ALMOST610
As this has been getting discussed in another mod topic of mine (Manhunt Kuruma) I thought that it should be time for me to make a new topic for this vehicle alone instead of a multimod topic. Â This is, believe it or not, my first completely scratch car body, the initial plan was to modify the front and back of the Vice City Taxi/Cop to look similar to a 1990 Ford Crown Victoria but then as the modeling went on for the front end I felt that it would take alot of work to change the bonnet, quarter panels, doors, etc to make the car flow to the new rear end and it would probably be simpler and look better to make a new body from scratch which is what I then started, I never intended for this to be a high poly model as it is quite a boxy car but I have put in some details not usually done by me on cars hoping that with an IV Vehicle Script for 3DS Max I might make this my first attempt at making a vehicle for the game, I have several other vehicles I made for IV but never tried to get them in game due to the script not existing and people not willing to convert them for me, it is not designed to be super high poly for IV but more so just something I would like to achieve for this model, my plans for the car were to have it in a map mod I would like to start on the older GTA Games, and also to make it as a replacement for the LVPD car in San Andreas, obviously the Civilian one will come first and Cop Spec models are released afterwards, hopefully this one gets finished. Â The basic body has been made, as can be seen below with a few renders just testing textures chrome effects for a nice show off image, this probably wont be the 100% final model but it gives a nice idea of the body and what has been done thus far. Â Â There is also more than a flat image of an engine under that hood... Â Â Â I think that is all I have to say so, let the chatter begin.... Give us a Like, Comment or just Follow the topic, it lets me know people are interested. Baka San
Great idea, and the modeling is rather nice too. Some of the proportions could use a little work (e.g larger headlights, more thickness in the window chrome trim, and there seems to be a smoothing error on the lower front wing). Also, a DOHC inline 4 is not really a standard powerplant for an American fullside sedan (unless it's a swap to pee off "V8" enthusiasts). I would suggest a large, lazy underpowered V8. Â Anyways, the progress looks great so far, I look forward to seeing more.
lpgunit
How's the poly count with the car? I'd probably try my hand at converting it to IV, or perhaps even some other game like The Sims or NFS if you don't mind. Â EDIT: Just a bit of a nitpick - you should've put those suspension mounting posts on the sides of the engine bay, too. You could even get away stealing an engine from SA if you wanted to, it would be carburated (the '90 Vic had a 5.0 in it) but it wouldn't bother me too much at all. Â EDIT: Just a bit of a nitpick - you should've put those suspension mounting posts on the sides of the engine bay, too. Â Im not sure on a Poly Count but it wont be very high this vehicle is mainly aimed for VC and SA but I would really like to try and convert a car to IV so why not one of my own instead of an existing vehicle, the only reason the poly count might sound high for being a less detailed vehicle is because the bars in the grill are actually modeled and not a texture, there is some small suspension mounting points in the enginebay you can see the tiny little bump either side, I had them really big at one point, then scaled them down, I am still messing with them until I get a size I am happy with which will probably be decided when I am texturing the engine bay as things look a little out of place when just a flat colour, I am glad for you to convert it later on, but I would also like to have an attempt first unless it seems really hard, but at some point I would like to try and make a car for IV myself. Â Â Great idea, and the modeling is rather nice too. Some of the proportions could use a little work (e.g larger headlights, more thickness in the window chrome trim, and there seems to be a smoothing error on the lower front wing). You could even get away stealing an engine from SA if you wanted to, it would be carburated (the '90 Vic had a 5.0 in it) but it wouldn't bother me too much at all. Â Â In regards to the Engine first, that is actually the "V8" engine from the Xbox Version of Vice City that is featured in several cars, I chose that over what looks like a 351 or something that is seen in the Stallion, Sabre, Etc as the model for their engine bay is extremely poor and I did not think the sporty V12 from the Cheetah, although nicely detailed, would suit this car, I do not intend to spend time making a real pretty engine bay or modeling the engine myself unless this was a real life car I'm making and not a GTA Style Car like this model is meant to be. Â And continuing on from those last few words in regards to the lights size now and the other details probably not being correct to the original or something, again I am not making the real life version it is a GTA Mockup of the vehicle so getting things precise is not important, it is more about making it look similar to the car its meant to be, about the smoothing, that is because I just made these shots quickly to try and look pretty to show them off, I just put the smoothing modifier on and let it do its thing, its actually happening because the model is smoothing the upper areas of the body into the lower side skirts, but because the doors are not connected to the skirts they have not smoothed into them producing a different body shaddow for those areas. Ill make sure that does not happen in the final release but for a quick render I did not think too much of it. Â Thanks for the Feedback all, I hope I have replied to your questions/suggestions good enough.
bahraini_carguy
Look's nice so far. Which version you gonna release first? Sa or iv? Better to repair my pc faster.
ALMOST610
Probably SA before IV, but VC before SA as I have said before, I do all my testing in VC because of how easy it is with MVL. Â No need to hurry up, you'll have it running long before I finish this.

Silent
Great once again  Also, nice you're making a LVPD version too! Since a while I'm actually trying to find what police cars LVMPD used in 1995 (they might have switched them since '92) but it deffo wasn't that ALMOST610

universetwisters
That Kuruma looks more like a LCS/Manhunt variant too!  Means Manhunt Kuruma is a beta III car once again? Manhunt    GTA 3 Beta    There's a few differences, but mostly as far as details go (side mirrors, grille, etc). The shape seems the same, especially near where the side of the trunk/rear meets the passenger seat-area or whatever the proper term is. Facepalm38
Umm... You based it off this didn't you? In case you didn't, this is a beta car from GTA III, the Brigham. It never made it ingame, and the car you made looks a lot like this one!

As said by SergeantSavidge I am not basing it off of the Brigham, like I have said to several people, I am well aware of the Brigham, but if people would read the text in the first post it clearly states that I am basing the car on a 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, the Brigham looks to me like a Chevy Caprice from the 80's and not a Ford Crowny.  If the Brigham is not based on this then I don't know what else it looks like. Carface80
The brigham lacks the bulkiness of caprice or impala, not wide enough, but if you pay attention to the roof, sides and fenders arc the closest equivalent is a 1981 buick century, but the front end based on 1983 caprice.Aside from different grille and not having a 4 eyed headlamps, the body is almosy dead on. Facepalm38
Still yet, it looks like it, even if it isn't based on a Crown Vic. Also, combining some cars together, we could make this car playable, couldn't we?

Blingy
Please tell me you're going to make an FBI variant! Either a knock-off of the MiB Crown Vic in the first movie, or the Blues Brothers 2000 car. That would be sweet if you could do some cheesy extras too (i'm a sucker for small details), like maybe the Time magazine that had Tommy Vercetti on it, or maybe some briefcases with coke in it, or some cigarette cartons and beer cans along the dashboard.
