PS2 Versions of LCS & VCS - Downgrades / Bugs

Recommended Posts

So I heard that a lot of things were broken / missing in the PS2 versions of these games in comparison to the PSP versions?

I'm not talking about the removal of multiplayer of course.

Sadly no one really went into detail where i saw it mentioned, so i was wondering if people could here, both for LCS and VCS.

What exactly is "worse" or "bugged" or "missing" in the PS2 versions?

More detailed the answers the better :D

Thanks!

1.PS2 GTA:LCS port have a very big problems with framerate when compare to PSP (i mean REALLY BIG problems)

I have both versions and I honestly don't see any difference, maybe it depends on the PS2 you're playing (SCPH 50000 models and later models had CPU clocked at 299 MHz while older models had CPUs clocked at 294 MHz).

I played on SCPH-79xxx (Silver) and one of the first slim models (i think it was a 70xxx or 75xxx) and it was very laggy on both of them.
PSP have a much better framerate (even when played from UMD)

So it's only framerate?

I thought people were saying that certain things in the maps, models and effects were broken? :s

At least when converting them for the lcs and vcs pc version mods they seemed to mention something about "don't use the ps2 versions because they are worse... ?

To be honest, both games would be best on PC but i sadly can't see the mods ever being properly finished. It would be nice to be wrong but i have my PS2 anyway :)

I don't think that something is broken.
Anyway i think that PS2 versions of LCS&VCS are better. Not much, but better. Check youtube for detailed comparions (eg

)
+ If I remember correctly you can put your own music on PSP; with PS2 you can't do that. Edited by Masny

Maybe it was a problem with the laser?

Not sure if this is true, but apparently in PS2 version the garages do not fix the car instantly after the door closes. (If the car blows up in garage, it won't repair)

Definitely not. Laser was OK :)

Maybe there is a some different versions of PS2's LCS? One laggy and other one patched? Who knows....

Hm good point, my version is SLES 54135.

It used to run fine even when it was ran from the DVD, nowdays I play it from an HDD (modified PS2).

That's incorrect, it always fixes it for me no matter what.

I don't know which version i had, but what i know is that it was a very first european edition (from UK). According to this http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/931275-grand-theft-auto-liberty-city-stories/data it was the same version as yours. So... i don't know what caused problems. Maybe you are very frameratedropproof? :)

Haha, maybe :p.

It could be the problem with the disc, other than that I don't know.

Vice City criminal

GTA LCS on PS2 has different hud bars, wheels, trees and water and road textures were redone and upscaled.

Even building models were remastered. LCS on PSP used GTA III building models.

love how they didn't even bothered to change the trees of GTA 3 in the PSP version
