and if it doesn't just consider it a pleasant surprise.

Man that sucks! I thought it was only me. I know others were having some moments but mine has been pretty continuous.

 

I keep hearing clear cache but it builds up and gets worse every day.

after patch 1.11 my PS3 keeps freezing and freezing, some day I can´t even play for 10 minutes without it freezing, my friends have the same problem, they fu**ed it all up after patch.

I froze twice yesterday (Xbox 360), and it was the first time I've had that happen in a long time. Haven't had any issues at all today though. My assumption is that it has to do with server overload due to the double XP, and I'm also sure that some of the GTA Online servers are being used as a temporary home for GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption, and other Rockstar games until they find a more permanent home for them.

Yea the freezing sucks!! And just earlier today the weirdest thing happened it won't let me shoot when I'm in a vehicle I have to get out and shoot I asked my friends to shoot a gun as a passenger and driver in my car and they can but I can't why?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it has gotten worse. Just not too long ago I couldn't bring my phone out so I decided I would try to get a car to run me over and kill me, but the second I kicked a car I instantly froze.

It is too frustrating to say the least. I've read quite a few anticles on how to prevent PS3 from consistently freezing every couple of minutes and it seems like this article gives the best possble solution for PS3 freezing issue.

Guys just follow the guide in my signature and you will most likely not freeze again... it takes you less than 10 minutes (restoring the file system)

 

If it does not help, you can still do a factory restore but make sure to make backups of your savegames and stuff as they will be lost.

 

Edit: I was having freezes very often and when I have them again, I just restore the file system. It seems like it is only a matter of luck whether it affects you or not, but if it does, it can be fixed very quickly.... I did not have a freeze since january.

 

 

FOR XBOX360: clearing the cache seems to help, give it a try!

 

 

 

 

If you have the YLOD issue, get a new ps3, all fixes ( heating fan for example) are just temporary unless you are very good at soldering and have the right tools for it.

But this is a whole other story. Every freezing issue I encountered was just because of the software, broken hardware is very rare....
